What have Harry and Meghan got to do with it? Are you one of the obsessives from the RF board?

This! ^

@Toptotoe WTF have Harry and Meghan got to do with Oasis getting back together?! Confused

Someone will start banging on about Brexit next! 😬

I’m not an Oasis fan but happy for those that are to enjoy this. I don’t understand why people piss on other people’s chips just for liking something they don’t.

I'm not a fan as such, like a few of their big hits, happy for those who want to go and see them, BUT i said to my husband tonight FFS why does it have to dominate the news to this level! It has been total over kill on every news (tv and radio) today. It is ridiculous and before anyone says it, I have switched over!

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 22:06

Yep, probably Brexit that caused them to lose a ton of money and now having to get the guitars out the loft.

MugPlate · 27/08/2024 22:07

OP doth protest too much, methinks.

Although a few more threads about hating them should definitely do the trick. Maybe a youtube reaction video or two? Some blogs, half a dozen tiktoks, an afternoon with a megaphone at Hyde Park Corner, half a street parade, and some skywriting to finish it off?

MrsRobert · 27/08/2024 22:13

I did like them growing up but seeing them in 2009 enough for me. Hopefully there won't be any more arguing during songs and walking off stage.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 22:16

I don't think they will fall out as they have a lot riding on this and they won't get a second chance at it. Plus the promoters must be paying a fortune already , I doubt they will put up with any nonsense somehow.

I thought that Noel Gallagher did a good set at Glastonbury a few years ago ( I never go to festivals , only watch on tv) and he seems alright. I love ' what's the story ' but there is no way on earth I'd pay to go to see them.
lol at crowdfunder! ..
I hope those that do go along have a great time and they don't disappoint or have a big bust up again or whatever, although it does seem they need the money ( or one of them does)

Liam did a good set at Glastonbury too…..think it was the pre covid one? ….in fact I’ve enjoyed them both at festivals over the years……saw Noel at Kendal calling 4 weeks ago….it’s always a feel good set with a good singalong and the crowds are always up for it…..I just signed up for the ballot….if I get tickets fine….if I don’t that’s fine too

ElfAndSafetyBored · 27/08/2024 22:17

They’ve only ever been a one trick anthem band. I liked them in the 90’s, but you might as well go see a good Oasis tribute act these days. Save your money for more innovative artists.

And they were never ‘the best band since the Beatles’. They were barely a band very quickly - just two ego driven brothers and a bunch of session musicians.

I do like hearing Noel being interviewed though, he’s often entertaining.

Well there ya go folks. ELFANDSAFETYBORED on Mumsnet has spoken. Save your money for more innovative artists!!! Do tell us who these innovative artists are??? Billie Shitelish? Bob Boring Dylan? The Smiths?? 😆

No….there’s nothing like the real thing….even when they perform separately…..there’s always a buzz at festivals when they play a set ( individually) …..no way would it be the same with a tribute band

@Lostinbrum

Blur were overrated mockney shite

Fixed that for you. Smile

I think that’s a bit of a lazy insult. Country House was unspeakable rubbish and Parklife is of it’s time but Blur have range, they evolved over the years. Whether you like their music or not, they are more musically accomplished.

Never been on the RF board ( didn’t know there was one!)
maybe you don’t understand the connection that both are ‘hyped‘ or maybe you are looking for a fight. Not playing.

Tranquiltimes · 27/08/2024 22:26

I'm torn. My DCs are fans & I feel they are being exploited. They were big in my day but not THAT big... Pulp, Blur, Madonna, MJ, loads of other people were big. Liam Gallagher has 4 kids, 2 daughters he's barely met. Not sure he's capable of sustaining long term attachments or relationships, but maybe there's a lesson in there for my kids. I dunno!

Tranquiltimes · 27/08/2024 22:28

In a way, I'm more proud of my kids for liking them (and the Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets, Charlatans, Jarvis Cocker, Pet Shop Boys) than Taylor Swift. At least this music is original. Bit it's still a big swizz - paying for his divorce - & Ticketbastards are con merchants.

NerrSnerr · 27/08/2024 22:30

I quite like Oasis and still listen to some of their music. Won't be trying for tickets as I think they'll be too pricey and I'm tight.

These threads really do bring out the people desperately trying to be cool, same wit Taylor Swift. Far too cool and edgy for anything popular (but of course real cool and edgy people wouldn't need to try and tell everyone).

If you don't like a band or artist touring then don't buy tickets, but you disliking their music doesn't make it bad and certainly doesn't make your music taste any better, it just makes you're taste different to theirs.

So many people think their own taste in music/ books/ tv is the gold standard as their tastes are superior. That isn't true (apart from me who loves S Club 7, Stephen King and Buffy as they clearly are the best!)

You are way overthinking it….if you like the music then try for tickets…..if you not that into it then don’t bother…,…of course they doing it for the money…….like everyone else who tours

Chicca1970 · 27/08/2024 22:36

Long live the Roses

Oasis never came close - Liam used to be pretty but alas, he’s just another middle aged rocker now 👍

Zanatdy · 27/08/2024 22:38

Well I’m quite excited and hope I can get tickets, will be a great show. It brings back 90’s nostalgia for me, my late secondary year / Uni year. Love their songs, but Noel & Liam can be dicks. I’m sure the news will be back to depressing shit tomorrow don’t worry, until Saturday when you’ll get an update on ticket sales!

RainbowsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 27/08/2024 22:45

It’s even making foreign news channels! I’ll be getting tickets, but only to sell on and only if I can get first or second dates. Even so. I don’t trust them not to have a bust up and cancel the tour even before it starts 😂

Errr, NEWSFLASH! Taylor Swift's music is 'original' too! Confused

Lame and weird way to take a swipe at Taylor Swift. Hmm

OOOOOH! THIS will annoy the haters. 😆 Oasis getting more and more popular by the minute! Grin

Thanks for sharing! Things I'm not that arsed about include Jane Austen, beaches and most pasta dishes.

Completely off topic but I LOVE that your username is MorrisZapp and you're 'not that arsed' about Jane Austen... 😂😂😂 Brilliant.

(My favourite username on Mumsnet btw)

HelpMeGetThrough · 27/08/2024 22:55

They were shite the first time round and will be again.

suburberphobe · 27/08/2024 23:01

getting divorced is really expensive.

Yea, I read he has to pay her 20 million. How ridiculous.

Never liked their music or their personalities. They're like stuck in squabbling toddlers.
