Really weird stuff people do that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Someone I know puts hotel TV remotes in plastic bags before using them, because she once heard a standup comedian talking about men wanking on them while watching porn.

WTAF?

What weird things do people you know do that make absolutely no sense at all? Anything as odd as that?

I think I’m more surprised not by people putting or not putting milk in scrambled eggs but by people being wildly shocked that anyone does it differently! All this “I’ve never, ever in my life heard of anyone adding milk!!” Really?? Where have you been?

I have never heard of it or seen it either.

the comment about buying ready made salads, they work out much more expensive than buying the component parts and, once cut and mixed together, have a shelf life of no more than 1-2 days whereas, buying a lettuce, cucumber, tub of tomatoes, bunch of spring onions and bag of radishes, they last well over a week (although not in my house as I eat salad every day so go through loads).

I'm on my own whilst DS is at Uni and find the ready made salad is better value now. I can get a tub of mixed lettuce with grated stuff and edame beans for the same price as just a lettuce. It all gets eaten. It adds up buying the extras found in salad and then unless I eat them for every meal ; cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, beetroot, peppers etc, they go soft or spoil. Different when others are home and I can make meals to use up

I always thought washing new clothes before wearing them was overkill. Others may have tried them on, but I just can't imagine anything bad happening to you because you didn't wash new clothes before wearing them...

I never wash hew clothes, because I like that newness feeling. It’s never the same after they’ve been washed.

However, apparently new clothes have certain chemicals in them to give them that crisp, new feel and are allergic to it, or prefer to wash them out.

I do it because the finish (called size) some on new clothes makes me sneeze.

That's more to remove surface chemical residues such as formaldehyde which are on new fabrics. Some of them positively reek of it. Plus it softens them. New fabric is often quite stiff.

I no longer think in terms of a weekly shop. I quite often get 2/3 deliveries a week as well as doing small top up shops to get favourite items that aren't stocked by Ocado. I pay for a yearly subscription that entitles me to one delivery a day. As someone upthread said there is a minimum order of £40 so if my groceries come to less than that I top the order with a couple of bottles of wine or stock up on pet food.

My DH has several strange habits but the one that drives me mad is opening the post and then refolding every letter and replacing it in the envelope.
