To tell Children's Services it is a malicious referal from school

So DD's school have today told me they are referring us to Children's Services. Ever since I made a complaint they have been trying to off roll her. They are not putting in proper support for DD leaving her struggling and then not wanting to go in the next day. Apparently this is all my fault. I feel this is just another tactic for me to be so fed up with the school I pull her out.

Hi OP, it is really hard and the school are not communicating with you. But I don't think they are likely to change how they operate, even if your complaint is upheld, and I can see why you are angry with them.
The ed pysch and other professionals don't work in your daughters school and possibly have never worked in a school. No secondary I have ever worked in could provide you with a list of changes to the regular programme a week in advance.Decisions are taken by too many people often very close to when the events happen.
And as you have found they are struggling with having enough staff. I'm not saying this to wind you up just to let you know with the absolute best will in the world they can't do that one point the ed psych has fixed on. For example a teacher may be off sick on the day they should be teaching your daughters class.
If the Ed psych moved their office into the school for a week or two and tried to create such a list for the week ahead they would soon find out how hard this actually is.
The school as unhelpful as they are are probably saying to themselves that they have made reasonable adjustments. Which don't meet your daughters needs.
I am.so sorry this is so hard. I don't have any solutions how I wish I did.

Ed Psychs have to have been teachers, I thought?

I understand your point but honestly, noone has asked for a list of changes a week in advance. What I asked for was a list of scheduled church services. I am asking for information that is freely available. It took 6 months for that to be finally be sorted. Someone plans these things, someone must know. It shouldn't take 6 months to get this information. There is loads of information they could give us. DD's new HOY has been really good with this actually. She's given me all sorts of information that no-one could manage in Y7. I'm really not asking the earth.

They're not struggling with staff as such but expecting the Senco to teach I think is unreasonable. I'm sure the Senco job in itself is one full time job if not more!

Thank you for the kind words.

Ed. Psychs don't have to have taught.

Calendars change a ridiculous amount in schools. Usually for legitimate reasons. However being given one shouldn't be hard. Just prepare for it to change.

I had this. Dd was signed off by CAMHS, I had put in a complaint that they wouldn't answer. So HT refused at stage one, Chair of Governors at stage two never mentioned reason for complaint instead told me they were an outstanding school and I was a difficult parent, Panel of Governors concluded complaint had been handled well. I was incensed sent it to Ofsted who accepted it as it raised comcerns about leadership and management (how they handled complaint rather than what I complained about) and it formed basis of next inspection.
In retaliation the school made a safeguarding referral to social care. I suspect they may have done so previously as SW said school have made a referral as you have made a complaint. They said that dd hadn't been seen in months despite getting reports from a tutor they paid for and regular updates from CAMHS. I told SW it was a lie but they could come and see dd at home whenever they wanted. Instead they asked if they could confirm last and next appointment with CAMHS as I explained they were here seeing dd at home fortnightly.
SW rang back saying CAMHS had confirmed what I had said, they were closing the referral and advising school there were no safeguarding concerns and to not worry and to have a nice day.

It's so strange they take such personal offence at a complaint being made.

I honestly don't know whether to drop my complaint or continue to pursue it. It's made difficult by my email address being blocked so don't know how to get hold of the governor person. But how independent are they really?

Primary school? My sons did this!!! Did the exact same to me because he had undiagnosed ADHD and instead of helping me.. a young single mum at the time.. recognise the signs and get proper help they told me I must be doing something at home to make him act out! I’d had made complaints about the lack of support for him and that’s what I got. Children’s services came round and in 5 minutes told me the school had completely wasted her time and I never heard from them again! Schools 100% do this!! I’d let them come to their own conclusions though rather than speak out but they will see very quickly it’s the school and not home.

I will msg you, pls read it, i have been thru the same and it'll include very very important information.

Why are you waiting for the school?? Put in a Subject Access Request to the school - it will show all communications about her, her attendance records, any notes they have put on their CPOMs system or whatever they use to record issues with a child. Include that evidence in your request for an EHC Needs Assessment.

Do not wait for the school to decide that she needs an EHCP. And don't let them tell you that they need 3 terms of intervention evidence, or some such thing. You don't.

I'm not waiting for the school?? I've already asked for an EHCNA as I've said multiple times and I've put in a SAR too.

Or do they just think they are so powerful they should never be criticised?

In my experience definitely the latter!

It's not been going on for years! She joined the school less than a year ago.

My DC were on a Child in need plan when I had a mental breakdown. That was in 2017. So 7 years ago. So obviously the case closed many years ago. This is however irrelevant to this thread.

My past mental illness has nothing to do with my DD's SEN now. I don't have to drag up everything from my past just because I am.looking for advice. And it's not the done thing on here to go searching for someone's past .

always far better if parents and school work together

But this school won't do that.....

Where does that leave OP and her DD?

And why would parents allow "outrageous behaviour" at home.
Do you mean autistic behaviour?
Is that what YOU call it when a disabled child is having a meltdown? "Outrageous behaviour" and "little darlings"

Glad I don't know you in RL, you sound so uncaring of disabled children.

No, I don’t mean autistic behaviour, so you can stop with the manufactured outrage.

I was talking about schools and parents in general, as you seemed to be in the post to which I was responding.

If you want to escalate to the governments just send a letter recorded delivery to the school addressed to chair of governors. The head can intercept and not pass on if they choose but you can escalate further and have proof that it was delivered.

It's really clear from all of your posts that you are a wonderful mum and fierce advocate for your daughter.

I just wanted to let you know that it's really obvious you are fighting on behalf of your daughter because you know her best because it can feel like the world's against you when this sort of thing happens.

It’s so annoying. This is the sort of thing that makes people suspicious about every question.

The OP obviously does need help but it sounds as if she is knowingly wasting people’s time by leaving out salient points (the most charitable interpretation) and trading on their goodwill, in an attempt to get sympathy.

That is incorrect and I'd thank you to drop this now. CS have never been extensively involved. My DC were on a CIN plan for around a year.

A couple of years ago now I asked for some help around my ASD DS's education from EH. They were useless and ended up sending a referal to CS due to me 'not engaging' - this was because they wanted an appointment while we were on holiday in another country!! That referal was opened and closed in a month. And I never did get any support with DS's education but I sorted it myself so all good now.

I would expect it will be the same now. They'll probably see all the professionals around DD and sat they can't add anything and promptly close the case. If they can genuinely help, though I would of course welcome that.

THIS!! "So the referal is that I am preventing my DD from accessing her education. This is apparently because I have said I don't agree with the school's plan for me to have to wait in reception after I have brought DD in for 15 minutes and if they can't cope they will bring her back to me but I can't take her home. Essentially I will be looking after DD all day in reception. It's not a reasonable plan in the slightest"
is awfrul. probably illegl(hve you been police checked/is every other parent in clssa aware ?you to sit in? because this isnt just a one child one problem one solution. Make the noise.ask for support from the playground up.?pta? if pushed tell the local paper....
I am so sorry they are treating you and your wee girl so poorly. I think you sound like your run ning in "Battle mode" and given they pull punches like inform la your refuse education... you just need to let them ...but tell them why.
Is advocacy/childrens rights group able to support you.? It really sounds like you need someone in your corner.

I really do, thank you

I really worried about what high school to send my son to has he had ADHD/ASD and also Cystic Fibrosis and we had a good few meetings with the school beforehand and I got told "we can absolutely deal with all of his needs" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA is all I can say after the fact. I used to get phone calls telling me he has done this, that and the other and is being suspended!! "Oh you mean the things we told you would absolutely happen and you said there would be things in place to stop it happening in the first place" honestly I was baffled at how hard the school seemed to make everything rather than just doing what they said they would do. I really feel your frustration OP it's a fucking joke and In the end my son was sent to a referral unit which I got told told was for the naughty kids 🤨 ironically he was the best he had ever been there and spent the last 3 years of his education there and had zero problems. It's stressful enough having to deal with children with additional needs on a daily basis and to be told that us as parents are causing it!! Yeah because I absolutely love making my life harder than it has to be don't I" pisses me off when people say "I can assure you that schools don't do this so there must be more to the story" so not only are we shit parents we are liars too yay. I knew you were gonna get a pile on but it's refreshing to see that those posters are being called out on it because unless you have been where you are and where I was then yeah it seems unbelievable but it's really not. Hope everything works out for you and your daughter x

Thank you so much and I'm glad your DS found somewhere that suited him.

But yes, I was told that DD's needs could be met, that they will make sure her needs are met even before getting an EHCP so don't worry that it takes a while to get.
