To wonder why I haven't powdered my lady parts before!!

Today I got some powder for my lady parts and it has transformed how I feel.... I actually can't believe it! I have been suffering a sweaty, chaffing, post-baby, peri-menopausal, swollen mess of a down below, and wow... It has just transformed how I feel! Anyone else??!! Why isn't this talked about!!!

OP posts:

Is that still true! Surely they've swapped ingredients since the 90s!

But I still doubt it's a good idea to dust it down there (thinking of thrush) Grin

I'm afraid it's absolutely true - there was an article about it on Radio 4 a couple of weeks ago and I read an article online the same day. Unfortunately, talc and asbestos are both natural minerals found in many of the same geographic areas, which means they can be mixed when the talc is mined. I wouldn't use talc on any part of my body, much less my nether regions.

But talc isn't sold anymore...

Lady parts??
Christ on a bike,

WiddlinDiddlin · 12/10/2024 22:31

Talc doesn't cause cancer (if used appropriately) thats very misleading and stems from a contamination issue some time ago, that might cause cancer IF you inhaled it.

Don't inhale fine powders.

Also, don't put talc or indeed any powders on mucus membrane/tissue designed to be moist, ie on your vulva, in your vagina.

He’d need a good puff of powder too

Fem fresh?! It's talc free and designed for the intimate area... Surely it's safe? I knew talc was bad as it used to contain asbestos...but the fem fresh is corn starch based?

Oh yes, that's fine. You might have mentioned in your original post that it was talc-free.

Intimate area - is that like a private break-out room?

AngelicKaty · 12/10/2024 22:35

CableCar · 12/10/2024 21:28

But the talc is what is carcinogenic... Not the corn starch that modern powders are made from?

Not all "modern powders" OP - around 76% of cosmetic powders are still made with talc.

MrsLBrown · 12/10/2024 22:35

Femfresh

That just says it all.

It's suggesting your body smells and needs to smell 'feminine'.

Just shower twice a day .

How does powder make you feel more comfortable?

How do you feel without it?

Just asking.

You can find it on the shelf with lady parts and intimate areas.

Twoweeksandcounting · 12/10/2024 22:36

This might be an odd question, but how do you actually use “talc” (aka powder)?! Do you dispense into your hand and then pat onto your body? Rub it on? This is genuine, I have never used it, vaguely remember a bottle of Imperial Leather talc in my grandparents bathroom and used to like puffing it up into the air, but have never actually used it!

I thought the risk was ovarian cancer where the talc ascended via the 'lady parts'?

Isn't there still a law suit going on in the US?

widelegenes · 12/10/2024 22:40

Surely putting powder on your vulva just makes it ermmm claggy?
If you're already sweating and chaffing wouldn't it be better to have a good wash, dry and put on fresh underwear (or none if you're at home and can go commando).

If it smells bad after a wash then I think a problem than FemFresh can't solve alone.

widelegenes · 12/10/2024 22:42

Who has a post baby and peri piece of kit all at the same time.

I assumed it has been building up for some years......

Male poster

He should be pleased with the suggestion of Snag tights then.

SabreIsMyFave · 12/10/2024 22:43

What a weird thread! Confused

Was there any need to describe your claggy fanny so vividly @CableCar ?

Edited

I haven’t used it in the manner the op does but I did used to put cornstarch baby powder on my feet in the summer when I worked in a job that had me standing about in leather working boots all day every day.
It was to prevent the horrible sensation of damp, trapped, sweatiness rather than to prevent smells for me

Why do people feel the need to share this with millions 😂

Because they wish someone had told them?!

I certainly didnt know about this and am grateful for the OP sharing the info. I knew about talc being bad so assumed that having to put up with feeling less than lovely down there was yet another part of menopause that we simply have to put up with. And if it isnt, then sign me up.

Frankly menopause is shit enough without people like you sneering at people like the OP for sharing what has been a game changer for her and that might help others. I assume you either havent been through it it or havent suffered the same symptom because if you had then you wouldnt be so derogatory.

Yeah I don’t often hear genuine ladies using the phrase “lady parts”.

I do, or sometimes lady garden or lady bits. Not that unusual.

Maybe they honestly wanted to know the answer to their question? No-one has actually answered it though...
(and, op, sorry I haven't tried it so can't answer)

Why are you so offended by someone describing a menopausal problem in detail?

It happens. Like shitting in childbirth, sweaty feet, and colds making your lose snot by the pint out of your nose. Life is not sanitised.

Mamabearsmile · 12/10/2024 22:47

Powder your fleshy parts! Antibacterial, anti chaffing and essential skin care for comfort. An ancient practice. Even the SAS carry talc in their Bergen. I'm now saving for for a bath full of asses Milk....to go with my corn based talc.

Guess we must know different kinds of ladies.

To me it’s very “Hey ladies, first-time poster here with a raunchy question just between us girls ;)”
