These teachers and their questionable choices

1 of these teachers is a mum at my DC school and she doesn't teach at the school. One of them is a teacher at my DC school and the other is a teacher at another school. They are all friends with each other. I'm trying to be vague as this could be outing.

I'm not really that close to them but know of their partying lifestyle. All 3 have children. They often go to raves, parties and do drugs. I found out last week that 1 of them held a party and couldn't find childcare so left their children in their home whilst partying at the bottom of their garden (which is quite far). They were all there and were all on drugs. The school mum host got people to take it in turns to watch the children. Often after they have been out and are on come downs they have their children.

I've just seen one of them has been to a well known event in London. Her whole family went including the children. She's posted pics and her youngest DC is asleep on the floor (it was held on the streets). I'm shocked. I just think why would you put your own needs above those of your children.
But what can I do? I can't actually prove any of this. Plus I'm not ok with them being teachers and coming into work on the Monday with a potential come down.

How do you know so much about what happens inside someone else’s house / garden?

BrigadierEtienneGerard · 27/08/2024 08:49

You can mind your own business. As you say, you have no evidence just gossip.

Having guests in the garden and a rota to watch the children sleeping in the house, strikes me as perfectly reasonable.

BTW, the London event, I assume, was the Notting Hill Carnival. If I had a £ for every child asleep there, I'd have enough for a holiday in Florida.

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 27/08/2024 08:49

Teachers are human too. If you don’t have any problem with their actual teaching (other than ‘might have been out on the lash the night before’) then mind your own business.

NerrSnerr · 27/08/2024 08:50

How did you find out about the party? I'm assuming gossip? I wouldn't believe everything you hear. Hard to judge about the well known event in London. My youngest used to fall asleep anywhere- we'd often take a pic and then move him somewhere more comfortable.

Shinyandnew1 · 27/08/2024 08:51

They often go to raves, parties and do drugs

Do you have evidence this is true?

SmileEachDay · 27/08/2024 08:52

I'm not really that close to them but know of their partying lifestyle

= I listen to bitchy gossip

If you have an issue with the teaching of any of these women, address that through the school. Anything else? None of your business.

DebateWithMoi · 27/08/2024 08:52

I actually agree with you Op, drugs aren't a glass of wine they can seriously harm someone's brain & no they shouldn't be teaching whilst on a come down.

ErasPoor · 27/08/2024 08:52

Are you just butthurt that you were not invited to the party?

Pipecleanerrevival · 27/08/2024 08:53

I like my teachers square and patronising the way they were in my day.

*not sarcasm - yanbu

Frowningprovidence · 27/08/2024 08:54

If you have genuine safeguarding concerns about the children being under the care of parents taking drugs you can speak to the NSPCC for advice.

Yes. People saying its gossip. Its not, I do know for a fact

adidasclassicsanddance · 27/08/2024 08:54

So the children were in the house, while the women were at the bottom of the garden which belonged to the house? And during that time someone was always in the house watching the children? What's so unreasonable about that?

As for the drugs, you have no proof that they were taking drugs in the house. You're not that close to them, so how would you know. If you have safeguarding concerns that can be backed up then report. Otherwise you are gossiping.

Them being teachers is irrelevant - if a child is genuinely at risk of harm, it doesn't matter what the parents' job is. Are they being neglected or put in danger?

Theleaveswillbefalling · 27/08/2024 08:54

Being a teacher here is irrelevant. If you think their children are at risk of harm then contact SS. If not then stop gossiping.

Hateam · 27/08/2024 08:55

I know this is a sexist and misogynistic word but some women really ARE bitchy towards other women.

I'm sorry but it's not bitchy gossip. I do know for a fact this is true

Its not, I do know for a fact

  1. Did you see it with your own eyes? If not, it’s gossip.
  2. It’s none of your business
  3. Have you an issue with their teaching?
NerrSnerr · 27/08/2024 08:56

@Whitesparkled123 you say you know for a fact that everything you've said is true. Then you wouldn't have a problem proving it to the authorities would you?

No, I was invited but declined

My teachers used to smoke in the staffroom and go to the pub for a pint on a Friday lunchtime 😂😂

Wow I'm getting a tough time here. I'm trying to be vague but yes I have seen it with my own eyes. That's how I know.

Are you talking about Notting Hill Carnival? It’s quite acceptable to take children and yes, sometimes they do fall asleep.

What drugs do you think they do?

CocoapuffPuff · 27/08/2024 08:59

Raise it with ss if you have genuine concerns. Otherwise mind your own business.

StolenChanel · 27/08/2024 08:59

Another one where I’m surprised about the poll. OP, YABU. Face your front.

lazyarse123 · 27/08/2024 08:59

Maybe it's my age but I'm actually shocked that so much casual drug taking goes on. Quite a lot of my colleagues tell me they smoke weed on a social 🤔 basis. I don't like it either op but I don't know what you can do about it.
One of my sons smokes weed and it's been shocking for his mental health and people have judged him but it seems to be becoming normalised.

cansu · 27/08/2024 08:59

You are the very definition of a nosey Parker who listens to gossip. How on earth do you know all this as fact? Are you stalking these women? In any event it is none of your business. Child attends event and falls asleep. You had better get busy at all the simmer festivals as you will find plenty of people to report on. Parent parties in the garden while children asleep in bed - report on virtually every group of adults with children at a barbecue.
