£1 million or go back to the 90’s?

I’d choose to go back and do it all again.

I was 13-23, had an 80’s childhood and 90’s teens/young adult years.
Yes I know many say oh it’s just your youth, everyone feels the same, i‘m not sure if they do, It was an insane time to be young and naughty, we thought those days would last forever…the dancing to house music until 6 am, the booze and cigarettes, listening to indie & Brit pop in pubs, the music, the clothes, the films, the excitement and freedom
Me then, wouldn’t recognise me now

I get whst your saying and I'm just a couple of years older so it was my youth too ,but most people look back on their youth with rose coloured glasses ,I was watching top of the pops 1996 last night and I was right back there in my student house on the verge of a qualifying as a nurse living my best life
But no I wouldn't go back.

Nourishinghandcream · 31/08/2024 15:34

Most people feel like that about "their" era.
The 90''s were no more magical or special than the times before or after. It is your youth and of course it felt good but people born at different times feel the same about when they were young.

Every generation looks back on their youth with rose-tinted spectacles.

I'll take the cash.

HerVagestyTheQueef · 31/08/2024 15:37

The 80's? Yes! The nineties? Nah.

A PP is right: our own special time, usually youth, is always the best.

DrunkTinkerbell40s · 31/08/2024 15:41

Like someone else says, everyone looks at their younger years and thinks they had the best era. I have teenagers and they think theirs is, despite me often telling them how we had it best in the 90s.

Having said that, I would absolutely go back. I would pay anything for more time. I get a bit depressed by aging, going back would mean I might do things a bit different, my parents would be younger again, although... on second thoughts, I would go back and then just wait to meet my husband and children so probably wouldn't enjoy it!

Chipbarm · 31/08/2024 15:51

@DrunkTinkerbell40s But you would as you’d know they were in the future and for me, it would make me enjoy all the lack of responsibility from back then even more 😅

£1 million now no contest

Nadeed · 31/08/2024 16:00

I am older. I was not young in the nineties. It was the best years so far.

Prawncow · 31/08/2024 16:00

I think that’s just about being young rather than the 90s being particularly special and I was a 90s teen.

I could earn way more than 1 million if I go back now. Some well placed investments ….

amylou8 · 31/08/2024 17:01

I'm the same age as you. 96/7 was the best year of my life (so far), so yeah I'd happily go back and do the decade again.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 31/08/2024 17:05

The £1million please.

Durdledore · 31/08/2024 17:07

£1m please 😃

WonderingWanda · 31/08/2024 17:10

It would be tempting to go back....would I be able to retain all my experience and knowledge that I've gained so I can do it better than the first time though? So many bands I wish I'd seen, places I wish I'd visited too.

DappledThings · 31/08/2024 17:14

£1 million. I was a teen/student in the 90s too. It was a great time to be both. But why would I want to be that age again? 45 is far more enjoyable overall. I'm a hundred times more relaxed and happier.

dudsville · 31/08/2024 17:15

Another million here. Alongside the fun of youth is all the striving. Are you going to higher education, what will you do for a living, who will you live with, where will you live, will you have children, etc., I am very at peace in my 50s knowing all those decisions are settled, and long ago.

romdowa · 31/08/2024 17:16

I wouldn't go back to the 90s. I was a child but I'd go back to the 00s , when I was 18/19 , best time of my life and I'd love to do it all again

doyoulikemyyams · 31/08/2024 17:20

@Chipbarm what if you went back to the 90s but you were still the age you are now? Would you still return, or would you take the money?

Cattenberg · 31/08/2024 17:24

20-30 years more life or £1million? No contest - I’ll see some of you back in the 90s.

Can I keep my knowledge of the future when I go back? I’d easily make that million by investing well.
