Really weird stuff people do that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Someone I know puts hotel TV remotes in plastic bags before using them, because she once heard a standup comedian talking about men wanking on them while watching porn.

WTAF?

What weird things do people you know do that make absolutely no sense at all? Anything as odd as that?

Me too. I have read that it's safer to do this, especially overnight.

Didn't there used to be a PSI advert telling you to switch everything off?

A couple danced around and sang about their midnight routine as they switched everything off.

I may have imagined it 😁

I’m not getting the outside clothes on bed either. I’ve just been out wearing jeans. Then sat on my sofa first, then on my bed? Is that not allowed?

Apparently you'll get bedbugs!!??

I have sat on all sorts of things in my day clothes (including the horse) and then sat on the bed. I have yet to have so much as a case of nits (I've also never had ringworm, which ran rampant among some of my compatriots).

As a person who frequently washes their hands (truth to be told, probably too often) I am of the opinion that many people don't wash their hands often enough. It never ceases to disgust amaze me the number of people who don't wash their hands after using the toilet (even after a number 2) or who come in from a shopping trip/day out etc and start handling food before washing their hands. I think that these are the same people that find it necessary to put the hotel room's TV remote control in a bag or to disinfect it before using it, because they have no intention of washing their hands any time soon. They are probably the same people who lay on their bed with their shoes on.

I was in Morrisons yesterday and popped to the loo.

There was a lady there with a boy of about 7, she stood behind him but with the cubicle door open as he went to the toilet, which seemed odd to start with.

When he was finished they both walked straight out without any attempt at hand washing.

It's like people learned nothing about hand hygiene during covid.

No there was. It used to be a thing.

For everyone obsessing about germs - a sentence that has entered family legend is 'DD1, please stop licking that chicken!'

My kids had pets hens and DD1 had a particular favourite. She used to lick its head. She is still with us, as are all the others, despite having been brought up, quite frankly, in utter squalor.

We used to say 'We Do Not Lick the Tube'.

Where are you going outside where you think you’re picking up bedbugs on your clothes? 🤷‍♀️ what about your car seats, can you sit on them?

Edited

Bus seats!

I saw similar in a toilet in Sainsbury's. Came out of cubicle to witness the woman next to me, flush the toilet and head straight out of the door. She had on a Sainsbury's staff uniform and went back to her post - behind the deli counter. Not only disgustingly unhygenic but it amazed me that she simply had no shame, to do this infront of me, a customer!

There could be bed bugs on your jeans. Best to change into home clothes when u come home.

Is this a wind up? I feel sick. How do you know she worked at the deli?

We always had hot milk in Weetabix when I was a child. My DH thought that was batshit!

We used to have it dry with butter and honey on. I think that's a bit odd, looking back .

But what about if you have to go out again but might need to sit on the bed in the interim? Are you going to change clothes on and off, like the hokey cokey all evening?

My next door neighbour dries his garage door with a t towel after it rains. He uses an extending brush to clean his state dish weekly. And has a special nailbrush he uses to clean bird muck off his drive.
He is seriously weird.
We recently caught him pushing dirty tissues into one of our low growing conifers ( we have open plan front gardens.
We recently did a big tidy up and found loads of tissues. The Ring doorbell gave him away. I had assumed that the regular tissues we were finding in the front garden were down to the wind, but no it was the weirdo next door placing them carefully in our garden after using them to clean bird shit off his car.
I have confronted him about it but he claims I’m being unneighbourly by collecting the tissues up and leaving them on his drive.

I’ve just looked up photos of bed bug bites. I’m fairly certain I’ve never succumbed so I think the risk is minuscule, and certainly not worth worrying about.

i’ve just been out walking the dog, came in and ate my tea as dh had cooked it, so sat on the dining room chairs and now the sofa, still wearing my walking trousers. In all honesty, it he has never, ever occurred to be that I could be at risk from bed bugs (and I’m still not worried now).

beetr00 · 24/08/2024 18:58

@MintyNew some info.

Some consumers may wash or rinse their raw meat or poultry because it’s a habit or because a family member they trust has always washed their meat. USDA research has found that washing or rinsing meat or poultry increases the risk for cross-contamination in the kitchen, which can cause foodborne illness.

I wish it were.

You get staff in cafes who stroke dogs and then go back behind the counter and start handling food and don't bother to wash their hands. My mum said she once said something to a staff member when she did it and she thought my mum was mad to care. I think my mum walked out without ordering.
