No I don't want a visible like button, but I would like a laughing one. I find so many people on here really funny and I like to show my appreciation at their humour. It would save me a lot of 😂😂 comments if I could just press a button.

i think it would be used sarcastically.

If they do, it should be private as otherwise we would get people posting out all sorts of crap for public appreciation.

Yeah I think they could introduce them privately. Also like a PP has said, a hug emoji might be nice, when sometimes you really feel for someone but don't really have the words for a comment that isn't just repeating what others have said.

I’m still laughing at Fjord Focus.

Prime example of how quick witted some people are! 😂

I basically use it as a like, normally for this is funny or I agree.

TheClawDecides · 15/09/2024 22:17

I agree but then again I also think we should have a visible like button.

The pearl clutching over the very idea, has always been quite amusing though.

Demonhunter · 15/09/2024 22:20

Maybe a LTB button would cut half the repetitive comments down on many posts too.

It's all very frowned upon now to have anything that can be seen as visibly critical. Youtube even removed dislike visibility, yet people can still write critical comments, which can be a lot harsher than just having them click a button to show disapproval.

I'd quite like a button that shoots MNetters in the arse if they quote the opening post.

Bonus kick in the fanny button if the post is extra long.

I've accidentally done that before, too busy typing away to realise I'd clicked quote. However, I agree, so I'd take the shot in the arse or the kick in the fanny as deserved, as long as it's not a winkle picker 😬

No I feel bad now.

Perhaps just a light pistol whipping with a Nerf gun for a first offence.

But any more and it's a full on fanny kick with a pair of Dr Martens! 😁

I agree - an invisible laughing button would be good too, just like the invisible thanks/like one we have.

RosannaSpider · 15/09/2024 22:53

I think a laugh and a heart one

Sheepchops · 15/09/2024 22:56

No the laugh button on Facebook is mostly used to mock - can’t see it being any different here

I agree. It's just used sarcastically on fb and I wish there was a "hide reactions" button on there.

I do remember years and years ago before you could just post emojis from your phone, and you had to do all this >> grin << nonsense using symbols next to the very limited selection. There was uproar when it was suggested mn added more emoji choice as nothing sums up a post better than long winded dialogue, and we'd all be dumbed down apparently. 18 years later and you can pretty much use any emoji out there if it's on your phone!

Oooh you may be onto something there!

I wonder if a 'hide reactions' setting would be something that MNHQ could do?

That way we could finally get a like button for those who want one, and those who don't couldn't see it?
