I dont care if theyre pals or not

I liked them in the 90s, they are just old millionaires now

Am sick of seeing them in the news

Prriorayingly · 28/08/2024 03:10

They seem like a couple of thugs to me.

blubberball · 28/08/2024 03:20

I like some of their songs, but I wouldn't be arsed about seeing them now. I'd be more open to listening to any new songs/albums they release, if they're any good. Not interested in seeing them perform old songs.

ssd · 28/08/2024 08:29

I just read they are both in line to earn £50million each from this tour.
Good on them, if i could earn £50 million i would be doing it too.

But the way the media is talking about it is really annoying. Its like we are all over invested in caring about whether 2 brothers are pals again, or not. Anyone with kids knows they fall in and fall out all the bloody time, its not news to us.

I wonder if it annoys them too, the way its all over the media?

Why would it annoy them?

It's free publicity and they are egomaniacs!

This is like the reverse of saying you don't believe in fairies.

Every time you start a thread about Oasis you make someone else remember how much they liked Oasis and that actually they might well try and get tickets.

So instead of killing a fairy you create a new Oasis fan through Streisanding.

It's kinda epic.

Who needs to spend money on advertising when youve got a bunch of people on MN whinging about Oasis?

Well christ, if their core audience supporters are mammies on mn, that kind of says it all

Wtf?

'Mammies on MN'

This thread is full of some of the greatest sexist tripe I've seen on here in a long time.

Loubelle70 · 28/08/2024 08:41

Heard it on news..then all day on radio yesterday... oasis songs fgs. I don't mind a few of their songs but cant stand their demeanors...its childish and theyre too old for that now...trying to stay relevant by being controversial is cringey

heinzseight · 27/08/2024 20:01

Blur need to get back together and launch a rival tour. It will be like being 16 all over again!

Yes! This would be the best thing, evahhh! exceptI'd be 23, not 16!

Wtf is going on?
I don't care about them one way or the other, but do they deserve THIS much coverage?

PuppyMonkey · 28/08/2024 08:49

I think it’s been interesting hearing so many of the old Oasis songs again because it puts into sharp focus how completely terrible and meaningless the lyrics were. Grin

Seasmoke · 28/08/2024 08:56

stayathomer · 27/08/2024 21:27

Weirdly in the last few years any interviews I’ve heard with Liam he seems to have become more sensible where Noel seems to be more angry!! (Not sure if this is actually the case!!!)

My favourite showbiz quote is Noel saying of Liam ' He's like a man with a fork in a world full of soup'
But agree they seem to havecswapped personalities as they've got older. I didn't expect to like Liams stuff with Jonny Marr but did. Probably because Marr wrote everything then played the guitar! Bit like the Smiths!

Seasmoke · 28/08/2024 09:15

Gaah! I have a ' Champagne Supernova' earworm! Thanks a bunch!

stayathomer · 28/08/2024 09:23

Seasmoke
I went to see them once and they didn’t play champagne supernova. Was in shock! Favourite song!

It's probably worth remembering that you're a regular Mumsnet user so the same applies for whatever music you like too. You're as much as a Mumsnet user as everyone else.

ssd · 28/08/2024 10:02

It applies to us all @Kitkat1523
Or most of us all least

I don't know where you live, OP, but I live in the North West, so we are getting double doses of this nonsense. It's covered on the national news then immediately covered again on our local news but at greater, time wasting length. Last night there were even tips and wrinkles about how to get your hands on tickets - "We'll keep you posted folks!" It is news to some extent, because clearly many people are interested, but the drama and hype is tedious. They're really not that important.

Fancycheese · 28/08/2024 10:47

If only it was possible to just scroll on by. Baffles me why people create threads to moan about not liking something. Just don’t engage. Is it really that much of a problem?

Turn it off then. Is that not that an option?

Not to you maybe …but to lots of others…scroll on by if you not interested ….honestly for people who have no time for oasis, they are spending an inordinate length of time on these threads 🙄

🙄 Back at you. If you'd read the post properly, you'd have taken on board that I acknowledged some people are interested and therefore it is news of a kind. I object, though, to it dominating both national and local news coverage in the way it is at the moment and will do again when the tickets go on sale, when preparation for the gigs starts, when there are tickets sales scandals, when people start to queue outside the venues and when the gigs actually happen. I can't "scroll on by" when I'm watching the news and as for scrolling on by on here, why didn't you?

Projectme · 28/08/2024 11:16

Onthefinalstretch · 27/08/2024 19:30

Well I never liked them at any point in the past and I'm so sick of hearing about this reunion I positively hate them now.

same!
