Valentina Petrillo shouldn't be allowed to compete in the women's race

Valentina Petrillo only started transitioning 5 years ago and previously competed as a man. How can that be fair? I appreciate that she did not make the final, but she's taken the place of a woman who has worked her arse off, but couldn't surpass Valentina's natural advantage.

Ah, well I'm very happy to think about feelings - those of female athletes, who are the only people whose feelings are relevant in the context of female sports.

The athlete has a visual impairment I believe. They aren't claiming that being transgender is a disability.

This one? Yes I remember Buckley complaining that women, experts in breastfeeding, were saying that no male should be feeding the artificially induced secretions of unknown composition and drug interactions to any infant. Considering how many of us mothers where told we couldn’t have so many things while breastfeeding, how the fuck can any medical doctor encourage a male person to do this as supposedly Buckley’s endocrinologist did? There is no research done, therefore medical specialists who have encouraged this are experimenting on infants.

We have already seen the IOC stance on this and it is to allow males in female competition.

Not only wrong it is a blatant attempt at cheating and I really don’t understand why the Paralympic Sports Bodies - who go out of their way to make sure that as far as possible Paralympic athletes are pitted like against like - refuse to recognise this.

This is a man who clearly has huge psychological issues about losing, couldn’t win any more against men, so cough transitioned and now (hooray) seems as though he can’t win against women either. He will have to turn his cheating ways to racing against little kids next.

Can the IOC be sued on the grounds of sex discrimination? Ditto the appropriate sporting bodies?

How the fuck can someone be a “trans mother” when he is the biological father of the baby?

It’s not the IOC , it’s individual countries sports bodies who decide in the Paralympics, and as far as the Italian sports bodies are concerned if you say you are a woman you are a woman.

Even if your shorts call you out as a liar.

What baffles me most is presumably in cases where the disability isnt very obvious paralympians must need to somehow "prove" thast they are hearing/sight impaired or similar.
So this person has had to prove they are sight impaired but not that they are a woman?

Absolutely no question, no they shouldn't be allowed to compete.

I've posted before about my experience of a trans woman in an indoor rowing European championship event, this was a non para event (i had a para classification) and had a transwoman in her 60's racing against women at least half her age, some of these women were in the armed forces so extremely fit. I thought it was great that the trans woman could compete in the race.

The transwoman was bigger and physically stronger and despite the massive age difference won by a clear majority, the three fastest women were all within a couple of seconds of each other. That one race showed to me that biology does matter and that trans athletes (of which you never hear of trans men encountering this problem) shouldn't be allowed to compete.

i had a para classification and then ultimately the classification system changed and I no longer met the requirements to be classified so I can't compete any more, this was heartbreaking and infuriating but I understand it, my heartbreaks more for the Italian VI athlete who may now never get to compete in a Paralympic's due to this.

I realise that stripy. My comment with in regards to in AB athletics you can't run as a woman if you are a transwoman.

So how come in para athletics you can?

My point being it isn't a disability so why the difference in Ab and para?

I completely agree. A biological male with a penis should not be in a woman's race.

Nor, it should be said, even if he's lost his penis.
