To think it’s not just me who gets a weird Fanjo feeling

My daughter just showed me where she cut herself shaving in the shower last night. She came downstairs yesterday and announced that she’d caused the bathroom to look “a bit like a crime scene” and this also brought on the same bodily response. When she showed me her wound just now it happened again.
DD noticed my reaction and claimed to know what I was experiencing.
we both describe it as a bit like when you go over one of those bumps in the road that make your tummy somersault briefly…except this is felt in the vagina region.
Why the hell would that happen? Does anyone else experience this? Is it our cervix clamping shut in some kind of anti preocreative response to danger - albeit a bit OTT a response?

I get this when I see other people especially children getting hurt or even think about it happening. For me it's like a sort of physical manifestation of empathy like feeling their pain. I don't know why I feel it there though 🤷‍♀️

conniefromaccounts · 18/09/2024 22:38

I get pain in my feet at the sight of an injury. Or even the thought of one at times! Weird.

Pusheen467 · 18/09/2024 22:39

Yes I get this! Like my vagina is cringing lol.

Tarkan · 18/09/2024 22:39

I'm another who feels it in my legs especially when I see someone get injured. A really bad injury and I'll feel it from head to toe, it's like a cold painful electric shock.

Fiddledeedeeee · 18/09/2024 22:40

‘Ooof, I felt that in my foof’

I get it when I’ve either seen or heard about something painful!

Endica1 · 18/09/2024 22:41

Fairground rides do this to me, particularly pirate ships with the swoosh down…

MabelMora · 18/09/2024 22:43

Definitely anxious fanny. Almost like a weird twanging feeling.

justasking111 · 18/09/2024 22:43

If on the TV a man is kicked in the groin I get it. So there's something in a primitive reaction.

Again IRL or on the screen heights give me the javelin feeling. I can't look until it's all over.

Grammarnut · 18/09/2024 22:43

Yes, it's common, I think. There is a male equivalent: wrung his loins - but this doesn't really cover the female thing, which I think is a rush of blood to the vulva in response to danger.

Bellatrixpure · 18/09/2024 22:43

As well as this fanny sensation I get a sharp pain at the top of my head like my skin is being ripped from my skull but only a split second

OnAndOnAndonAgain · 18/09/2024 22:46

We call it making your bum go funny, weird sensation that isn't fanny gallops

I agree, to me fanny gallops is when you find a man so sexy you just want to jump on and ride him like a stallion!

My feet also 'panic' when I see or visualise a slippy floor, especially if I'm just in socks. Like a tingly sweaty clenchy sensation that makes me feel frightened. Anyone else get something like that?

Meeee! I've never met anyone else who understands what I'm talking about. Anything that I might slip on gives me that reaction. Sandy beach rocks with bare feet are the worst!

Coffeeisnecessary · 18/09/2024 22:50

Yes I get this! Actually had a conversation with my sons and dh as I thought all humans have it but they informed me they didn't have the same sensation in the groin area from thinking about injuries etc. Most of the women I've asked have though!!

MabelMora · 18/09/2024 22:50

I also get a boom/whoosh feeling inside my head, like my brain is expanding for a few milliseconds. Bizarre!

Aydel · 18/09/2024 22:53

Known in our house as Fizzy Bits. Due to going over a humpback bridge at speed when DD was about 5, and she shouted that it had made her bits go all fizzy. (The bridge was henceforth known as Fizzybits Bridge.)

Awaywiththeferries123 · 18/09/2024 22:54

I get that feeling watching someone walk barefoot on a hard surface. Oddly specific!

BumpyaDaisyevna · 18/09/2024 22:54

I get that!

Whenever I imagine cuts particularly scrapes of skin/flesh I get what I feel as involuntary fanjo shudders! Like a spasm.

DH DDand DS were recounting stories of various mountain biking falls and accidents last night.

"I went over the handlebars and slid along, gravel took all the skin off my knee"

Shudder!

Welshdavee · 18/09/2024 22:56

I get it watching “you’ve been framed”. So every 30 seconds or so when someone falls off a skateboard or trips down some steps. Thought it was just me….

RitaFromThePitCanteen · 18/09/2024 23:06

Never had this in my life, but when something scares me, my legs (specifically my calves) feel achey and like they have no weight to them, like they could just float away.

Cobblersorchard · 18/09/2024 23:06

I get this whenever my DD is hurt or doing something really scary/hard/upsetting, not with anything or anyone else.

Member968405 · 18/09/2024 23:06

I know what you mean, but for me it’s more in my groin. I remember getting it the first time seeing John Noakes on Blue Peter, climbing the Post Office Tower without a harness 😬

Blackgoeswitheverything · 18/09/2024 23:25

Gosh I didn’t know the vagina had such a plethora of expressions.

Infracat · 18/09/2024 23:28

Yes I get this too!! Like an electric shock feeling. Always when watching a video where someone gets hurt. Even if I know they are ok. So so weird.

Saltedbutter · 18/09/2024 23:29

LaundryShoulderBag · 18/09/2024 22:16

When I see something awful or violent. Like when I'm scrolling social media and there's someone hitting/abusing a dog or being horrid to a child. I scroll past and try not to watch but yes!!

I thought I was weird. Why would I get a feeling THERE for something I find distressing

I’m so relieved by this thread but mostly your post. I’m exactly the same. If I read something horrific such as a story of abuse in the news as well as feeling upset I get it. It’s always bothered me!
