She serves his food and he hits her with a plate. The police do not view CCTV and let him go. Apparently "people make mistakes". WTF is going on in this country?

The police do not give a shit about women and girls. As shown by their glib attitude: https://x.com/metpoliceuk/status/1826569459969970586

We are not safe on the train, at work, in our homes. How the fuck is this is the state of "Equality" in the UK 2024?

When I was a waitress at Pizza Express in the 1990s a chef physically removed a man who groped me from the restaurant and threw him down the steps. I was horrified by the violence then but not I feel grateful someone did something. Fucking hell.
What is the matter with the Police? Why do they hate women so much, so many of them are women, they all have mothers, many have wives..... why is it so deep rooted?

It also seems likely that this man will hit his wife, and other women - if he has no hesitation hitting a waitress in the face when he is in a public place and on CCTV.

I cannot get my head around the Police doing nothing.

Of course the Police should have investigated and yes, I'd be worried about his wife and child as well.

Police are too busy fielding reports form mumsnetters “logging with 101” (just been on another thread where multiple posters were advising the police when no crime had been committed)

more seriously, I have had a couple of dealings with the met and they just don’t investigate. Whether they are overwhelmed, or what is going on I don’t know. But they couldn’t be arsed with a serious assault or an arson, both with clear evidence, so fuck knows what they are overwhelmed with.

That's an absolute disgrace. It seems that you have to go to the press to get any kind of action.

Arconialiving · 25/08/2024 18:24

It is shocking that they didn't investigate and take further action. Thankfully social media being used for good has made them take another look so I hope they find him & he gets convicted!

FOJN · 25/08/2024 18:30

The video footage was shocking. Inaction by the met was equally shocking.

So much talk about an epidemic of violence against women and girls and yet this crime (with compelling evidence) goes investigated and earlier this week the news reported that, in December last year, a child rapist was given a suspended sentence because of prison over crowding.

We're on our own, it doesn't look like any government intends to take it seriously.

LikeWeUsedToBe · 25/08/2024 18:32

The police are horrible to women. And actually dangerous. I've been through DV bad met many survivors and some of the stories of police is horrific. Man beats woman so bad she's hospitalised for over a week and the police drop the child witness to the man who just beat mum up and gave him her address (she had moved house to hide).

20 years ago I remember being sat in my car outside a nightclub waiting to pick someone up and a couple men started shouting hey sexy etc at me beckoning me out the car. I locked it and they started climbing on the bonnet gyrating and waving their croches at me through the windscreen saying I'm missing out etc. Literally on the other side of the road were two police watching and doing absolutely nothing. They could see me looking at them and they walked off.

I have had police tell me I have to wait in my then ex partners house because he ran off without his key and I had to make sure he wasn't locked out. I was not his gf- I had stupidly gone round to stop him killing himself in my young ignorance. I said I didn't any to wait he's violent he's been to prison for beating his previous gf up it's not safe I should not have come but he said he was going to hang himself if I didn't and they said well they won't wait and if I leave i will have locked him out of his own home which I am not allowed to do. They left.

I've had police refuse to look at cctv of dad violently dragging screaming dd off and hurting her. Because it was court orders contact so they were not interested. She used to come home with marks no one gave a shit.

And yet I've been asked to give my fingerprints because my parents house was burgled. Wealthy 5 bed house in a desirable village and the man of the house called the police. Just a £500 ring gets nicked and a broken window and they had a full forensic dust and listened to my mother over a cup of tea for 3 hours. I had a break in by my violent ex he completely trashed the house and they said there was no point looking into anything. Refused to dust for print and give me evidence I needed to keep my child safe.

I don't tell my kids to find a police person to help if they get lost. I say find a mother with children.

Men do really do hate us 😢 that poor waitress. Inaction by the police is disgraceful.

aquietlifeplease · 25/08/2024 18:46

Doesn’t surprise me at all. I rang the police while a shoplifter had hold of my manager and was hitting her, swinging her around etc and the response was we don’t come out for shoplifters! She ended up in hospital, we had witnesses, cctv and a name and address for the attacker and they still weren’t interested!

It is a real shame because men no longer step in to help women and the police are expected to. 20 years ago that man would have been stopped by the chefs and taught a lesson.

I know this isn't a particularly progressive stance, but I miss the days when if you behaved like this the police would take you out the back and hand your ass to you in an alleyway. Paperwork and bureaucracy has unfortunately stopped real time justice being served. It's also proven under effective against men like this.

That poor waitress. She deserves so much better.

Today I saw her explain the details of what happened, the police are investigating

Karinas4 · 25/08/2024 19:07

That’s disgusting, but well done for the chef for throwing that scumbag down the stairs!
Those men behaving like that are sexual degenerates, total scum of the earth!
I have zero faith in the police.
I think all women should learn self defence martial arts. In fact, I think it should be obligatory in school for girls from the age of 5.
No one wants to admit, that there is a MASSIVE problem with a lot of men, their behaviour, towards women.
It needs to be spoken about and dealt with.

we also need a society where more people react, like that chef. Barge in, interfere, help and teach those perpetrators a lesson.
Stop them, and get rid of them.
People need to be more proactive and help and react against such disgusting men and their behaviour.

Karina

Karinas4 · 25/08/2024 19:08

They need a good proper beating men like that!

My Dad was attacked in his taxi and had his takings stolen. My elderly father stumbled into the police station with blood on his forehead, all dizzy & confused. Police said "prove it"
Did absolutely nothing

from what I see they are investigating why they "failed to provide better service" not actually pushing to arrest this man....
