To not feel very sorry for Rebekah Vardy

This Rebekah Vardy Colleen Rooney business has ended up costing a huge amount of money. Now RV has to pay costs of £1.6 million. Total madness. Why did she do it. Obviously thought she'd win. The phone falling into the sea. Hmm how convenient.

@Wellingtonspie I think it's so she can keep the feud going and keep getting publicity. She seems to think anything written about her is a good thing, even though I've never seen anything positive. She's up there with her mate Lauryn Goodman in the unpopular stakes.

Jamie will be dumped when he stops earning as much. But only if she's found another mug man to take his place. She's too old to bag another footballer now.

Do you really think so?

I imagine Jamie must have some money invested. Probably something is he's commited to putting a certain amount towards regularly.

In fairness to V she was trying to make her own cash..by selling stories about other people but still, she wasn't just sitting back leaching.

In a way I also feel pity for RV. We were on the same table as the Vardys at a charidee do, recently. Everyone else on the table were educated/middle class professionals and they so obviously.... weren't. He barely spoke and she came across as nervous but very, very brash. Wearing a huge Breitling and carrying a LV bag, as I recall?

I suspect she has dragged herself up by her bootstraps and, in the eyes of those from the same background, has achieved success. But I promise you, no one else on that table would have considered her successful or envied her.

Yancy · 17/11/2024 05:04

RV is clearly a narcissist - the drivel she is spouting lately is a desperate plea to stay relevant. Apparently she's ‘demanded’ that she is put into the jungle ‘to confront Coleen with the truth’ 😳 Classic narc, doubling down on a lie because they truly believe it is the truth. The fact that an actual court has already determined the truth seems to have escaped her.

I hope CR does very well in the jungle - it’s highly unlikely ITV would pay out £1.5m for RV - more like £150 and a ticket in coach 😂

Plenty of people have made something of their lives having come from modest circumstances without selling stories about peers. She has made her bed so now gets to lie in it.

ChocolateTelephone · 17/11/2024 05:22

YANBU. She’s an absolute arsehole and is in a situation entirely of her own making because she was thick and deceitful and selfish. She entirely deserves what happened.

There is a list of vexative litigants, people who have to seek permission from the courts before they are permitted to bring legal actions.

I used to know someone who was on the list.

If you are not on the list, the solicitor will take you at face value.

Let's hope RV doesn't make the list.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/vexatious-litigants#:~:text=Vexatious%20litigants%20are%20individuals%20who,listed%20as%20a%20vexatious%20litigant.

It takes a good deal more than losing one ill-advised civil claim to make the vexatious litigants list. RV has been foolish but isn’t close to the required threshold.

It was a bit of fun.

Good grief, some of those listings date back to the fifties, and some litigants are actually listed as deceased. You must be very litigious to be making claims from the grave!

viques · 17/11/2024 13:10

I think people have missed the point with RV, she isn’t doing it for revenge, she’s doing it for the clicks, it’s how she earns money. The more followers she has on her social media the more money she rakes in . She must think it is easier than doing a real job and is presumably thick skinned enough to accept the flack and the trolling.

An interview she has done with the Sun (🤮) just popped up on my Twitter. I'm blaming you @DysonSphere as I read your posts earlier. What an arrogant person she is. 'Colleen always wanted my life , she's following in my footsteps ' What arrogance!

Colleen always wanted my life.
Cannot believe she even said that with a straight face. Colleen must be distraught that her long held dream of selling stories about faded cheesy 90s popstars never came to pass

Your post is incredibly nasty and unpleasant, even by mumsnet standards. If she did indeed look nervous, maybe you could have tried talking to her instead of sneering with your educated, middle class professionals….,

Oh by the way, saying ‘ charidee ‘ makes you sound very cringe…..

HTH

Totallybannanas · 18/11/2024 22:07

She's vile. I hope CR does well in the jungle, but I feel RV will somehow benefit from CR publicity. Honestly, what an awful women and how can you even trade mark a phrase?! God knows what Jamie see's in her.

Hello Rebecca!

I can't believe lawyers actually agreed to represent RV. I mean any good, ethical solicitor would surely have looked through the details of the case and realised very quickly that Rooney had a watertight case in her favour and RV had zero chance of success?

dontcryformeargentina · 19/11/2024 09:07

No sympathy from me. She has zero self awareness, entitled and dim

Eugh yuck. What a horrible attitude to have and a nasty post to make. Yet I bet you took every opportunity to tell anyone who would listen, that you shared a table with them.

If a client tells you their ‘truth’ no law firm will turn down a large fee earner. I doubt they foresaw the huge shitshow it turned into. RV would’ve had to pay into court before starting a civil action, so what else would a law firm do? They’re a business, not the guardians of modern-day morality. They probably regret taking the case though.

FromFlowertoFlower · 19/11/2024 10:00

Law firms don't run on ethics like that, I work for one. You review the case, you warn the risks (e.g. chances of winning/loses/consequences) - and the client makes the decision. She would have been warned throughout the case of the chances of this outcome but proceeded any way. She hasn't sued her lawyers which is all you need to know.

There is no telling some clients, they know best. This would have been a huge money earner, no way would they turn it down.

How the "journalist" didn't laugh in her face I don't know.

The Sun definitely has to shoulder some of this though. They bought the fake stories and encouraged her to dig the dirt in exchange for "favourable" stories about her, but even they're starting to look as deluded as RV is now.

There was some sort of cryptic post on RV's Insta the other day and all her "huns" were backing her.

I went to an all girls school and it's like a bigger version of the bitchiest clique in the school. They all need to grow up!

CR is a queen though and I hope she wins!

FromFlowertoFlower · 19/11/2024 10:11

Jamie is coming to the end of his playing career. Still doing massively well to be playing top flight football at his age. But it will end soon enough. I really wonder what she will do then - they seem to spend money like water.

So do I!! And you are spot on about the bitchy mean girl clique.

Out of pure noseyness I had a look at her column in The Sun and she talks about how sad it was seeing Barry Mcguigan talk about his grief over losing his daughter but doesn't acknowledge Colleen talking about the loss of her sister, Rosie even thought she should never speak her name after mentioning her in that horrendous text.

Love how rattled Ant & Dec's jokes have got her though 😁.

Ah, Becky's minions have arrived! Why on Earth would I want to tell anyone we'd shared a table with the Vardys? Surely you don't think that could ever be something to aspire to?

Also worth pointing out that Colleen did actually offer to settle the matter before it went to court. It's not uncommon for people to pay money they can afford for the sake of an easy life, so if the solicitors had advised RV that she might get a settlement out of it, they'd have been right. There was actually a win available for the taking here.

But fundamentally, people do have the right to go to law if they want to. Solicitors can't force someone to listen to their advice, and that's no bad thing.
