To not feel very sorry for Rebekah Vardy

This Rebekah Vardy Colleen Rooney business has ended up costing a huge amount of money. Now RV has to pay costs of £1.6 million. Total madness. Why did she do it. Obviously thought she'd win. The phone falling into the sea. Hmm how convenient.

Ah, Becky's minions have arrived! Why on Earth would I want to tell anyone we'd shared a table with the Vardys? Surely you don't think that could ever be something to aspire to?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Also worth pointing out that Colleen did actually offer to settle the matter before it went to court. It's not uncommon for people to pay money they can afford for the sake of an easy life, so if the solicitors had advised RV that she might get a settlement out of it, they'd have been right. There was actually a win available for the taking here.

But fundamentally, people do have the right to go to law if they want to. Solicitors can't force someone to listen to their advice, and that's no bad thing.

Also the fact that RV actually screwed her own case up with her own texts. There are own goals, and there are monumental own goals. This was spectacular. And the fact she tried to throw her own publicist under the bus when caught out tells you everything you need to know.

You’re really not coming across well here,

we’re all in agreement that Rebecca Vardy is a truly nasty person but you aren’t exactly covering yourself in glory either.

Arraminta · 19/11/2024 13:41

I merely speak from my personal observation, having actually spent an evening in the woman's company. I wasn't aware I should be covering myself in glory?

Most people can recognize when someone sticks out like the proverbial sore thumb from the rest of their company for those very reasons, but apparently no one is supposed to verbalize it. I doubt anyone taking issue with what you’ve said would honestly have expected her to fit in there.

But there's also no need to be a complete snob.

So what if RV or JV are not middle class or well educated?

saveforthat · 19/11/2024 15:12

Wagatha Christie is an amusing title but someone on a podcast during the court case suggested Scousetrap which would have been much better.

I think the point was that they came across in person as their public image suggests they would.

First post maybe.

But this comment, "Why on Earth would I want to tell anyone we'd shared a table with the Vardys? Surely you don't think that could ever be something to aspire to?"

Was just nasty

So? Sharing a table with the Vardys is hardly something to aspire to.

Duc · 19/11/2024 15:56

I think Coleen Rooney comes across as genuinely lovely. I hope she does well in I’m a celeb, I actually thinks she’ll win (hope she does!)

I don’t follow celebs these days (I used to buy all the magazines in my younger days!) but she’s always come across as a nice person from what I’ve seen and read etc over the years.

Wellingtonspie · 19/11/2024 16:03

Jamie married what he deserved and he will be paying for it forever. Literally.

It doesn't matter in the slightest. I was just observing that they're not middle class or well educated, which.... they're not.

Why nasty? I simply don't think that sharing a table with a footballer and his wife is anything to aspire to? Or perhaps I'm wrong, maybe some do aspire to it? Presumably if they were a keen follower of football, perchance?

Vardy has learned that we reap what we have sown All good.👍

But, this saga with her and Rooney is incredibly boring. 🙄

Sorry but Wagatha Christie wins every time….
but Scousetrap is also very clever!

Oh that's very, very good.

The Scousetrap written by Wagatha Christie.

It's Vardy who is carrying it on. She could have chosen not to go to Court. When she lost, she could have paid what she owed but chose not to. She has also chosen to talk about Colleen in interviews. Because Colleen is the only reason she's interviewed.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 19/11/2024 17:12

I tend not to watch ‘the jungle’ but I’ve just whizzed through it. Ant and Dec are not messing about with the jibes.
Coleen comes across as a decent girl - I still think of her as a girl, I know she’s a grown woman.
The fact is, for a while JV was in the Premier League and part of a team which made history. His wife could have built a great profile from that.
She certainly made hay from it, which I have no problem with, but it was clear from the court case that she goes too far.
She got found out. And who wants to get found out selling stories to a red top rag which is long past its user date? I do understand she had a difficult childhood, whereas Coleen obviously comes from a loving, solid family. There is a huge contrast there.
My only sense is that RV has a feeling of lack and always needs more? And it’s backfired.
She should never have taken the case so far.
She lost, and continues to lose face.
No doubt we will have a ‘jungle jibes destroyed my mental health’ interview in a few weeks….

Sharing a table with Colleen might be something to aspire to. Sharing a table with Bitchface Vardy is something I’d go a long way out of my way to avoid.

Oreyt · 19/11/2024 17:27

@RobertaFirmino

It's Jamie I feel sorry for. He should have retired a few years ago and be embarking on management. Instead, he's got to spend another season slogging it out on the pitch

Don't make me laugh. My husband has been to war 6 times yet we never have a month where all bills are paid!!!

I can't believe lawyers actually agreed to represent RV. I mean any good, ethical solicitor would surely have looked through the details of the case and realised very quickly that Rooney had a watertight case in her favour and RV had zero chance of success?

She had a very good chance of success hence why Colleen offered to settle several times.

It’s just that during the disclosure stage which only happens at court, it came out she’d told a string of lies. Add in her electronics and that of her agent erasing themselves, irretrievably breaking down and on one notable occasion falling off a boat into the North Sea (oh, come on!) plus the fact she was an appallingly bad witness on the stand and her very good case fell apart.

Rooney would have been advised to offer to settle before court, not necessarily because her team believed her to be unlikely to win, but because a judge wants to see those attempts be made. The settlement offers reflected well on Colleen Rooney, whereas Vardy’s rejection of the offers reflected poorly on her.

🙄🙄🙄 Oh god she will as well, especially if Colleen wins IAC. Cue another sad face interview with the sun a newspaper. Wonder if she'll try and use it as a reason to knock a few quid off the final, final legal bill.
