To be freaked out about what DD is saying.

On holiday with DD just gone 4 and DSS. DD has just come to me and said mummy I have a question. I asked her what the question was and she asked if she could go to the beach she went to with her other mummy. I asked who her other mummy was and she went on to tell me her other mummy was jody and she lived in a big house, she said she had 2 mummy's at her other mummy's house. She went on to say it was next to the beach and she flew a kite when it was really windy, it blew away and other mummy couldn't catch it. She said her other mummy had a baby in her tummy and the doctor had to pull it out.

I answered by telling her we can go to the beach tomorrow, but the one by the caravan. She said okay, I've got no more questions I'm going to bed now 🤷‍♀️

Nope, I would never sleep again. I’m not sure I’d be brave enough to ask any more questions either!
I definitely do believe some children have been here before though.

Melodysmum12 · 27/08/2024 20:30

Does she have a step parent? You have a step son, could it be their mum? Or has she seen something on tv?

Zone2NorthLondon · 27/08/2024 20:31

let's not get all woohoo Wednesday Adam’s about this. It is odd for sure. Significant,no. spooky no. No kids have lived before or have special ohh I’m the reborn experiences

Comedycook · 27/08/2024 20:31

And you have a step son? Is that correct? So I presume he has a house with his mum and you are with his dad and he also stays with you. So she sees him basically have two families....she is now projecting that concept on her own life and using her very vivid imagination to create the same scenario for herself .

Outandabout43 · 27/08/2024 20:32

That's what I'm thinking. She has recently been questioning the family dynamics that her brother and her have the same dad but he has a different mum.

I wouldn’t be freaked out, kids do come out with this stuff. My eldest used to talk about his “old” house and the gold coloured he drove then when he was between the age of 3-5 ish, then he just stopped.

Outandabout43 · 27/08/2024 20:34

DSS also does alot with just me and DD as I have more AL then most so take them both away on my own regularly, think she might be (hope she is) just getting a bit confused

Has she watched any Youtube Kids recently? If not at your house then possibly at her grandparents or friends place? It sounds exactly like those make believe stories that many toy channels do (eg they will take an Elsa doll and a Barbie and say these are "two mummies" for the baby and possibly make up random names for them). They drone on and on about some story whilst reenacting it with dolls and toys. 4-5 year olds have active imaginations and love to "be" new people every day. DD talks like this all the time, pretending she's someone else. She asks entirely out of context questions whilst roleplaying and I've been caught off guard a few times. However I know her favourite characters and storylines by now so I can spot it. The "baby in the tummy" part sounds extremely familiar and is one of the most popular social media narratives.

We've all been here before, and we'll all return. Children are just better at remembering past lives.

Farmwifefarmlife · 27/08/2024 20:38

My daughter was exactly the same! She had a whole other family and went in to quite some detail about them and being with them ect she was around 4/5 and it was the time that we fully blended family’s she has a older SS and she has a brother also on her mums side I think it had a lot to do with it also. She grew out of it eventually, we just used to acknowledge it but not ask to much if that makes sense.

sunnydayhereandnow · 27/08/2024 20:39

It’s a 4yo thing. Mine frequently inserts highly detailed imagined episodes into conversation according to whatever is milling about in his mind. Sometimes it’s an imagined brother, other times it’s an imagined recent scuba diving trip. Often it’s something he has seen on TV or a friend has described.

You say that like it's a fact. You might believe it...it might be true...but it's by no means a full gone conclusion. Young children have very vivid imaginations...the ops DD also sees her step brother have two families

  1. Gin. Lots of gin

  2. Speak with her and show her your preprepared diagram of the family structure with names. Could one of those names be knocked up?

  3. Lie down somewhere dark and quiet with a small keg of gin. Drink deeply.

No. That’s simply not true
anecdotes & whispery stories doesn’t make it so

DailySnail · 27/08/2024 20:43

Yes! My 4 year old daughter does this. She always talks about her other mother. Her name is Crawleen (😂). The stories are so detailed. I actually love hearing them and asking questions. They all end with Crawleen dying and so my daughter had to come live with us instead.
I find it fascinating.

DD, 4, talks in great detail about her sisters, and even points to them when she’s playing. She’s an only child.

It freaked me out a bit until I asked their names and realised her four sisters were the Go Jetters.

I don’t believe it. Sorry.

Seren78 · 27/08/2024 20:47

All little children talk nonsense like this, they just make it up on the spot or from a cartoon or something, nonevent🤷‍♀️

Teanbiscuits33 · 27/08/2024 20:48

Nothing freaky. Kids have very active imaginations. She could have seen something on tv and created the narrative, or have heard something at nursery if she goes. Any number of things could have prompted this fantasy. I’d just play along and not think too much about it.

Unless it’s not sinister at all and your DP is living a double life with another woman and another family where DD occasionally visits? Grin
