Inspired by a recent thread, in which I read multiple posters saying you shouldn't wear mascara on your bottom lashes (which I have been doing for the last 30 years 😂) what has Mumsnet told or taught you you've been doing wrong?

The irritating thing is then I made one eye up as usual and made one up without mascara on the bottom lashes and DH preferred the without eye! Don't even get me started on my inability to make a chicken last a week...

@Hyperbowl , you don't put bleach down the loo, you chuck it.

@EngineEngineNumber9 , and you should shower before and after DTD.

starfishmummy · 24/09/2024 13:10

Definitely do mascara wrong when I wear it. But then I'm old so not only did we mascara our bottom lashes but people also used eyeliner to paint on "Twiggy Lashes".

It also surprises me to see people on social media clips putting their eye make up on before their 93 thick layers of foundation, highlighter, lowlights, contour this and that. In my mind its foundation first!

Kiuyni · 24/09/2024 13:10

Yes and I've definitely become more trans friendly partially due to the aggression on the FWR threads. Heartened to hear there are others.

Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright · 24/09/2024 13:10

Things I do that are wrong:

Showering only once a day
Owning a toilet brush
Not liking McDonald's, people seem to love it on here
Liking my family
No giving a shit if people drive or not

I did LTB though, ha!

Came here to say exactly this! Cheers!

Haha same. Apparently weddings abroad are awful and you should automatically decline them. You should also not have a baby shower even if it’s a normal thing in your circle of friends.

@samarrange @DoobleDecker We don't have Landfill anymore (I think maybe one county still has it?) all waste is now burnt and converted into electricity. It astonishes me how few people know this.

Kiuyni · 24/09/2024 13:14

Love my in laws particularly my MIL. I'm happy to spend time with her, she's funny and kind.

harriethoyle · 24/09/2024 13:14

@HauntedbyMagpies I did not know this 😳

I've been doing things when they need done, paying bills by direct debit and standing order, and making appointments when I need them. I didn't know that I was supposed to call it life admin, and make a big deal out of how time consuming and stressful it is

Might not be for you but is for some of us, phoning around plumbers for two hours with a burst pipe, or trying to cancel sky before they up your bill, realising your health insurance doesn’t cover something you can’t afford, trying to get an appointment for your child that you’ve been waiting for for two years … And some direct debits would be due before payday so we have to phone to pay. Not everyone is in the same position and it is ‘life admin’- I can say eg I’ve cleaning, spreadsheets, gardening, proofing, filing … why can’t I say life admin in relation to bills and appointments?

BabyOwlinthePlumeria · 24/09/2024 13:15

If another persons actions bother you, speak up about it, but mind your own damn business while you do it

AubrieDog · 24/09/2024 13:15

Thinking. Speaking. Having an opinion about anything at all, but particularly if it relates to dogs...😨

That taking care over spelling and grammar is pointless, and that it doesn't matter if I use the wrong word.

Maybe I'm in a viscous cycle, been high rate and venerable, and need councilling. Anyway, go to go, need to see if anyone has brought my Chester draws and chez lounge.

@PedantScorner - this made me laugh so much. Thank you!

Ineedwinenow · 24/09/2024 13:15

I’ve only read threads on here where everyone hates Mcds and giving kids a happy meal is the equivalent to giving them a line of coke or a syringe full of heroin

Newmumburnout · 24/09/2024 13:15

Why should you not wear mascara on the bottom eyelashes ?!

ChristmasCookie123 · 24/09/2024 13:16

I didn't know till MN that there are apparently adults (there's always one or a few on every thread discussing it) who were so traumatised by discovering that their parents had lied to them about the existence of Father Christmas that they never trusted their parents or any other individuals again and subsequently had a horrible traumatised life unable to trust anyone and would never do that to their or any other children.

That having a shower when you get up, even if you are going to the gym later, and showering after will blow someone's mind.

Who knew you were supposed to be minging at the gym? Not me. I only learnt this yesterday, everyday is truly a schoolday on MN.

I would rather do almost anything than this stuff. I hate it so much. It is mind numbingly boring. Also, I don’t know when people have time to go to the appointments they have booked or be in for the plumber etc. when they have to go to work and make dinner and deal with the children after work. A dentist appointment can create a knock on effect of chaos that lasts until bedtime.
