To not feel very sorry for Rebekah Vardy

This Rebekah Vardy Colleen Rooney business has ended up costing a huge amount of money. Now RV has to pay costs of £1.6 million. Total madness. Why did she do it. Obviously thought she'd win. The phone falling into the sea. Hmm how convenient.

I don’t feel sorry for Rebekah Vardy in the slightest but I do find it uncomfortable that a law firm took on her case when she was so obviously going to lose. I’m sure they advised that and she decided to proceed like an idiot but feels slightly shady.

You have to act in the client's best interests. If they genuinely believe that is to litigate it (and I'm supposing in her case they believed it was best to litigate because it gave her a chance to preserve her reputation, although a very slim one!), they will. That's not shady.

Solicitors are held to very high standards.

Wellingtonspie · 09/10/2024 21:26

I mean if she lied to them when she hired them claiming she was innocent they would be in pretty far before finding out she’s a type

They can't mislead the court, so if she said "i did it", the solicitors would have to either stop acting for her or advise her to not lie to the court.

Likelihood is she genuinely believed a lot of what she was saying, or that it was possible it had been someone else

Andwhatfreshhellisthis · 09/10/2024 21:50

RV needs to just stop, pay up and go quietly.

What happened to the PA?

It must be about £2 million in total? Ridiculous and she shot herself in her foot.

I was very very ill (mentally and emotionally) during my divorce and wanted to get signed off by a doctor but my solicitor said I absolutely could not and the court would not accept it (2010), yet her PA didn’t appear in court? I thought you had to appear if called?

usernother · 09/10/2024 22:40

@Andwhatfreshhellisthis
It was said at the time that a psychiatrist had decided Caroline Watt's mental state was so fragile she was unfit to appear at the trial.

I do think that the way his wife has behaved will reduce the opportunities that come Jamie Vardy's way when he does retire from playing football. She's really not someone you'd want to associate with. Feel sorry for him.

I agree. Apparently he has to do deal with awful chanting at games , all relating to her. I mean, how bloody humiliating!!

It is one of the traits of Narcissists that they can convince themselves that what they are saying is true even when it isn’t. They have no ability to recognise their own behaviour for what it is and will never apologise. They just double down until they are proven ‘correct’. Or in this case, proven to be lying more than once. RV absolutely won’t let this go and I’ve no doubt be trying to spin an alternative narrative to this latest blow. Good news for her lawyers anyway…

usernother · 10/10/2024 08:21

Par for the course. Remember what they used to chant about posh spice and Elton John?

There is a list of vexative litigants, people who have to seek permission from the courts before they are permitted to bring legal actions.

I used to know someone who was on the list.

If you are not on the list, the solicitor will take you at face value.

Let's hope RV doesn't make the list.

Notsuchafattynow · 10/10/2024 19:09

That list is fascinating! Bet there's some stories behind those names.

Got be a podcast there...

BobbyBiscuits · 12/10/2024 16:53

@Yancy @Pinkandbluesocks yeah, you're not wrong. It's not the lawyers fault. The whole thing is just such a scandalous waste of money! I just don't think I'd be able to handle defending her case, even if I was the best lawyer on earth!
Sorry if the terminology I'm using is a bit wrong. I'm far from a law expert. 🤣

Roundthemoon · 12/10/2024 16:55

I don't really get what Colleen was so annoyed about.

Colleen put photos on instagram. She had friends on instagram that were obviously going to see them. Obviously one of those people is going to give the photos to the press.

If you don't want photos out there, don't use instagram

Boomer55 · 12/10/2024 16:56

Two daft women, who shoukd know better, taking up court time with this drivel. 🤷‍♀️

She had a private account that only friends saw. That is where the info came from. You’ve every right to expect your friends not to cash in on a friendship with you. RV’s actions had a terrible effect on CR if you watch the documentary- she really didn’t know who to trust anymore- all from one woman’s selfish need to be famous herself.

She wasn't close friends with Rebekah Vardy though and she had her as a friend on that account.

If I was famous, I definitely wouldn't have an instagram account showing my private family life. Obviously people are going to sell the photos to the press.

ToBePerfectlyHonest · 12/10/2024 17:05

Don’t forget she will have her own legal bills to pay too, likely to be in the same sort of sums.

The judgment in favour of Colleen Rooney was absolutely scathing about Rebekah Vardy.

Edited

There was an expectation that other famous people won’t be running off selling stories which is why they can move in those circles.

Same reason the papers cannot print things from a private account thu Lauryn is private the. Goes public when she wants a story picking up.

Rebbekah was basically violating that and leaking private stories.

Roundthemoon · 12/10/2024 17:07

I don't see why Colleen had to announce it to the public.

If she thought Rebecca was selling stories, just delete her off instagram

Lots of celebs have people selling stories on them. It was naive of her to think it wouldn't happen to her by anyone she knew.

But rebekah wasn't as famous as Colleen.

Colleen was much more famous. So as Colleen, I would be vary wary about what photos I put out there.

I would never have trusted the likes of Rebekah from the start.

Anyone will sell stories on a celebrity.

As Cheryl Cole once said : "I only trust my mam and my dog"

SeatonCarew · 12/10/2024 17:13

Mumofteenandtween · 08/10/2024 21:08

My dad is a 76 year old man. Before this court case he had never heard of Jamie or Rebekah Vardy or even Colleen Rooney. He vaguely knew Wayne Rooney was a footballer but he wouldn’t have been able to pick him out of a line up. He is not all that interested in football.

He is, however, very interested in the law.

He read every word of the judgement and now has a very strong opinion on Rebekah Vardy’s character.

Had Rebekah Vardy made a quiet “I didn’t do this” statement at the beginning then everyone would have thought “oh - who cares!” And moved swiftly on. Within 6 months most people wouldn’t have been able to remember which WAG allegedly leaked the story anyway.

Instead you have 76 year old men who know all about it.

Never underestimate the power of an intelligent and enquiring mind, however old it is.

She was still a fellow wag. In the end nobody else was selling the stories either it was just her.

You’ll always get close friend says
someone feels sad or something but that’s very different to gender selection ivf and such being leaked.

Lauryn should really watch her back here tbh. She leaked Colleen’s stories. She’s leaked Annie’s texts.

Vary is just a huge snake in the grass grasping to any fame she can.

Roundthemoon · 12/10/2024 17:18

Vardy never seemed like a very trustworthy person.

But also you have to take steps to protect yourself.

When meghan markle married Prince harry, she deleted her instagram and twitter account.

As obviously anyone a lot of people that she was friends with on there would sell stories.

The tabloids pay huge money

I think you’d be surprised. You’ve got a wife out spending money like water, she’s probably insisted all of her kids have private schooling they’ve probably got a mortgage then add in international travel where RV insist they all travel in first, hairdressers and make up artist on tap. They’ve probably bought family members houses. Plus the undoubtedly numerous aesthetic treatments RV has.. It never fails to astonish me how many people are on the average celebrities payroll if you include all of the above plus agents fees etc. And don’t forget the ones who are taken in by investors who were them to sink money into tax efficient schemes that end up being nothing of the sort. All of these costs coming from people who came from relatively normal backgrounds. They simply don’t spend money in the way that most of us would - most women don’t have a clutch of Hermes handbags and the like! Their spending would be more aligned with lottery winners than the average prudent person

And five million is gross. As in not nett.
