To find these loafers for men so so awful

Light hearted thread with a hint of real displeasure.

DH loves his black loafers with tassels. Wears them at the office everyday. I was secretly hoping I'd never see them again as they are on their last legs but today he bought a replacement pair on his way home.

I'm going to have to see them for another decade. I hate the tassels. I wouldn't mind plain black boring loafers.

AIBU to be planning ways to disappear them or plotting their untimely demise?

Is his name Kevin and does he have a tash?

If my DH had turned up to our first date in those it would've been the last!

😭😭😭 you know when we were dating and he first wore them, I thought given everything else is good, I will let these pass and deal with it later.

The 80s want their shoes back. 😵‍💫

And he does like the 80s.

They could be a contender for first prize in the current 'Wanky things you're guilty of ' thread 😀

They remind me of David Dickinson.

I love this style of shoe ....sorry 👞

me too.

citylightsbehind · 19/09/2024 23:07

Are you in the UK? I haven't seen a London law firm partner in shoes like that pretty much ever

PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance · 19/09/2024 23:07

Boys at school wore these age 15/16 but this was the 70s...gosh didn't know they were still around.
I know brogues are timeless.. but not tassle loafers .

An American firm in London.

...I'm not in anything legal. Maybe he just made it up to get me to think that's part of the uniform and just accept it 🤔

LTB.

I’ve noticed these a lot on men recently. I don’t like them either. I know it’s looked down upon these days to espouse gender stereotypes but they look like the sort of shoes my 60+ female teachers wore at school in the early 00s! They definitely give off old lady vibes!

Celticliving · 19/09/2024 23:11

Imagine the responses on here if it was the man trying to tell the woman what she couldn't wear.

TheGreatIndoors · 19/09/2024 23:11

Young Sheldon wears them

Edited

That's so weird. My DH is a partner at one of those (and I used to be until I decided I'd had enough) and no one wears those. Around the office the men mostly seem to wear suede sneakers.

citylightsbehind · 19/09/2024 23:13

I'm having lunch with a few former colleagues next week. Definitely going to scope out the footwear!

(@citylightsbehindsorry I don't know why but it won't let me delete your name from the post)

He's been wearing them for at least a decade @Teanbiscuits33 💔

I loathe tassels on loafers.

If it makes you feel better @fao, we have a second house and my husband prides himself on not needing to bring any clothes when we go because he has a full wardrobe there... of clothes he's had since university.

fao · 19/09/2024 23:16

So curious about how the posters who said they like the shoes dress. I wonder if their dress sense is similar to DH's...

I had to Google that. I don't know. They're from Russell and Bromley if that helps?

He is late 40s (but old beyond his years). Apparently it's a "thing" where the partners at the law firm wear them (I know how wanky that sounds). I feel so gutted. I am tempted to tell him really as given they're still in the box they could be returned.

He needs to commute in a different pair & keep these pristine in the office!

bit late to tell him now after years of him wearing similar

Thistooshallpass24 · 19/09/2024 23:21

These , they will last forever. The quality is amazing
