Those protestors actually make me feel even less bothered by climate change. I genuinely don't give a shit anymore.

Have they managed to convince anyone?

Strange (though depressingly predictable) to see the activist supporters lionising Roger Hallam on here - the same Roger Hallam from whom German ER distanced themselves over perceived antisemitism and who's expressed fantasies about "the rape of young women on a global scale" Confused

Not 'lionising' RH, just referencing him as a central figure in the sequence of groups which have been instrumental in driving the climate agenda in the UK in the last decade. You're absolutely right, he's also said some shocking things in the context of agitation.

I actually haven’t indicated once how I feel about the actions of JSO. Not once.

I have stated that we should all be concerned about climate change regardless of what JSO do or don’t do.

And I have reported and commented on a post that was referring to people being being deliberately burned as a positive thing. Regardless of what anyone has done, it’s in poor taste to wish torture and life threatening burns upon them.

I stand by my points.

soupfiend · 28/09/2024 19:37

Amazed at the outrage on here for a joke about prisoners hurting each other.

I see it all the time on various threads

Why is it different now?

BeautyPageantDropout · 28/09/2024 19:38

the suffragettes achieved their aims by thoroughly pissing people off too. those women were not popular with people like you.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/09/2024 19:39

Portakalkedi · 28/09/2024 19:16

Indeed, and I hope the posh twats enjoy their prison time. Amazed the justice system actually worked to sentence them.

At least some of them have been convicted before, Portakalkedi, and Hallam 10 times since 2017, so it's not as if they've been imprisoned for a first offence

grumpypedestrian · 28/09/2024 19:40

I don’t buy the hate about relatives being unable to access health care because of JSO.

To care about that but not wanting to do anything for future relatives is a poor attitude. It’s easy to get people worked up about immediate concerns (as proven here), shame people don’t care about longer term issues.

SodaFountainMountain · 28/09/2024 19:41

Yamantau · 28/09/2024 19:33

on the same point how can just stop oil block roads and emergency services putting many lives at risk , seems by your logic just stop oil are just as bad

I haven’t commented on what JSO do or don’t do. My position is that whatever they do or don’t do we should all be concerned and take responsibility. Deciding to care less because of JSOs actions is absurd. Like caring less that your house is about to fall down because you don’t like how the builder has informed you. Makes zero sense.

Where did anyone say life threatening burns?

I could just as easily report your posts for supporting terrorists.

I’d be just as shocked in any context. Willing for a fellow human (regardless of actions) to be burnt deliberately is vile. MN have now deleted that posters posts.

The post was gleeful about the idea of JSOs campaigners being deliberately burned. The post has now been deleted by MN.

@3CustardCreams, I think you may have missed the comment by a previous poster referencing a concoction which, if used as suggested in their post, would cause life threatening burns. The poster is being coy about it now.

And you don’t see the irony in JSO being gleeful about hindering the passage of emergency services thereby causing harm?

Please show me where, on this thread, I have said anything to support terrorists btw. I’ll give you £1000 if you can. 😊

Which is why their tactics are so unbelievably misplaced that they are turning people away from the issue and not drawing them in.

And as for not caring, until there is a global strategy from all governments rather than pushing the issue onto the general public it’s going to have little impact.

Given how even a global pandemic didn’t provoke united cooperation I don’t hold out much hope.

I’ll keep doing the ‘right thing’ but the like of JSO don’t help.

Just how I feel, it’s an important issue to me and il keep doing all the little things I can or am told to do, separating my recycling etc, but huge companies and governments don’t give a toss, we literally have no hope against them. Also the protesters come across as spoilt and privileged, they target everyday people who are struggling with life, getting to work, school, hospital, funerals. It’s like all the perfect elements to get people’s backs up and win zero support. Us everyday folk get held up from our mundane lives by what appear to be public school brats and large organisations and governments just coast on doing what they do!

I’m a doctor and have done a rotation in plastic surgery which covers burns. To allege this action would definitely cause life threatening burns is the most ludicrous thing I’ve heard all day.

3CustardCreams · 28/09/2024 19:49

I’m more concerned about the very real, realised harm caused by JSO actions thus far.

This is often said but it wasnt their actions that got women the vote, it was political expediency.

OnceUponATimeInTheWest · 28/09/2024 19:54

I see the wishful thinking brigade are out in force again. They really don’t like the thought of giving up their foreign holidays or their continuing accumulation of totally unnecessary crap do they.

‘Let future generations sort it out’ - than fuck our parents and grandparents didn’t think like that.

Edited

Im shocked in any context except that its regularly posted on this site and not removed. Usually about male prisoners, usually child abusers.

It’s really not the point but a quick google;

‘In July 2020, Corinna Smith poured a mixture of boiling water and sugar over her husband, Michael Baines, while he was sleeping in their home in Neston, Cheshire. Baines suffered burns to 36% of his body and died in the hospital five weeks later. Smith was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 12 years.’

Regardless, I stand by my point that to wish this kind of thing on any human being is vile. The post has been deleted by MN along with all their other posts so drama over, as you were.

BashfulClam · 28/09/2024 19:55

When they your themselves to art galleries I say just leave them stuck there. I’m sure after being stuck for 24 hours with no food, no water, no going to the loo they’ll not be so keen on those tactics. Also glue is made from oil!!

ClaredeBear · 28/09/2024 19:56

I'm not saying you should agree with their tactics but I can't imagine not being concerned about climate change.

Motomum23 · 28/09/2024 19:57

Anyone who believes in 'the science' is not a scientist quite frankly.
Science is ever changing and evolving depending on what we discover at that time. Trusting it blindly is foolish in the extreme - as foolish as thinking I can pay a few quid to 'off set the carbon footprint of my flight'.
