Inspired by a recent thread, in which I read multiple posters saying you shouldn't wear mascara on your bottom lashes (which I have been doing for the last 30 years 😂) what has Mumsnet told or taught you you've been doing wrong?

The irritating thing is then I made one eye up as usual and made one up without mascara on the bottom lashes and DH preferred the without eye! Don't even get me started on my inability to make a chicken last a week...

I've been doing things when they need done, paying bills by direct debit and standing order, and making appointments when I need them. I didn't know that I was supposed to call it life admin, and make a big deal out of how time consuming and stressful it is

CrumpledBankNote · 24/09/2024 11:26

That you're not supposed to have a toilet brush as only heathens have toilet brushes. Also, only worse heathens put bleach down the loo.

Don't get me wrong - I don't LIKE them, no matter how many different swanky looking concealed toilet brushes I buy.

But if I can't use a brush or bleach how the hell do I clean my loo?????

You stick your gloved hand in it and scrub.

JosieB68 · 24/09/2024 11:28

Fellow bottom lash mascara wearer here 😂
I've learnt that you absolutely cannot ever under any circumstance let your child stand or sit inside the trolly in a supermarket!!!

Yep fellow heathen here too. By Mumsnet rules I'm just completely failing adulting all over🤣

NowyouhaveDunnett · 24/09/2024 11:30

I'm not washing anything enough. Apparently I should have six showers a day where I scrub every inch of myself raw. Also should be washing bedding/towels etc hourly.

araiwa · 24/09/2024 11:30

I answer both my door and phone if it rings

MathiasBroucek · 24/09/2024 11:31

I should have left him/her/them years ago 😂

Rewis · 24/09/2024 11:32

I was unaware how often you need to change towels, bedding, sheets and shower yourself. No wonder I don't have piles and piles of laundry cause I'm a disgusting pig.

Exactly. It's just basic stuff

Yes, me too.

the80sweregreat · 24/09/2024 11:37

Always used a loo brush and just change the brush bit ( now and again ) and clean out the bit it sits in.
The children not standing or sitting in trollies I do agree with ( unless it's the actual chair part )
It was nice over lockdown they provided sanitizer and blue paper to wipe them down , but hard to source these days unless you take your own.
Towels / sheets once a week here and shower every other day ( but I do wash every day!)
Don't do mascara on the bottom as can't seem to get that right. Ditto eye liner.
It smudges on me anyway
Will answer the door , but wary if on my own or late at night and it's not expected
Life admin is a pain and creeps up on me , but the internet has made it a bit easier to navigate and you get more reminders now.
Never can make any chicken last a week , maybe two days tops.

Thinking that noone could possibly want to talk about washing, cleaning or Christmas ' bits' in August

Hahaha I’m here to say that MN taught me I was singlehandedly driving climate change and creating global drought by having two two minute showers a day. Apparently I should either go to bed dirty or go to work dirty!

My friend goes in about 'life admin' and how hard it is as she is single. And I asked what she meant and it was this. It's just getting on with being an adult!

VesperLind · 24/09/2024 11:38

Why don’t we wear mascara on bottom lashes? Definitely missed that memo! I always do it and mine are like spider legs so probably don’t really need it Grin

Autumnalchick · 24/09/2024 11:40

Regarding the mascara on lower lashes issue, I feel I look 'unfinished' if I don't apply it to the lower lashes. Does it actually make you look better forgoing it then?

I’ve been saying things need to be done. Apparently I should have been saying x “needs done”.

Bloom15 · 24/09/2024 11:40

I answer the front door AND take parcels in for my neighbours. And it doesn't bother or upset me at all!

poppyzbrite4 · 24/09/2024 11:41

Be really really insecure about class. I don't care what class people think I am and all the rigmarole that goes with that.

Being seen as 'rude'. "A man is currently treading on my foot. Is it rude of me to ask him to get off?" Not speaking up seems to be de rigour.

Being a skivvy.

Not enjoying sex. It's something you endure through gritted teeth every six months.

Ah but it does solve the problem of where to hang all the towels and bedding to get it all dry... Wink
