Labour voters - do you regret voting for them?

They got off to a really bad start and it's just gone downhill ever since. Within a couple of weeks we practically had martial law, we've had riots you name it. Law and order has completely broken down. They've cut the pensioners fuel allowance and all the while they've had their snouts in the trough. 2 tier Keir approval rating has fallen off a cliff - the country has had enough already lol.

Aibu to think that those who voted them in should apologise.

I thought they were in for 2 or 3 elections, now I think there is an outside chance that the tories could be back in 5 if they get the right leader.

octoberpumpkin · 30/09/2024 18:22

no.

5 years is a long time, look at the change in perception in a few months

Key phrase there is "right leader". There isn't a decent Tory leader to be found as yet.

Oh my what a week it's been for Labour.

I'm absolutely loving this lol.

Labour voter here. I'm disappointed with the freebies scandal. I also don't think the wfa reduction was a great idea. Nor do I like the treatment of certain longstanding labour MP s such as Diane Abbott.

However, I don't regret my vote as clearly the Tories were far more corrupt, incompetent and austerity driven.

Labour get held to a higher standard because the press is controlled by rich people.

It's weird to take such glee from the issues the leading party is facing. When the Tories were embarrassing themselves with partygate, Liz truss's economy destroying budget, people dying after waiting in a and e for 18 hours and the Rwanda fiasco I didn't feel any glee at all I just felt absolute despair for the way our country was going down the pan. Do you hate Britain? Or maybe you're French or something?

You might be ok with them releasing very violent offenders early after explicitly saying they would not.

Many people are not.

We’re not stupid for thinking differently to you.

This is precisely the attitude that repulses me about Labour. You’re not the good guys.

Source for these promises not to release "very violent offenders" early?

Who said I was ok with that?

Who said you were stupid?

A decent level of debate is one where informed people discuss their different perspectives and opinions, not just spout nonsense.

VapeVamp12 · 01/10/2024 13:31

Apologise 😂
To who?!

user1471516498 · 01/10/2024 13:35

Considering the short time they have been in office, which has included the summer recess plus the convention, I would say it is far too soon to draw any conclusions.

What did you mean by this?

“Honestly, I don't want to be rude, but the people I've interacted with on this thread...
Mumsnet used to be at a decent level of conversation and debate; when did all the Daily Mail and Express readers come in?”

What do you think I mean?

I've explicitly mentioned that the standard of debate is at a low level; i.e. people just spouting off stuff that they "reckon" without anything being backed up by way of sources, facts etc.

You know how in those publication nonsense is just spouted and people lap it up unthinkingly?

Just different approached to life, I suppose.

I like to piss about and take the mick but I also like to interact at a decent level of knowledge and understanding.

Not just shoot the breeze with and talk past people.

If I'm chatting to an architect about architecture or a scientist about science or knitter about knitting, I would have the self-awareness to acknowledge that I'm not on the same level as they are on that particular topic and I'd take in what was said and be educated.

Clearly you don't know what feminism means. and who gives a fuck if the birth rate is falling? The planet is overpopulated, we are running out of natural resources and we are on the brink of nuclear war but please, let's all pollute the planet with more children and ignore everything else, at the tax payers' expense no less.

"Pollute the planet with children"??

That is a very depraved view.

Why is it necessary to insult people? Just why? It’s really pissing me off that so many posters keep doing this. It adds nothing.

As I say, the self awareness here can’t be helped.

What does that mean?

Do you not get bored of this?

Do you not get bored of implying anyone with a different opinion to you is stupid?

Do you not get fed up of denying you think and wrote this only to double down by explaining how superior you are to “daily mail readers”?

Then the effort you have to go to to perform this faux naïveté?

Because I get bored of reading it.

Your opinion is not worth more than anyone else’s.

Even if that person isn’t highly educated. Even if that person reads newspapers you disprove of. Even if that person is of lower class.

Everyone’s vote is worth the same as yours.

If I did any of that I wouldn’t be bored, I’d be ashamed. Perhaps you’ve failed to notice that I’m not the poster you insulted?

This on a thread asking if Labour voters regret voting for them. Who is being assumed to be stupid in the first instance, so you think? Whose vote being disrespected?

Or are you quoting me to ask me why I respond to people quoting me?

Labour voters - do you regret voting for them?

When the alternative was five more years of Tories?

Are you out of your mind? Everyone who voted Tory should apologise and those who voted Tory and Brexit even more so.

ilovesooty · 02/10/2024 14:25

I'm asking why you're continuing to engage when you're bored and have an evidently poor opinion of the posters you're addressing. I apologise if my question was unclear.

Awwww...I didn't see what she wrote, but I presume TENSsion was rude about me and other people who like to interact with others at a decently-informed level.

And you kept saying that it was the Labour people who were horrid, TENS!

Perhaps I might have had a point about Daily Mail and Daily Express readers...???
