On holiday with DD just gone 4 and DSS. DD has just come to me and said mummy I have a question. I asked her what the question was and she asked if she could go to the beach she went to with her other mummy. I asked who her other mummy was and she went on to tell me her other mummy was jody and she lived in a big house, she said she had 2 mummy's at her other mummy's house. She went on to say it was next to the beach and she flew a kite when it was really windy, it blew away and other mummy couldn't catch it. She said her other mummy had a baby in her tummy and the doctor had to pull it out.

I answered by telling her we can go to the beach tomorrow, but the one by the caravan. She said okay, I've got no more questions I'm going to bed now 🤷‍♀️

When my older sis was young she had an imaginary friend called Gladys. One day she announced that Gladys had left and gone to London and the following day my mum found out she was pregnant with me. My sister always said I was Gladys reborn 😂

My stepdaughter told me several times that 'her other mummy, not the one she has now but one before that, had killed one of her brothers with a knife because she couldn't feed all of them properly ' She was 3 years old, and this was 30 years ago so way before you tube etc.

I disagree. I fully believe in past lives.

It’s fascinating.

Fully believe? Right you are then

Hangingthread · 29/08/2024 22:33

My 4 year old comes up with the most bizarre tales and stories - mostly involving Jedge her imaginary friend. Took me a while to figure out fact from fiction. Fear not it’s just a powerful imagination 😎

wastingtimeonhere · 29/08/2024 22:42

I remember describing to my family, at that sort of age, watching the queens coronation on a tv, with the neighbours all in to watch. We children were sat on the floor watching a small tv, the grown ups sat on chairs.
I wasn't born until 1966.

Cannyapper · 29/08/2024 22:45

Does she watch JoJo and Gran Gran? This sounds very similar to an episode of that.

DailySnail · 27/08/2024 20:43

Yes! My 4 year old daughter does this. She always talks about her other mother. Her name is Crawleen (😂). The stories are so detailed. I actually love hearing them and asking questions. They all end with Crawleen dying and so my daughter had to come live with us instead.
I find it fascinating.

This made me laugh 😂

Yes I do. Issue with that?

paddypipedown · 30/08/2024 22:29

My son used to do this around this age. Sometimes he would ask when his "other mum and dad" were picking him up !! He would talk about them having a red car and various other details - however he grew out of it, and can't remember saying it now (he's 10).

I used to find it really intriguing and sometimes it could be a bit spooky, but I think it was pure imagination.

Zone2NorthLondon · 30/08/2024 22:33

HolyPeaches · 29/08/2024 23:42

Evidently, I do
It’s bad enough to believe in woohoo spooky, but to vociferously assert you fully believe. Well, okay. Fully expect that I find it risible

Foldingchair · 30/08/2024 23:03

Ds used to talk about his grandad a lot. He'd never met his paternal grandad and his maternal one was the Welsh version. It was all a bit weird.

Until we realised his grandad was fully based on grandpa in my pocket.

We've all been here before, and we'll all return. Children are just better at remembering past lives.

🙄🙄

Garlicfest · 31/08/2024 00:04

I'm gonna bore the socks off my future parents 😂 "Before I died and came to you, I was an old lady who just sat on the sofa and looked at a computer all day." They'll be feeding the kid more exciting material!

MotherJessAndKittens · 31/08/2024 00:21

Yeah! my son makes up so many stories about everything - detailed, that it's hard to determine what is real, what is imagination and what is a mixture! I only hope his teacher takes it with a pinch of salt! I love all his stories and will be sad when they stop!

Maybe she was Irish? The way Caroline is pronounced with a Northern Irish accent could sound like Crawleen to a kid 😂

Don’t believe in it, fine, no one’s going to force you to. None of us are right or wrong, we can all believe in what we choose to.

You can attempt to ridicule me all you want. Just makes you look like a twat though.

Are You familiar with the premise of online opinion based discursive forum? One literally opines and, contests pov asserting what’s right or wrong. You’ve gone from decisive fully believe to woolly one of us are right or wrong. Actually The whole thread is exchanging views and posters actually asserting what is right and wrong.

You’re not being ridiculed. You are being challenged. That’s to be expected if yiu post a minority woohoo spooky view. In no way is this the first time you’ve been challenged about those views, so ease up on the indignantion

twat? Well evidently that’s what you think. Ok

You’re being a condescending twat and you know you are. It’s okay to own it.

Mynewsofa · 31/08/2024 07:52

Kids say all sorts of weird shit.

When they say they have a Unicorn called sparkle living in the garden, everyone smiles and thinks oh how lovely to have a childs imagination because no adult (hopefully) believes in unicorns.

But when they say something a bit ghosty, some people freak out about it because they might believe in ghosts or reincarnation. It's not harmless either, because the extreme end of that kind of belief system can lead to DC and adults being thought to be possessed or being plagued by demons and abuse results.

rainbowboymama · 01/09/2024 08:16

@DailySnail Crawleen!! Hahaha I love that so much 🥰

YABU

Little kids love playing pretend, so just laugh along with it

Wantosleep39 · 03/09/2024 14:33

My daughter told me something similar when she was just turned 5
she said to me ‘my mum died because she was so old and you came. You are my second mummy’
We don’t know anyone who has stepmother in our life but few month before that she learned that life is not forever and everyone dies. That information never really upset her but she was keep saying ‘every one dies’ occasionally as she is processing the information.

let's not get all woohoo Wednesday Adam’s about this. It is odd for sure. Significant,no. spooky no. No kids have lived before or have special ohh I’m the reborn experiences

So how would you explain this mum’s concern then?

HowardTJMoon · 22/03/2025 21:35

Ilikeadrink14 · 21/03/2025 17:08

So how would you explain this mum’s concern then?

I'd explain it by remembering that young children have an incredibly rich imagination and lack the experience and judgement to be able to reliably distinguish between fact and fantasy.
