That’s odd, @JaneJeffer . Mine says the worst score for my gender, female, is 1212 but yours says it’s 9696.
(I would say this is an example where sex is more important than gender, but that’s for a different MN board).

Perhaps they mean gender and age-range?

Edited

Are you in a younger age range?

Verv · 17/09/2024 10:06

Your boundary is at hue 175, bluer than 59% of the population. For you, turquoise is green.

ItWasOnAStarryNight · 17/09/2024 10:25

Did it twice. Different results. Load of nonsense

RichardMarxisinnocent · 17/09/2024 10:50

mathanxiety · 16/09/2024 23:48

Mine is at 174. Apparently I am a true neutral.

Same here

Caerulea · 17/09/2024 10:54

Oooo I love things like this, though it's really just for fun. Too many variables to get a proper 'answer'. I'm blue for turquoise but I've just done this around 20 times on two different phones positioning the 2nd phone (with the final chart on) in different rotations around the one I'm using & get wildly different results. Also different results if my browser is in light or dark mode.

However...

Were I to be told this room were blue I would be questioning my sanity. Cos that's green. IT'S GREEN

Do people just not know what Turquoise is?
Cattenberg · 17/09/2024 10:59

Apparently my turquoise is green. But I only chose green because turquoise wasn’t an option.

I’d like to see a similar quiz for blue and purple. My mum and I either see these colours differently or classify them differently. There are several shades that I call purple and she calls blue.

HaddyAbrams · 17/09/2024 11:29

All this colour talk made me think of the first bit of the song "Quiet" from Matilda the musical.

Have you ever wondered
Well, I have
About how when I say, say, red
For example, there's no way of knowing
If red means the same thing in your head
As red means in my head when someone says red

Anyways. I scored 2 on the panetone quiz. Not sure if that's a true score though as I couldn't always get the squares to move.

I used to have a game that was basically that on my phone. Might have to get it again.

PinkArt · 16/09/2024 23:36

There was no option for neither/ both though! There were shades I wouldn't have called blue or green bit it only offered a binary choice.

This. I felt I had to choose when they felt blue / green. I got this though

Your boundary is at hue 175, bluer than 68% of the population. For you, turquoise is green.

People often seem to describe many purple flowers as 'blue'.

I thought that. My score was 174 which apparently is in line with most of the population.

Yes that was my problem. It showed me blue, I clicked blue; it showed me.green, I clicked green; it showed me turquoise ... it's not blue, it's not green, what am I supposed to click?

redhatpurplehair · 17/09/2024 12:30

179 - better than 84% of the population apparently.

Always knew I was exceptional 😂

knittingdad · 17/09/2024 12:34

This might say more about the colour fidelity of whatever screen people are using than their perception of colour.

KatyMac · 17/09/2024 12:50

I struggled with this as the colour they call turquoise is apart of a set of colours between green and blue similar to the colours orange and purple (being between red/yellow & red/blue)

There is a range of this colour as someone mentioned before sea foam, aqua, teal, petrol etc

There is also a missing yellow/green colour around chartreuse

Mind you I also struggle with all the reds being called red and all the greens being 'green' (& most of the other colours) because they just aren't and they have their own name

LizTruss · 17/09/2024 13:02

I do. It's a reptile with a shell on it's back (almost like a little home) and it pops its arms and legs out when it wants to walk about.

They eat lettuce.

Everyone 'struggles' with it, that's the point. It's just that if you're forced to choose one label rather than another we might do it slightly differently.

I don't know from the test what exactly they're calling 'turquoise'. The Pantone shade has rgb values 85,180,176 so it's very slightly more green than blue. It looks slightly green to me.

icolorpalette.com/color/pantone-15-5217-tpx

Pure cyan rgb(0,255,255) which Pantone calls aqua is equal blue and green light but I perceive it as decidedly blue.

Do some people not have an inner voice? How!?

I have one, but only if I consciously use it. So reading a book, lines of dialogue get "spoken" in my head, but descriptions of things etc don't.

DP on the other hand has a constant inner voice. She says every single thing she thinks comes with a constant narration in her brain. I can't imagine that, it'd drive me absolutely nuts!

I also can't mentally picture anything at all. It's very boring in my brain!

SeriousFaffing · 17/09/2024 19:45

JassyRadlett · 17/09/2024 08:13

Me too! I can perceive my thoughts as individual words if I do it purposefully - like if I'm planning out a conversation or thinking out a piece of creative writing, or memorising something - but even then I don't hear it as a voice.

@JassyRadlett exactly that! It’s quite validating that you have described exactly what I experience.

Blows my mind that other people hear a voice. I genuinely always thought that they did the voice just to portray what characters were thinking on tv and film. Didn’t know that people ACTUALLY have a voice in their head.

SeriousFaffing · 17/09/2024 19:53

Clarefromwork · 17/09/2024 07:48

I find this fascinating too, you should do an AMA!

@Clarefromwork ha but it would be quite boring 😬

FinallyHere · 17/09/2024 19:58

If you do it again, do you get the same result?

Mine's different every time I try it. What is the point of a test like that?

I started very interested but ended disappointed as the results were not repeatable for me.

JassyRadlett · 17/09/2024 19:59

SeriousFaffing · 17/09/2024 19:53

@Clarefromwork ha but it would be quite boring 😬

Literally just a couple of us going "but no, for real, is it like hearing a voice, but inside your head?"

It was such a showstopper for me in terms of really bringing home how differently brains work and how inconsistent our perceptions must be.

Washingupdone · 17/09/2024 20:15

Maybe it’s down to what light we are in as we all know that paint changes colour depending on the time of day.

PinkArt · 16/09/2024 23:36

Exactly, I thought the whole point of turquoise was the green-blue colour that isn't one or the other.
