To wonder why I haven't powdered my lady parts before!!

Today I got some powder for my lady parts and it has transformed how I feel.... I actually can't believe it! I have been suffering a sweaty, chaffing, post-baby, peri-menopausal, swollen mess of a down below, and wow... It has just transformed how I feel! Anyone else??!! Why isn't this talked about!!!

OP posts:

Yep. Not one single woman I know calls their vulva their 'lady parts.' 🙄

Can't believe some women are coming onto this thread and sharing claggy fanny tales. I'm out.

Well I find it vulgar for women to go round talking about their vulvas, vaginas and labia and much prefer a euphemism.

Femfresh

That just says it all.

It's suggesting your body smells and needs to smell 'feminine'.

Just shower twice a day .

How does powder make you feel more comfortable?

How do you feel without it?

Just asking.

Edited

The name is crap but at least anyone searching for an answer to the type of problems the OP mentioned, it makes it clear to understand.

I'm disabled and can barely manage a once a day shower. I have to make do with body cleansing wipes like Fresh Wipes or Carell on my crap days.

Using powder - talc is preferable but cornstarch-based powder is better than nothing - makes me feel drier and fresher for longer.

My skin, especially skin that gets damp like under my breasts or my groin creases, is dry but smooth so there's less rubbing which makes me feel more comfortable.

Without it my skin feels sweaty in these areas and if I move about more than normal the elastic under my bra and on my knicker legs rubs.

Body powder is my luxury despite me using it daily. My skin feels softer and smoother than it does with body lotion or just bare after a shower.

CointreauVersial · 12/10/2024 23:15

I don't understand why people are so bemused that talc reduces chafing, rubbing and soreness, especially in damp areas of the body. That's basically what it's for!

I can’t decide if this is the least subtle guerrilla ad ever, or a perv post.

I think it’s an ad.

Post designed to evoke posters into reminding OP that talc is carcinogenic, then the response of, “Oh no, I use (brand) and it’s a life-changer!”

PumpkinPantz · 12/10/2024 23:20

As a peri woman i have been considering it. I don’t want to shower twice a day but I need so thing to counteract the ‘issue’.
If someone could tell me talc wasn’t harmful I would start using it tomorrow.

Tightropewalker67 · 12/10/2024 23:21

Oh, the irony of a thread about unwanted vaginal moistness being littered with snide remarks from slimy cunts!

And the bullshit some of you are coming out with; talc particles travelling up one’s chuff to cause cervical cancer 😂 have a fucking word with yourself.

OP, I’m really pleased that you’ve found a way of easing your discomfort. Like another poster, I also use it for the underboob dampness and shan’t be altering that approach as a result of any of the tripe that’s been bandied around on here. Thank you for sharing, your tip may well help reduce another’s lady-part discomfort.

Yes. Though it’s gone a bit wrong if it is an ad, because the thought of having a “ 🌽 starched foof” has put me off ever trying it entirely.

SharpLily · 12/10/2024 23:25

ScrollingLeaves · 12/10/2024 23:03

I was going to say this too. Really, don’t use it.

Could you find the source for whatever is wrong instead?

The source? Take your pick - menopause, overweight and in my case, for example, living in a hot country. If you think there's an easier way to solve these problems than intimate powder then please share because knowing the source isn't the issue.

The talc/cancer thing doesn't apply here, we're talking about talc free powder.

I don’t think the talc thing is nonsense.

Ok, that’s fine that you don’t think that. I’ll wait to see actual evidence though.

Mamabearsmile · 12/10/2024 23:39

Not so and not proven. Creases are not lady parts...

Mamabearsmile · 12/10/2024 23:40

Define? Sounds horrid ...

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 12/10/2024 23:45

And the bullshit some of you are coming out with; talc particles travelling up one’s chuff to cause cervical cancer 😂 have a fucking word with yourself.

Ovarian cancer.

In the time it took you to post that uninformed bollocks you could've looked the issue up and seen that Johnson & Johnson paid out $6.5 billion to settle lawsuits about this very thing.

Mamabearsmile · 12/10/2024 23:48

The last paper I read said results were in conclusive and bigger studies were required which may take time to complete since most folk refer to labia and vulva as vaginas and will therefore be flawing the study from day one by applying to the wrong area. I don't believe anyone puts talc into their vagina.I mean the logistics alone.....

Mamabearsmile · 12/10/2024 23:59

Not proven currently I've just read, we are talking about corn based powder.

oakleaffy · 13/10/2024 00:01

Mamabearsmile · 12/10/2024 23:39

Not so and not proven. Creases are not lady parts...

''The company is facing over 40 000 lawsuits in the US alleging that baby powder contaminated with asbestos caused ovarian cancer or mesothelioma. But Johnson & Johnson did not attribute the switch to that controversy, calling it a “commercial decision” that “will help simplify our product offerings, deliver sustainable innovation, and meet the needs of our consumers, customers, and evolving global trends.”

They went to all the trouble of changing to corn starch. M'kay.

I did take the time to read, and everything I’ve seen is decidedly inconclusive for all of the female cancers that have been mentioned on here.

J&J settling is a different matter entirely. It seems to be more related to the fact that they have been shown to have been aware of the presence of asbestos in their talc - and the associated risks - and still did nothing about it.

rainfallpurevividcat · 12/10/2024 23:29

Well I don't see vulvas and labia discussed here often and many posters refer to them as lady parts or intimate area or whatever for the same reason so it's not really an issue.

TheRomanticOutlaw · 13/10/2024 00:03

EffortlesslyInelegant · 12/10/2024 22:03

What happens when the cornstarch gets damp? Does it form an appealing paste that leads to your 'lady parts' becoming superglued together? Sounds like a bloody dreadful idea to me.

Sarah Millican did a thing about this. Audience member shouted out about using powder when you 'get claggy' and she asked them if it forms a paste 😂

Demonhunter · 13/10/2024 00:03

Jellybean85 · 12/10/2024 21:21

Is that still true! Surely they've swapped ingredients since the 90s!

But I still doubt it's a good idea to dust it down there (thinking of thrush) Grin

If something's safety is inconclusive (I don't know what the fuck 'decidedly inconclusive' means) enough to scare a multinational into shelling out that kind of money, how can you possibly think it's unreasonable for women to be wary of using the product on themselves or their baby girls? Why the insults and scorn from you?
