Really weird stuff people do that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Someone I know puts hotel TV remotes in plastic bags before using them, because she once heard a standup comedian talking about men wanking on them while watching porn.

WTAF?

What weird things do people you know do that make absolutely no sense at all? Anything as odd as that?

OMG!! I do the exact same thing for that exact reason lol 😂 and if my husband or dd gets a bit ratty with her I tell them they will be first when it comes to life!! I also apologise for their rudeness…. I’m hoping that it remembers and she takes it easy on me 😅 my husband is sleeping but I can’t wait to show him this lol

I don’t have Alexa, but do thank Siri.

No, that is disgusting. There was a TV programme a while back where they tested make-up brushes and toothbrushes in bathrooms. They all had poo particles in them because the flush projects the poo and urine up to six feet! Happy with poo in your toothbrush? Put the seat down!

The seat? Assuming you both mean the lid?

I always say please and thank you to Alexa!

When the robots rise, she'll remember I was always polite 😉

Not just me then!

You dirty blighter Primative. The remote control in hotels is well known to be filthy. Give it a wipe with an antibacterial wipe before you use it always. You being unconcerned about germs is a bit weird.

Nope... still don't care.

My aunt covers her TV every night before she goes to bed with a large lace cloth.
Not even to hide the TV presumably as it's visible in the daytime. Just at night. Like it's a caged parrot or something.

Nanana1 · 18/08/2024 22:58

😆😆

Tartantotty · 18/08/2024 22:58

I loathe public toilets, particularly in planes and trains. I refrain from drinking if I think I may have to use one.

I've heard it all now. You have a problem.

Incidentally I only know one person who has caught MRSA - my DF. Where did he catch it from you ask - a hospital.

Indeed I do. I'm immunocompromised. Hence my precautions.
Why you have a problem with that I do not understand. I never suggested everyone should do it. It's just what I do. The thread is about seemingly weird things people do, is it not?

Your personal experience is not the sum total of all experience on the planet. But yes, hospitals and care homes absolutely are the worst places for picking up MRSA, among other things. So I'm not surprised at all.

Nanana1 · 18/08/2024 22:59

How long would you go without a drink?

Thepeopleversuswork · 18/08/2024 22:59

One of the weirdest things I have ever come across on here is this crazy business of people insisting that everyone takes off “outdoor clothes” before sitting on a bed.

I thought this was a windup until I realised so many people do it. Absolutely crackers.

That's almost certainly worse for your health than using a slightly iffy toilet.

Oh yes, I’d never heard of it before either.

My next door neighbour pegs her washing out a couple of items at a time, walks back down the garden, goes back in collects more, pegs that out, goes bk in gets 2 more items over and over ( no disabilities ect ), same with getting it in. Better than the other side whose washing has been hanging out for almost a month.

My other half does this when he is emptying the dishwasher. Picks one cup up, walks it to the cupboard, goes back for another, walks it to the cupboard.

It never occurs to him that it’s inefficient and quite annoying to watch because he’s autistic.

Like the OP , I couldn't care less. And I don't think it's the OP that's weird.

What??? Why???

XChrome · 18/08/2024 23:14

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 18/08/2024 23:07

What??? Why???

If I had to guess, it might be due to pollen allergies in the household. The pollen gets on the clothes and it gets spread around the house.
I do have allergies but I can't be arsed to bother throwing everything I've worn outside in the wash. I use a lint brush if the pollen counts are particularly high. If, however, somebody else in my household had severe allergies I'd make the effort.

Yellowbananasarebetterthangreen · 18/08/2024 23:19

People who scrape the remains of their dinner plate into the loo and then flush it!
Super weird.

Marine30 · 18/08/2024 23:20

I have to finish my book each night on an even number, have the volume on the car radio on an even number and have the light switches facing down where there are two-way systems.
Surely someone else has a numbers thing 🤞😲😂😵‍💫?

Is that OCD my sweet? My brother has similar repetitive traits x

Yeah it sure is 🥰

Comtesse · 18/08/2024 23:27

XChrome · 18/08/2024 22:04

Of course, but it's irrelevant to the wider issue. These germs can infect anyone. There is no way of predicting who it will be. You've been lucky, as have lots of people. Others haven't. Isn't it always a good thing to be informed?

Nope - it’s paranoia. There are germs everywhere - public toilets, buses, trains, offices, supermarkets, everywhere. There are even billions of them inside me. I get there is a theoretical risk but honestly it’s a waste of brain waves to even contemplate this sort of thing.

Marine30 · 18/08/2024 23:30

Differentstarts · 18/08/2024 23:21

I think so, but I manage them and I’m not nervy or anxious or anything.
I thought maybe I’d get a couple of ‘me too’s’
anyone…??!!

No they don't

Maybe you don't but the 17 "thanks" on my reply and the many further posts from others either admitting they do the same thing or know people who do would disagree with you.

Have you read the thread at all or did you just read the first reply and decided to disagree with it?

Screamingabdabz · 18/08/2024 23:38

Ironing pants is another weird one.

And not rinsing washing up - leaving mounds of detergent foam on plates is baffling to me.

Going to events and just filming them in your phone. Or worse, just taking selfies and missing the event because you’re editing the selfies!!
