Abusive cleaner took pics of my home

My lovely self employed cleaner went back to her own country. New cleaner started this week. House is tidy but dirty floor and surfaces, needs a good vacuum/mop/wiping up. We hire 4 hours a week for a deep clean of the downstairs(kitchen dining living room)/hallway and stairs. Standard 3 bed house in London with kitchen extension, takes me 2 hours to do but pay for 4 so the job gets done properly.

New cleaner came and in 4 hours couldn't clean what we asked which is just vacuum/mop and wipe down all surfaces. Had to ask her to clean individual window seals as she didn't and when she left I noticed the living room window seal wasnt cleaned. She broke my glass chopping board and didn't say anything and left chemicals in the oven which I told her not to clean. Last cleaner was able to wipe the skirting boards and didn't leave a spec of dirt in corners, this cleaner left many areas dirty.

I said nothing and thought I won't hire again. The company messaged me why I don't want to hire again and I said I wasn't happy with the clean nothing else.

I then get very abusive messages and pictures of my floor being dirty saying my house is disgusting. Didn't get to respond before I was blocked by the company.

AIBU? I feel completely violated and want to complain some how. She took photos of my home without permission.

Don't even know what to do now and feel uncomfortable using another cleaner. Husband says I'm over reacting :( am I?

FYI I've added a photo of my home before the cleaner came. Floors are clearly dirty but the kitchen is tidy/needs wipe down.

Stop having a go at the OP. The clue is in the noun- cleaner. She pays someone to clean. And as someone who has cleaned in the past I say what Op has done is fair. Cleaners in London are generally better paid than nurses, there is a reason for that. They are there to clean and if you are making your money in a service economy it’s because you are doing the work the employer doesn’t want to do. So get over it, do your job and take your pay

saypleasepls · 13/10/2024 09:05

So this gross bit of the floor is against the island and so not in your before shot Op?

How are there 6 people, a dog, 3 cats and you've got a baby on the way going to cope in a 3 bed house. This doesn't make sense 🤔

what’s the reason? despite higher cost of living in london

This is really abusive of OP - get a grip everyone! She has a deep clean every two weeks, there are three animals, children, adults etc - multiple people as OP has said. They're probably working full time and trying to do and be all things to all people, including parent which is a full time job in itself.

The floor is dirty but the fact you've managed to keep everything away and relatively clean is a credit to you. I'm sorry for these responses OP - I don't think it's 'disgusting' as everyone is making out. I think the cleaner probably needed to take pics of the before and after as it was her first time, nothing more sinister than that.

The criticism and judgement on this post is what is disgusting, nothing else.

"Everyone" isn't making out it's "disgusting" - the cretinous minority are. Unfortunately, the minority are so vile and judgemental that they stand out. The majority of posters have taken the time to read ALL of OP's posts and are very supportive her.

@AngelicKaty
You have spent an inordinate amount of time calling people names. Thick, stupid, idiot...

Quite an angry troubled person you appear to be.

Do you hurl juvenile names at people irl? I doubt it. Keyboard coward springs to mind.

Just go eat some porridge and calm yourself.

What OP was doing then is irrelevant. She knows what she wants done and has specified as much and her previous cleaner was meeting her requirements within 4 hours, so there's no reason why any other cleaner can't do this unless they're simply not as good/efficient/conscientious.

You hit the nail on the head with your last sentence. Not all cleaners are the same. Hence me calling her first a miracle worker. Her floor is disgusting in that picture, that it a fact, and if it sets the tone for the rest of the house (OP says it doesn’t) then maybe more than four hours is needed, as I previously stated. 🙄

Very messy floor lol please don't judge 😬. It's a female company owner that has many cleaners under her that she sends out. It wasn't the cleaner messaging me but the female company owner.

To be honest I don’t think that’s bad - that takes a sweep up or vacuum then clean the floor, which is why you have a cleaner - if you cleaned everything before they came you wouldn’t need a clearer!

I know someone who owns a cleaning firm and an employee (family member) took a photo of a dirty house and was instantly dismissed. But I understand in this day and age everyone needs evidence so maybe she takes photos before and after. To show what she’s done.

Your kitchen looks lovely but the way.
Find a new cleaner it’s their loss not yours.

Frankensteinslittlefriend · 12/10/2024 19:36

really disturbed at some peoples standards. How anyone can look at that and think it’s not that bad is beyond me, their homes must be just as bad or worse.

Completely missing the point. Nobody's saying it's OK for living in, but it's OK for cleaning - by the cleaner OP paid.
I am certain that the people whose house is never like that are the people who don't have a cleaner. They are cleaning their own house all the time.
If you're paying someone to do a job, of course you'll leave them do it! I note that several cleaners have said it wasn't unusual.

saypleasepls · 13/10/2024 06:52

where do we find the time?

@Nell1974 you were all over mumsnet yesterday posting long posts. In that time you could have swept and mopped your entire place!

I love it when posters post very long posts about how busy they are and they don’t have any time to do this, that and the other.

And then you check out how many times they’ve posted in the past 24 hours (very simple AS) and… it all becomes clear why they have no time to do anything. They’re sat on their bums, phone in hand, mums netting!

Edited

You sound creepy. This thread is not about me or whether my house is messy or clean. No need to advance search me, you strange individual.

you said you couldn’t understand how people “had the time” to sweep floors

i just pointed out that perhaps if you hadn’t posted 35 long posts on mumsnet just yesterday… you might have carved out a bit of time to sweeps your floor 😆

Exactly this!
There's only me, husband and a dog in our household, but I'm vacuuming the downstairs of our house about three times a day (and cleaning the kitchen floor every night) because we have a "woody" garden and all sorts of garden crap seems to make it through the back door (and DH's idea of cleaning the work surfaces is to sweep the crumbs onto the floor!🙄). However, I do this because I HAVE THE TIME (retired) and a much smaller household to deal with than OP. If I didn't keep this up our kitchen floor would be awful in no more than three days, tops.

Now you’re scaring me. Someone needs to get off the internet and it’s not me.
I have no intention of justifying myself to an anonymous account but please stop stalking posters on here, it’s out of order - unless you suspect someone is making stuff up, like posters who claim to be skint yet last week posted about their 200k salary.

The only people I've called thick, stupid and idiotic are the ones who seem incapable of using the "OP Posts: See all" functionality on MN so write erroneous, irrelevant comments about things that were answered by OP ages ago. There's been another slew of them overnight, so yes, I'm frustrated by their worthless posts because they add nothing to the thread. Don't be one of them

You said you could not understand how people had to time to sweep their floor

i suggested a solution to you - maybe limit your time on mumsnet given you seem to ha spent most of yesterday on it

but that seems to have gone down like a lead balloon with you 😆

Op, no offence but I used to work as a cleaner to supplement my income whilst I was studying, I left clients like you.
No wonder you got the response you got.

I don't think you were a very good cleaner, must have been terrible at it!
