Today I got some powder for my lady parts and it has transformed how I feel.... I actually can't believe it! I have been suffering a sweaty, chaffing, post-baby, peri-menopausal, swollen mess of a down below, and wow... It has just transformed how I feel! Anyone else??!! Why isn't this talked about!!!

Fem fresh?! It's talc free and designed for the intimate area... Surely it's safe? I knew talc was bad as it used to contain asbestos...but the fem fresh is corn starch based?

Marvellous stuff .... changed my life when I started going through the menopause. Hot flushes didn't leave me a sweaty mess once I'd had a dusting of it. I still use it, wouldn't be without it.

Why do people feel the need to share this with millions 😂

Because I daren't share it without being anonymous 😂

Yeah I don’t often hear genuine ladies using the phrase “lady parts”.

I assure you I am a lady and not a man 😂

Femfresh

That just says it all.

It's suggesting your body smells and needs to smell 'feminine'.

Just shower twice a day .

How does powder make you feel more comfortable?

How do you feel without it?

Just asking.

Edited

It's not the smell, just the comfort. I honestly didn't realise it'd work as well as it has, hence my apparently controversial post... I honestly feel like this is such a taboo and was genuinely interested in whether other women know the same!!!

Vitriolinsanity · 13/10/2024 12:50

Just mind how you go OP. I sprinkled some talc around in the summer (strapless bra wouldn't spin round on damp body).

I then slid halfway across the bathroom when I went back in with dry feet.

Says someone not in perimenopause or menopause! Dear God, the dryness and itching require more on a daily basis. I've never used powder, but I have to use vaginal and vulval moisturiser at the very least. Just wash and go is no longer remotely possible sadly.

This is where I am at!!

Yes! I feel like it was some sort of hidden secret. It's all the talk of peri-menopause that has made me look into this and I'm so glad I've found the powder!

Don’t see how someone sharing advice they think might help others is so controversial to some people 🙈

Oh, the irony of a thread about unwanted vaginal moistness being littered with snide remarks from slimy cunts!

And the bullshit some of you are coming out with; talc particles travelling up one’s chuff to cause cervical cancer 😂 have a fucking word with yourself.

OP, I’m really pleased that you’ve found a way of easing your discomfort. Like another poster, I also use it for the underboob dampness and shan’t be altering that approach as a result of any of the tripe that’s been bandied around on here. Thank you for sharing, your tip may well help reduce another’s lady-part discomfort.

I am literally cringing for you. You're embarrassing yourself.

I really don't see the problem with lady parts, a lot of people find the terms vulvas vagina and labia off putting.

You mean, the actual proper names for them.....? What is 'off putting' about using the correct names for female body parts? 'Lady parts' sounds ludicrous. Infantile and childish.

Give me strength FFS! 🙄

Oh do fuck off.

Why do you need to be so rude about it? The only people who "need strength" are the people you are being so bloody rude to on this thread.

We know they are the correct terms. We're not stupid. Or infantile. A basic understanding of the English language tells you that euphemisms came about to save face in polite company because directly referring to ones genitals or other such private areas or private activities is crude.

stopthepigeonstopthepigeon · 13/10/2024 14:43

Peri menopause hadn’t inflicted this particular problem on me yet 🙈 though I am sweating more so give it time.

FergusSingsTheBIues · 13/10/2024 04:51

Because it’s clearly a fucking man posting 🙄

I’d be surprised if the average man even knew what the perimenopause was.

weirdstoriesdontaddup · 13/10/2024 16:18

The reason talc is contaminated is that it is found to grow and therefore be mined, close to asbestos. Therefore it has always been a contamination risk.

W0tnow · 13/10/2024 16:25

But, but, doesn’t cornflour and moisture = goo?

I mean they don’t use it to thicken gravy for nothing?

Yes but you'd have to list all of them and your arse crack. Lady parts indicate what your knickers cover.

Showering twice a day is bad for your skin, that’s a beyond absurd suggestion for someone who is already struggling with their skin balance.

I’ve never used powder but I use femfresh sensitive wash all the time because unlike normal soap it doesn’t irritate my vulva (probably because unlike normal soap it’s specifically designed to be used there).

So snotty about something you clearly don’t know anything about.

HappilyContentTheseDays · 13/10/2024 16:48

Honestly, what on earth is it with the unkind comments on here? Really unnecessary.

Yes, I've used talc for years and years, it's marvellous stuff. Never had any problems and no, I've not had cancer from it. There were some scares in the 1990s (mostly USA) but these days companies make sure talc (or what passes for it) isn't carcinogenic - mostly so they don't get sued, but it's safe. Ignore the scaremongering.

I just dust a very fine amount down below, it keeps me itch free without chafing and no, dust does not work its way up my vagina! Of course it doesn't, daft idea.
I also lightly dust under the boobs, helps as pp have said. Particularly helpful on hot summer days. I'm surprised more women don't do this, but can't understand the issue with sharing this information at all. Perfectly normal and wonder why people find such things embarrassing to talk about on an anonymous forum!

weirdstoriesdontaddup · 13/10/2024 17:14

but it's safe

well yes talc is safe. But it grows next to asbestos. So it’s safe in the same way that wallpaper on a wall with rising damp, is safe from mould.

Do not let your skin get dry. I did, and suffered for it. The relief you get might not last long.

There are some very good creams available on prescription which will have the same effect as the powder. I don't think I can put them on here.

Speak to your doctor. I split my crotch through dry skin, and it is very unpleasant.

HorsesAreRunningOn3LegsTonight · 13/10/2024 18:40

OP - I powder my “ lady parts “ too. Purely to feel comfortable and dry.
i agree there are risks from talc , but having had a total hysterectomy 25 years ago, with full removal of womb, ovaries, cervix, I think I’m ok ( 🤞 ) cancer wise.
Plus , I can’t bear the new Corn Starch ones, so use Cuticara , which is real talc and can be bought online.

Mamabearsmile · 13/10/2024 18:52

No, try it then you'll be speaking from experience.....

Mamabearsmile · 13/10/2024 18:54

Its based on corn flour, not entirely cornflour.

Nope.

Not good for you

Laura95167 · 13/10/2024 19:07

Please be careful there's a link between talc and cancer
