She serves his food and he hits her with a plate. The police do not view CCTV and let him go. Apparently "people make mistakes". WTF is going on in this country?

The police do not give a shit about women and girls. As shown by their glib attitude: https://x.com/metpoliceuk/status/1826569459969970586

We are not safe on the train, at work, in our homes. How the fuck is this is the state of "Equality" in the UK 2024?

I’ve only just read about this - absolutely shocking. Completely unacceptable response from the police. There’s also much more to be said about the reprobate that attacked her but we’re no longer allowed to talk about that publicly.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/08/2024 20:06

I hope she’s putting in a complaint. What’s the point of the Police if not to serve and protect. I agree yes we do all make mistakes. However assaulting some is a deliberate act and not a mistake.
There are many times were the Police has demonstrated their lack of care for women. For example Look what happened about 16 years ago with Fiona Pilkington and her daughter Frankie. The Police didn’t a shit then either. She was told to “ignore them” after getting harassed by gangs of thugs. . Next thing both her (Fiona) and Frankie were dead. She’d taken both her and her daughters life by setting fire to her car. If she was prepared to put her daughter and herself through tall that unimaginable agony it doesn’t bare thinking about how bad her emotional pain must have been.

TheNestedIf · 25/08/2024 20:27

She already put in a complaint and they dismissed it. It's taken the incident blowing up on social media, several months on, for the police to lift a finger.

I've also experienced the MET failing to investigate an assault (on someone else) so now I carry things for my own protection. It's not like I'm going to get stopped and searched, and even if I have to use them I'd rather run the apparently slim risk of being arrested than rely on the police to help me.

Sharontheodopolodous · 25/08/2024 20:33

I work in retail
I've been assaulted,sexually, 7 times (over 8 years)
I've been punched, spat at,groped, flashed at,had men threaten to rape me and only last week,a young lad of about 15/16 asked if 'you'd like to see a hairy ball sack' and then showed me his hairy ball sack
The police have done nothing (if they've bothered to come out) even though it's all on cctv-very clear cctv
On one occasion, the (male) officer sighed and said 'well, what do you expect us to do?'
He wasnt happy when I replied 'your job'

I've been a victim of dv-out of 80+ beatings the police took me seriously (a female officer) and arrested him
£80 fine (that he could pay off at £2.50 a week)
Rest of the time, they'd drop him off at the train station (around the corner to my house) and drive off
Of course,he'd come back and they'd repeat everything while making it clear they thought it was a waste of their time
It's a joke-i only got rid of him when he got bored of me

Women are hated

SweetShreddedCoconut · 25/08/2024 20:37

If the police can smooth it over and brush it under the carpet they will . They have to resolve matters rather than go to court as proceeding cost ££££

user47 · 25/08/2024 21:24

its insane, whack a woman with a plate and fair play to you man! Drop a sausage roll and you're banged up for life. Its exhausting being a woman 😂

Not surprised my 12 year old cousin and her 2 female friends had a knife pulled on them when she was walking home from youth group. She knew the boy who did it and everything. The police seemed to expect my aunt to feel sorry for the boy as he has a terrible home life. Not further action has been taken

This is why people are turning towards the likes of Reform. Most people are just tired of watching Britain disintegrating. That's not to say that Reform will DO anything but people are basically protest voting at this point. We all know something is rotten and needs rooted out in our country.

Scammersarescum · 25/08/2024 22:01

There's so many things they don't bother with.

Our work was robbed a few years ago. We had CCTV clearly showing faces and number plates and tyre tracks. They did nothing. They even admitted that they knew who it was.

Only last week we were ram raided again. They did various firms in the area. One had seriously damaged property but nothing taken. The police have told them no crime has been committed at all and to ask locals for ring doorbell footage themselves if they want to bother pursuing anything!

Crimes against women do seem to be completely ignored too.

bluewanda · 25/08/2024 22:03

Horrific. And they had a young child with them too! I hope social services are investigating, but I won’t hold my breath.

lb640 · 25/08/2024 22:05

Not surprised at all, I was driven out of my home by horrific neighbours and when police were begged to help me they refused to look at cctv due to hoodies and masks. When two idiots were on cctv and also posted my address online with a load of friends threatening me, the policewoman who was pushed to attend refused to look at clear cctv of the (unhoodied, unmasked!) 6ft man trying to break into my flat and said I'm upsetting the violent neighbours for reporting them!

Then she went off and reported me to GP for "paranoid mental health issues".

Victim support helped me complain and also found lots of issues (way the police acted and reacted to complaint too) but both complaint and appeal were thrown out within 24 hours of each being logged.

I slept on a friends floor for three weeks with cats until I could get a new home.

I've also had an abusive family and was told by a policewoman that I deserve my father's stalking and threats because I don't talk to him, and what do I expect

A few rare good ones sure, but I cannot stand the police and strongly believe if they can shrug off tricky jobs or a lot of work they will, and screw the victims. Complaints need a huge overhaul too,its just a police image protection programme!

Pastlast · 25/08/2024 22:49

i think you could expect the police to
investigate murder but nothing beyond that. My DH was violently assaulted by a man driving a clearly branded plumbers van. The police interviewed the plumber who said he couldn’t remember who was driving that day and the police left it at that.

Arconialiving · 25/08/2024 22:58

These stories are shocking!

FOJN · 26/08/2024 09:38

This is the waitresses account of events. The lies and gaslighting by the met police are appalling. The two officers need to face disciplinary action.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 26/08/2024 09:53

The police are absolutely useless, I never thought I’d say this, children being groomed and the police are not interested, too much paperwork!

It's not just about paper work it's about money as it costs money to take people to court . When my 14 years old son was assaulted the police dealt with it by conflict resolution which was crap as only one kid turned up with his parent . The others were advised not to by their solicitors as there were no witness or cctv . In fact we were warned that one of the lads was from a nasty family and we didn't want to get on the wrong side of them by pushing for a prosecution. Yes really !

floppybit · 26/08/2024 11:32

I've had the same man turn up at my home 5 times in a psychotic violent state, smashed my windows, smashed up my car, I'm terrified. I have it all on cctv. I told police I have a name and address for this person but they won't even go round and speak to him because he wears a balaclava so I can't prove it's him. It's ruined my life. I'm a nervous wreck. They couldn't give a fuck.

Iheartmysmart · 26/08/2024 11:47

They are utterly useless. I witnessed a domestic violence incident outside my flat, as did many of my neighbours. Phoned the police who said they couldn’t do anything without CCTV despite being given full descriptions of both people, car make, model, colour and registration number. And the names and addresses of multiple witnesses.

Quacksalver · 26/08/2024 11:49

Sadly this doesn't surprise me - I've been harassed + intimidated by a neighbour who's attacked me, broken into my garden, sprayed paint on my front door and spat at me, incessantly over a period of 3 months. He's done the same to another lone female neighbour too. He has previous for harassment and violence towards women. Police decided no further action to be taken against him.

WTF is going on, it feels like a conspiracy against women.

NasiDagang · 26/08/2024 12:04

Police officers are only interested in parking offences and loud music. Assault and burglary is too complicated for them in my area, they prefer easier crimes.

I am honestly so horrified by this. The police officers in question need disciplined. I hope this man is arrested and convicted. He is a danger to society.

timenowplease · 26/08/2024 12:24

Scumbag is so used to assaulting women it comes naturally to him even though he was in a public place with cameras.

Two tier policing. What a disgrace.

Didn't even bother to take his details. I thought that would be standard procedure when a police officer speaks to you about anything, even if you've done nothing wrong?

user47 · 26/08/2024 12:27

@timenowplease yes, he's obviously a violent man used to attacking women, but they chose to do nothing.

I'm watching the girls video statement now and not only were the police incompetent, they lied to her about pressing charges and then lied about doing that.

Timeturnerplease · 26/08/2024 12:41

This general superiority over women that seems to be endemic in some (note I said some, not all) police officers is very worrying. Is it part of police culture in some forces?

Years ago I taught a child whose father was an ex-army turned armed response police officer. Every time I had to speak to this man he gave me the chills re the way he dismissed all women and girls. His son and wife came in one morning late to school dishevelled and sobbing, but wouldn’t tell us anything about what had happened. A female police officer with a child in the same class pulled us aside later that day to suggest that we ‘watch out’ if we were planning to report anything to the police about that family. She said that all his colleagues are ‘the same’ and that the force is a ‘boy’s club’.

I’d love to hope that this kind of attitude is the absolute minority amongst police officers, but news stories like in the OP do make you wonder.
