Natalieannamay · 18/08/2024 13:21

Hi
on Fri afternoon I was sleeping with my 2 year old daughter when i felt the most awful burning pain in my chest , this went up to the right side of my neck and jaw. It was awful. I was dizzy and shaking, this all only lasted around 10 minutes. Since then iv been having palpitations and feeling really uneasy , iv also had a little upset tummy .
my partner is telling me i need to go get checked out. Im just nervous it’s something bad and they will keep me in, my daughter will only settle with me.

Those are not heart attack symptoms.

Those are not heart attack symptoms.

Edited

They all can absolutely be symptoms of a heart attack.

In fact, many people on this thread who have had heart attacks, including myself, have had some or all of those symptom's.

Iv spoken with 111.
they have said as I’m not currently in pain they are getting a doctor to call me in the next hour. No idea what he will do or say, if not I’m calling my doctors first thing and asking for a ecg or blood tests.
they told me if the pain comes back to call 999 straight away.

Hopefully tell you those aren’t heart attack symptoms.

So much so that 111 didn’t even advise going to a hospital.

Hope everything is ok OP

Dahliasarebeautiful · 18/08/2024 17:42

You should definitely get it checked out, but I thought I was having a heart attack and went to a&e and it was gastro reflux. I felt like a complete tit, but so glad I got it checked. I'm on omeprazole now and haven't had it again. Reflux can mimic the symptoms of a heart attack though. I also have a hiatus hernia which I found out after an endoscopy which doesn't help either. Hope you're feeling better soon and it's nothing serious

PurpleFruit1 · 18/08/2024 17:45

Has the doctor called back yet? Ideally you need an ECG to rule anything out.

gotohellforheavenssake · 18/08/2024 17:49

@Otherstories2002 probably because she experienced the symptoms on Friday, if she had rang at the time they would have 100% sent her to hospital, probably in an ambulance. Whether a heart attack or not, the symptoms could point to something cardiac and should be checked out, even if not life threatening, which is likely what a doctor will say when she speaks to them.

ukgot2pot · 18/08/2024 17:52

The doctor will tell you what everyone else is telling you. Go to A&E.

I had a massive heart attack 8 weeks ago. I had shrugged of pains as bad indigestion on and off for a week or more but I had no other symptoms at all. On the day I had taken more gaviscon as I got into the car to drive 12 minutes between here and a friends house (I was the passenger thank goodness) by the time I got there I knew I was in serious trouble and my friend called 999.

I almost didn't make it to the hospital, reading the paramedics report was extremely scary.

Any chest pain should be checked asap simply because you cannot rule out heart problems. If I had stayed home taking gaviscon I wouldn't be here telling you about it now.

Don't ever feel stupid for going to hospital with chest pain.

anonymous98 · 18/08/2024 18:05

Hope you are okay OP. I would recommend A&E where they will be able to rule out a heart attack. At the very least you'll get peace of mind.

I had myocarditis and the initial symptoms were a burning like heartburn and palpitations. Please get it checked. Insist on a troponin test, results in an hour and will tell if any damage.

Left it too late to edit:

Wanted to add that the pain came and went, as well as the ache in the sides of the neck and arm tingling.

Please get checked asap OP.

tedgran · 18/08/2024 18:05

I had a heart attack which presented as incredibly crushing chest pain, I thought I was having an asthma attack. Went to Gp next day, nurse did ecg, twice as she couldn't believe result. GP called blue light ambulance. Heart attacks present differently in women.

They have called me I’m now on my way to the hospital by ambulance for a ecg and blood tests.

Signs and symptoms of heart attacks in women are different to men and can often be quite vague symptoms. Never ever risk it when it's your heart ots not worth it. Don't be hanging around thinking it's like the tv and your gonna grab your chest and fall to the ground because it's highly unlikely to present like that. 99% of the time it will be fine as multiple physical and mh issues present like that but I wouldn't be hanging about to see if I was the 1 %

I reported this post to MN ages ago. Why is this dangerous advice still here?

Deadbeatex · 18/08/2024 18:11

I'm so relieved you are going to get checked out OP and I hope it turns out to be nothing sinister. Please do update once you know x

Mumsnet have commented but I do agree with you mumsnet should ban threads asking for medical advice as it is so dangerous

LazyDaisy22 · 18/08/2024 18:13

Good luck OP, hope all goes well for you. You’re doing the right thing.
