My turquoise is blue. Hue 169, greener than 77% of the population.

Colour perception is quite subjective, as in the dress that broke the internet.

Blue and Black or White and Gold?

I think “Cambridge Blue” is green, and yet…

Cambridge Blue is very obviously green. It annoys me every time I see the boat race!

shuggles · 17/09/2024 00:18

Man here. We only think in about 11 colours which is why I am right in the middle.

My DH and myself often have this discussion. We definitely see blue/green tones differently. We have a painted wall which I can easily see green in but he insist its JUST blue, and there is a shade on a car which I see is green and he insists is JUST blue!

SpidersAreShitheads · 17/09/2024 00:19

I’m very clearly a blue 😂

Also, I have no inner voice 🤷‍♀️

I did that though colour test the Pantone one
https://www.xrite.com/hue-test
Was ok.

I got zero. I have always enjoyed different shades of colour, from sorting crayons when I was little to never being able to decide the exact shade of paint because I like so many!

Wow that is actually impressive.

I also got 0 on the Pantone/X Rite test, which proves Cambridge Blue is green. 😉

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 17/09/2024 00:23

I have got 0 on that Pantone test before, and done similarly on other such tests.

UmopapIsdn · 17/09/2024 00:24

Your boundary is at hue 174, just like the population median. You're a true neutral.

Whatever that means!

PigeonLady · 17/09/2024 00:27

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 16/09/2024 23:59

Me and my DH often disagree on blue/green.
This test is interesting!

My DD sees it differently with her left/right eyes!
One of her eyes sees colour as a cold version and one is warm hued... I thought she was talking nonsense when she was telling me. But when I looked it up, it's a thing!
So she looks at things with both eyes or one or the other before deciding what she sees!

That is crazy!

You should ask her what happens to warm colour when she looks with her cool eye and vice versa.

I don't even think that is turquoise, it's more aquamarine to me. But then I had this bitch of a colleague I hated who had this ugly little Fiat that she insisted was turquoise, it wasn't, it was pistachio at best! breathes.

urbanbuddha · 17/09/2024 00:28

mathanxiety · 16/09/2024 23:48

Mine is at 174. Apparently I am a true neutral.

Me too! Who’d have thought.

EBearhug · 17/09/2024 00:30

I got 173, and 2 - I knew a couple on the Pantone weren't quite right, but I couldn't get the squares to shift over. I may try again tomorrow on a bigger screen.

Linguistically, red is usually the first colour any population describes and blues are last. Humans aren't as good at distinguishing hues at thr bluer end of the spectrum.

Although the whole point of turquoise is it's a mix of blue and green, not really one nor tother, but both.

Oh that is weird, do it to one of your own posts. Is it pink or purple. Left eye sees pink, right eye sees purple. I'm going to look like a lunatic now winking at things.

itsallsohard · 17/09/2024 00:36

My mum (RIP) and I used to argue, jokingly, about turquoise and teal and all those shades, which she always saw more as green and I more as blue. I remember (but can't be bothered to find) solid studies showed than women on the whole see turquoise shades (note plural!) as more green and men as more blue.

Guess that makes me a man 😂

I got 0!! I am thrilled.

urbanbuddha · 17/09/2024 00:39

Interestingly my father was badly red/green colour blind but I think I’m tetrachromatic.

BobbyBiscuits · 17/09/2024 00:44

Mine said it was blue as well. I mean, it is a light shade of blue. Nobody ever says turquoise is green do they? There's obviously some green in there compared with like a royal blue or something...quite interesting?!

SchrodingersKitty · 17/09/2024 00:44

Fascinating! I got a neutral 174 on the blue/green and a perfect 0 on the Pantone. Pretty chuffed at age of 60 and late at night. I always told my late DH that my colour vision was good (as we quibbled about precise shades). Wish he was here for me to crow about it.

I always found it a bit ironic that the Tiffanys box is named the Tiffany Blue Box when it's clearly green.

It's blue 🤣

Demonhunter · 17/09/2024 00:51

My hue is 166, greener than 89% of the population apparently but my turquoise is blue.

TouringTheTearooms · 17/09/2024 00:56

Your boundary is at hue 184, bluer than 93% of the population. For you, turquoise is green.

Well yes, turquoise IS green(ish) 🤔

Domainedor · 17/09/2024 01:07

This green my mind.

MonsteraMama · 17/09/2024 01:12

I'm apparently a very boring slap bang in the middle true neutral. My red-green colour blind husband is much greener than average, apparently.
