To ask if you like Jeremy Vine?

I’ve been hearing a lot about Jeremy Vine lately, and I’m curious - do people actually like his style of presenting? I find he can be quite polarising, with some loving him and others not so much. AIBU to ask what others think about him and why?

I’m not sure who he is. I just about know his name

Not seen his TV show and I know nothing about him personally but I find the radio show interesting sometimes.

I only listen to his show when Vanessa is standing in.
His voice grates horribly, he's shouty, a poor and biased interviewer and a pretty obnoxious character.

Radio 2 is frankly a talk station now with minimal music. Presumably because talk is cheap and music requires a fee to play.

He had a phone in on whether to keep his beard so not . Think that tells you all you need to know !

He's awful. His voice and delivery alone have me scrambling to change stations before he's said two words.

Someone mentioned his 'delivery'. It reminded me how much I hate that too - the way he introduces an item by reading out a speech clearly written for him by his producer, you can tell by the way he's reading it he has never encountered it before and is surprised at the content. Eurgh. Overpaid overpromoted muppet.

I want to punch the radio when he says "cheery bye" to someone he thinks is an old dear (but they're probably 55 years old).

Oh god and the woman today inviting him to her wedding and saying she loved him. I felt a bit ill. 🤣

It's a lovely hate thing. I enjoy the odd bit of it to see what they're on about but it is awful. I draw the line at radio only. Cannot watch the TV show. I think I'd explode if I saw JV and LOJ in one place. 😱

Yes this. I can’t listen to him as he’ll misunderstand or miss out something so obvious.

I appreciate him trying to highlight dangerous driving practices on behalf of cyclists

Proven when the credit crunch hit. The BBC got Martin Lewis straight on his show, and given the news bulletins that day 're the fact the bank of England had tightened mortgage lending so that many people would struggle to get a mortgage or remortgage, it was shocking that Vine kept trying to talk about buy to let mortgages. Martin told him repeatedly they were no longer available and was trying to get important info out to people, only to be interrupted for a further 2 times by the idiot trying to talk about buy to let!

Also who the hell stops behind a lorry which has stopped because the driver realized they had gone down the wrong turn. The sanctimony when he said he wouldn't report the driver. Report for what, you stopped your bike in a blind spot in the middle of the road (clearly deliberately)

In a way I agree but the sanctimony, oh the sanctimony. Also cyclist (and I've cycled about 40 miles today) are not saints...especially pensioners on bloody electric bikes...I was forced off the path by a woman wizzing along trying to keep up with her husband...came from behind with no warning...she definitely didn't like what I called her!

I'm not sure how he can keep a straight face when discussing tax evasion and tax avoidance when he set up a company in his daughters name to limit his liability.

He's a nasty fucker, can't stand him. He's horrible about people who claim benefits and repeats untruths about them, amongst many other things.

A few weeks ago, he was on the radio doing a discussion about birthmarks. He had two guests on with port wine stains. One was a young person and the other sounded like an older man who was talking about the awful treatment he’d had because if it and how he’d had a nervous breakdown. The younger guest was talking about embracing it etc and Jeremy had the cheek to sum up that perhaps the younger generation were more resilient and better at coping etc. The reality is because it was radio how the hell are we supposed to know how aggressive those port wine stains were? Some are easier to ‘embrace’ than others. You can have really light ones or really disfiguring ones that go lumpy and thick. I really felt for the guy. I thought Jeremy was dismissive and flippant

I don’t like him. DH and I are both cyclists and motorists and he makes cyclists look like wankers. I recall he got a woman motorist jailed after she kicked off and he filmed it following a near miss. Knowing what I do of him, I suspect he purposely wound her up.

An odious person who seems to think he has the pulse of the nation whereas I don't know anyone who likes him.
Once heard him describe himself as a journalist whereas he does little more than present a radio version of the JK show. Find a topic, two people with opposing views, a few phone-ins plus throw in a few (deliberately) misinformed opinions for good measure.
Not keen on several of the R2 presenters nowadays but none have me reaching for the "off" button as quickly as him.
