What do I do...except bite the bullet and buy the blooming thing WHICH I will wear and not just on my 60th BIRTHDAY (I'm of the punk generation, except I was more into Rock music). Apart from both of my wedding dresses...I paid for the second one...this "Dandelion Michael Kors Mini Dress" is the most expensive dress I will ever fork out for.!!! However I will wear it on my 60th birthday and beyond...AND...stick it in the washing machine EVEN if the label recommends "dry clean only".

i can justify this amount of money for a mere item of clothing and I will ENJOY wearing it LOTS...and LOTS...and LOTS...and machine washing the blooming thing...Thank you xx

you’ll regret not buying it more than you will if you don’t buy it. Life is too short ❤️

Same here- remove the headdress and the greenery.

GivingitToGod · 30/09/2024 20:31

YES YES YES, BUY IT

NeverDropYourMooncup · 30/09/2024 20:33

It's hardly Punk Rick to buy and then trash an expensive dress because you won't be dictated to by the fabric care label.

60 is the new 40

Really? I don't know many 40 year olds who'd put their real name and birth year in a user name on an internet forum. 🙈

Unless it’s this one? Which is gorgeous and very in style at the moment. I’d love it in a different colour but, well, not at that price!

It's like net curtains.

Utterknowitall · 30/09/2024 20:51

I think it would be worth dry cleaning

If you love it don’t machine wash it!

This, surely?!

BobbyBiscuits · 30/09/2024 20:53

I like the one @SabreIsMyFave and others showed. But I think you would need to be pretty slim to pull it off. It would be helpful to see. Yellow is a summery colour, but I wouldn't let that stop you.

Oooh that is really cute! I'd wear that. Very 1960's.

I had this in pink in 1967 when I was 14.

FloatyBoaty · 30/09/2024 18:27

Why be so spiteful though?
did it bring you any joy?
did it make you feel better about your life?

It was just my gut reaction, it wasn't that deep.

And it brought a minute amount of joy because it was by far the most Thanks I've got on a comment in ages 😂

Just to add I think if you want to spend £2k on a short bright dress at 60 or 70 or 90 I think that's fab. But if I was your friend I'd mention that it looked like a £30 dress so you could buy a £2k dress that looked like a £2k dress.

looks like a £30 thing from New Look or ASOS.

OMG did you ever hear the saying "If you can't say anything nice keep your f mouth shut"?

Some women in their 60's are very slim - It is a young person's style, but quite hard to carry off as someone out of their teens, no matter how willowy they are {That's just my opinion though}

Newsenmum · 30/09/2024 21:57

I mean - it’s a pretty cool birthday. Get it!

Belindabelle · 30/09/2024 21:58

I think that colour and cut is really hard to pull off regardless of age, shape, size, colouring etc.

However, if you want it, love it, can afford it, then buy it and wear it.

Needtobefitterrr · 30/09/2024 21:59

Definitely buy it but don’t put it in the washing machine if it says not to!!!

Enjoy it and look after it 😁

I agree. These dresses, including the bell sleeve mini dress (in your post from 21.36 today,) are nice dresses to be fair. (Although I can't imagine them being comfortable to be seated in, as they're so short!) But they really do need a slim figure, and are really not going to suit anyone of 60. And I say that as someone who is not far off that age.

I don't know one single woman over 50 who would wear these dresses. Let alone 60! Nope. And all the women I know in this age group are not 'old fashioned' or frumpy, but they would just never wear any of these dresses. I have never seen any 50+ woman wear anything like this. (Except maybe outrageous 'famous' women, who are desperate for attention.)

Good grief, get a grip. It's just someone's opinion. And FWIW I agree with @harrumphh !

That's a cream version of my wedding dress, £3 5sh from Richards in the sale, 1968.

TomatoSandwiches · 30/09/2024 22:28

I want to see the dress.

I want to see the dress.

Indeed. This is all pointless without a picture of the dress.
