No I don't want a visible like button, but I would like a laughing one. I find so many people on here really funny and I like to show my appreciation at their humour. It would save me a lot of 😂😂 comments if I could just press a button.

I agree.

HoppityBun · 15/09/2024 21:30

Agreed

LeavesTrees · 15/09/2024 21:31

Also agree!

WhatNext24 · 15/09/2024 21:31

Yes, I was just thinking this today! I don't want an array of buttons, just a laughter one. One of the best things about MN is the wit of many posters.

pinkstripeycat · 15/09/2024 21:31

Agree

I quite often use a thanks to thank but also if iv found something funny but if there was the same thing for funny I’d use that!

there are some amusing replies that I would definitely acknowledge but wouldn’t want to disrupt the thread saying so.

MaybeItWasMe · 15/09/2024 21:33

Totally agree. What’s wrong with having a like button?

Many people have said in the past they don't want it turning into a popularity contest like other platforms by having a like button so that's why they have a thanks one.

I’d also like an eye roll button.

gamerchick · 15/09/2024 21:39

I think if you want something to be like Facebook, then go to Facebook.

I’d also like an eye roll button.

My eyes get a lot of exercise.

I’d also like an eye roll button.

I'd get far more use of that!!

I’m still laughing at Fjord Focus.

WagnersFourthSymphony · 15/09/2024 21:53

Generally, buttons - even private ones - help reduce the number of repetitive comments thanking or agreeing.

It would be fun to have a LOL button too, but people usually know why they're being thanked. As for being public, I can understand why TPTB don't want to start popularity contests. On good-natured threads it would be good to see other LOLs out there, but just imagine how it could be abused on AIBU.

Because we can't see how many have thanked other people, I can't tell if it's OTT to use it often. Perhaps I'm too liberal with mine, or too mean. But it's nice to be thanked, so the private use of thanks isn't at all pointless.

SonjaBarkerFinch · 15/09/2024 21:54

I’d like a button for whole range of emotions on MN. I always like it when I get a thanks for a witty quip.

I doubt it would turn into a popularity contest as no one on MN is popular 🤣

DadJoke · 15/09/2024 21:55

I like private thanks - particularly useful in threads where there is a pile-on and the quiet people support your view. If you say something funny and you get thanks it’s pretty obvious what it’s for.

Thistooshallpass24 · 15/09/2024 21:58

🆒👍yes please, there's some hilarious comments on here

Whothefuckdoesthat · 15/09/2024 21:58

I use it quite liberally, both to show I agree with something and when someone has made me laugh.

I suppose it’s a Thanks button rather than a Like button so they don’t have to deal with anyone accusing them of pinching the idea, but I think it’s probably the best compromise without having a range of emojis, especially when some topics are very sensitive. Although I’d definitely be in favour of a Fuck Right Off button.

PuppyMonkey · 15/09/2024 21:58

Really need this button Hmm

beetr00 · 15/09/2024 22:01

@Demonhunter I did try at end of last year 🙂

NippyCrab · 15/09/2024 22:03

I agree an appreciation for some of the laugh out loud comments would be great. How about a hug one too? 🤔 I think an eyeroll one would just start off bun fights tbh.🙄

Spomb · 15/09/2024 22:08

i think it would be used sarcastically.

If they do, it should be private as otherwise we would get people posting out all sorts of crap for public appreciation.

RockyRogue1001 · 15/09/2024 22:08

I'd like flowers or a heart.

A poster wrote something salon a thread I was reading earlier, so I thanked them, it was a kind of virtual hug

Demonhunter · 15/09/2024 22:10

beetr00 · 15/09/2024 22:01

Well they've had nearly a year since you requested it so I guess our prayers aren't being answered 😐
