To ask what you eat in a day if you are a size 10 or less

Just wondering how much skinny people eat in a day and if I am over eating?

OP posts:
user1471516498 · 18/09/2024 18:27

I do one meal a day 5 days a week, but allow myself to cheat at weekends and have brunch. Once I get to my target weight, or back into my size 8 jeans, then I might add in another day, but switch to doing a 24 hour fast every few weeks.

CharlotteBog · 18/09/2024 18:27

So far.
Tea. One of those berry shot things.
Coffee.
Mocha thing from a vending machine (care home).
Bag of plain crisps (unusual - bought a multipack from Tesco after failing to find any sort of sandwich I fancied).
More tea and water I suppose.
Yoghurt with granola (one of those Nomad ones).
Ciabatta roll with butter.

I might have a fish finger sandwich after a lake swim later (no tartar sauce as I don't like it).
I WILL have a large orange and 1/3 of a cantaloupe melon around 10.30 - 11pm with a decaf coffee as this is something I do every day.

My eating is a bit chaotic.
I do usually have dinner with DS2, but it's quite a small portion as I've either had some sort of lunch quite late, or I've just done or about to do exercise.

EastEndQueen · 18/09/2024 18:30

I’m a size 10 (I was an 8 for years but so much healthier now, both in terms of my relationship with food, increased exercise etc)

The things that help me are:

  • An 80/20 attitude. 80% of my food is very healthy and I keep a close eye on portion control for these meals. About 20% of the time I have treats, enjoy a large portion (I am by instinct a big eater). So if I end up eating a cake when I meet a friend for coffee or have a massive pizza and beers on a Friday night then I don’t beat myself up but just readjust my choices elsewhere in the week
  • I have a theory that you need to choose where you drink your calories. I enjoy alcohol and drink it regularly (within reason!).As such I am really strict about not drinking calories in any other format - so no lattes, juices, milkshakes, sugary soft drinks. I drink tea and coffee with a dash of skimmed milk, herbal tea, sparkling water and Diet Coke.

My 80%

Breakfast: Three hard boiled eggs OR 0% Greek yogurt with chia seeds and nuts. Fruit.

Lunch: Huel hot and Savoury. 0% Greek yogurt and fruit

Dinner: Balanced meal like Curry and Rice, Fajitas, chicken traybake etc. Try to portion control carbs and avoid too many white processed ones. Will have a sugar free jelly or a mini twister after.

Then 20% of the time -treats (Spag Bol with loads of pasta, crumble and custard, crisps etc)

Exercise three times a week (weights and some cardio) and walk a lot

SatsumaCat · 18/09/2024 18:34

Yesterday I ate
Pret pain au Raisin
Pret hot chocolate
Pret hummus and falafel salad
2 x small cupcakes from Tesco
Red Thai curry ready meal from Tesco
5ish chucks of dark Bournville chocolate

Most days I don't eat ready meals though.

Today so far I've only had a decaf mocha and an egg/cress sandwich. A handful of starburst and a virgin mojito. Will find out what's for dinner when I get home.

I'm petite size 8.

EastEndQueen · 18/09/2024 18:43

Meant to say I also chop a Tupperware tub full of veg (peppers, carrots, celery, radishes, Cucumber) every day and eat it about 5/6pm. Helps me delay dinner a bit till about 8pm and then don’t need a snack before bed (or before dinner)

BobbyBiscuits · 18/09/2024 19:00

@FaiIureToLunch your food sounds nice. But ah, you reminded me about alcohol. I do drink a couple glasses of wine a day most days or a couple beers if I'm out. Not majorly healthy! 🙄

BrimfulofSasha · 18/09/2024 19:04

I eat about 2100 calories a day on average. 5 foot 7 and size 8-10.
I have to eat this much as I do an extreme sport and run ultra marathons

Sortumn · 18/09/2024 19:48

Mamabear04 · 18/09/2024 15:44

OK, so I probably should have put what I eat! I'm 5'5 and probably about 10 stone but I'm a size 10. I've had 2 kids and fit all my pre pregnancy clothes but I think I'm bigger now even though that sounds like it doesn't make sense. I used to exercise a lot 3-4 times a week but now I'm not able to because I'm still recovering from birth injuries and my women's physio said I'm still not ready to run.

Today I ate;

Small bowl of oat flakes with milk for breakfast
Tea with milk
Black coffee

Tea with milk late morning

Lunch was left over mushroom stroganoff with rice (home made).

Afternoon tea with milk

Dinner will Sumac chicken with chickpeas, tzasiki and baked wedges (all homemade too).

I don't snack and I make all meals from scratch. I can't understand why I can't loose wright without exercising!

I can't lose weight without exercising.
Have you got a fit bit or similar? My calorie burn is pretty low on even 10,000 steps. It's an eye opener to see what sort of activity increases the calorie burn.
To eat with a small calorie deficit would probably mean I'm not eating enough.
A pound in weight is supposed to be around 3600 calories. It's much easier to eat that much more over a month than it is to eat that much less.

Montydone · 18/09/2024 19:55

I have big portions and eat seconds and thirds of meals I love (fish pie/spag bol, etc.), but I (normally) don’t eat or drink any stuff full of refined sugar, so no fizzy drinks or chocolate or cake or croissants, etc.

For something sweet I would have a yoghurt with berries (and a bit of honey, I call honey natural sugar!)

I love to eat and I can’t bear calorie counting, this is the way I’ve been able to stay at a weight which feels comfortable for me (8/10).

Cornflakelover · 18/09/2024 19:57

I’m a size small10 @ 5ft 6

128 lbs - 57killos
today I’ve eaten a Greg’s bacon baguette and a packet of crisp

and 2 x bottle of Diet Coke

yesterday I had a subway salad for lunch and a sandwich around 8pm and some nuts

usual amount of Diet Coke

PoachesPeaches · 18/09/2024 20:01

I'm 5.6.

Overnight oats with greek yoghurt.
Scrambled egg on sourdough with cottage cheese.
Tuna nicoise salad with butter beans
Roast chicken with quinoa and veg
Yoghurt and fruit.

That would be a typical day. I'm 44. Usually walk 7.5k-10k a day and lift weights in the gym 3 times a week.

I'm hungry on less than 1800 calories.

Lifeofthepartay · 18/09/2024 20:03

Size 10 here, not skinny, 10st 2lb but only 5'3 so technically overweight 🙈.
Today I had 2 coffees with milk and sweetener, then a half bagel with 2 eggs for brunch, an orange with a handful of nuts for snack, then for dinner I had a chicken breast wrap with lettuce, tomato and spicy sauce, side of corn on the cob with a little butter. Will maybe have a lemon and ginger tea but won't eat anymore til tomorrow.
Yesterday was greek yogurt with berries for breakfast, a very small side salad for lunch- no protein or croutons just leaves, then for dinner 2xchicken legs in red Thai coconut curry with a generous amount roasted peppers, and a serving spoon of rice, chamomile tea at night.

Kitkat1523 · 18/09/2024 20:04

I’m size 8 to 10 ….age 59….5ft 6in and 8st 12lb

Have some more protein for breakfast. Just be a bit mindful of carb portion sizes. I don't do low carb per se but I stick to the lower end e.g. 150g-200g.

Walking is one of the most effective ways to burn fat . Over a day of walking you could use up 500 calories compared to one exercise session which might burn 100.

I'm same as this. This is a very healthy attitude to eating. Took me years of yo yo dieting and mistakes to get there but totally agree its all about 80/20.

I maintain my weight pretty well now. If I have a holiday coming up I will track religiously for 6-8 weeks.

Whoiam · 18/09/2024 20:13

Age 34, size 6/8

Breakfast X2 high protein waffles with a spoonful of break yoghurt and peanut butter, with raspberries.

Lunch: Falefels in a wholemeal pitta, cucumber, and rocket.

Dinner: Jacket potato with tuna or pesto, red Peppa pasta or chicken casserole.

Snacks: biscuits and coffee, one chocolate bar daily, usually a small KitKat or like.

TheOliveGoose · 18/09/2024 20:14

I'm 5'6" and a size 8. I have to eat about 2100 calories a day to maintain my weight. I exercise a fair bit though, it would be 1600 without exercise.

Straitjacketsandroses · 18/09/2024 20:25

I’m an 8-10 5ft 5:

breakfast: black coffee (lots)
lunch: Greek yoghurt, seeds, chopped nuts, fruit
snack: varies from toast or couple of biscuits to cheese & crackers (never more than a couple). Today it was two small fairy cakes!
dinner: Gousto usually (today was hoisin salmon wraps).
maybe a couple of small glasses of wine in the evening or a cup of tea & chocolate

We do eat takeaways but not every week!

Patcherdog · 18/09/2024 20:33

I'm 5 foot and a size 6/8.

Breakfast: 2 weetabix with milk, lots of tea
Lunch: Ham or tuna sandwich, crisps, fruit

Just wondering how much skinny people eat in a day and if I am over eating?

A size 10 can vary
Also, skinny is just as offensive as fat

Hdkatznahtw125sgh · 18/09/2024 20:50

I’m not pretending to be healthy. I’m a size 10. I lost 4 stone a few years ago, maintained since.

I put myself on a diet if I get closer to the 11 stone mark than the 10.

I only eat 2 meals a day.

xsquared · 18/09/2024 20:51

Size 8 rather than 10, but 5 ft 2. Definitely not skinny.

Pre run: Banana 2 rice cakes with peanut butter

Post run: Half a portion of overnight oats with chia seeds, honey and raspberries milk and Greek yoghurt.
Coffee and milk.

Mid morning: Coffee and milk. Slice of brown bread and butter.

Lunch: Large bowl of egg fried rice made with 2 eggs and kimchi.

Afternoon snack: Tunnock's caramel wafer and ☕️.

Dinner: Cheese fondu with French bread chunks, brocolli, carrot sticks, celery sticks.
Some jalapeno crisps.
Apple from our tree.

I'm hungry again!

Gowlett · 18/09/2024 20:54

I think it’s fine to say skinny & fat. Might just be me!

Posted too soon. One meal will be soup or a noodle pot or a protein pudding plus snacks. The other fake chicken and broccoli or similar. I snack way too much but all low calorie stuff.

Gym a few times a week.

Octomingo · 18/09/2024 21:15

I'm a 12 at 5'9. Classed as slim, but worried I'm getting a thicker, middle aged wall.

I eat:
Yoghurt and black coffee and granola
Couple of biscuits
Ryvita or something and cheese for lunch. Possibly biscuit.
Veggie curry or fish and spuds or chilli or something for tea.
Possibly small choc bar- aldi rip off.

If I didn't like my weekend beer and wine and had less of a sweet tooth, I'd be sorted. I gym/run 2 or 3 times a week. Never been on a diet in my life, but have realised that I've Spent probably 30 years worrying about whether my body is slim enough/stomach flat enough, even to other people it is. I could die tomorrow. I could get dementia in 20 years and have no idea who I am. I need to stop worrying about a few extra pounds and enjoy when I want.
