Hi
on Fri afternoon I was sleeping with my 2 year old daughter when i felt the most awful burning pain in my chest , this went up to the right side of my neck and jaw. It was awful. I was dizzy and shaking, this all only lasted around 10 minutes. Since then iv been having palpitations and feeling really uneasy , iv also had a little upset tummy .
my partner is telling me i need to go get checked out. Im just nervous it’s something bad and they will keep me in, my daughter will only settle with me.

Take care of yourself OP because your daughter needs you! I'm on statins at the moment because of my lovely children.

BeyondMyWits · 18/08/2024 15:59

Please don't drive. My aunt did and had another attack at the wheel mowing down 3 pedestrians.

I had a heart attack at 53, central chest pain, left collar bone pain and right side jaw, went a bit clammy... It was whilst brushing my teeth, I then felt a sense of doom before I had even finished and went to hospital. Teeny artery affected, no room to stent, so am managed by medication . If I felt the same "effects" again I'd get someone to drive me straight there.
Don't risk your life with inaction.

Both virus and severe heart burn has presented like this for me but I would defo check it out

Your heart is on your left side and heart attack symptoms present as the weight of an elephant sitting on your chest so much more likely to be gastric but best get checked in case it's gallbladder

Heavens - don't peddle this misinformation. Your heart is virtually in the centre of your chest - why do you think cardiac massage is performed on your breast bone? - and forget the weight of an elephant bollocks. I am recovering from a heart attack right now - no elephants here. Central chest pain radiating into my back and throat. But no tightness or pressure. And women sometimes present in a very different way. You can have a heart attack virtually symptom-free.

No they don't in every case. My DP's (male) symptoms were trouble breathing and just extreme tiredness. Every woman in cardiac rehab with him didn't have chest pain. One man had a widow maker and he had no symptoms, he just went grey and collapsed. Symptoms can include upset stomach and vomiting. But your right that it's difficult to tell if it's cardiac or gastric.

Mischance · 18/08/2024 16:17

Even the troponin test can be misleading - mine was 15, but because that was higher than the test a couple of hours earlier they admitted me - my stenosed artery was very severe (94%). I am glad they played safe.

stichguru · 18/08/2024 16:21

Glad you have got through to 111 and are being seen. If your symptoms get worse call an ambulance. I'm sorry you are going through so much. Is there anyone who could come and fetch your child while you are waiting for 111 to ring back? Not being funny, but if you were having a heart attack, you would be needing to go to hospital and you couldn't look after your kid. You'd need another plan, or your husband would have to step up, being less ill than you. I really hope it just rights its self. Best of luck.

my partner is telling me i need to go get checked out. Im just nervous it’s something bad and they will keep me in, my daughter will only settle with me.

I had the same thing (except mine was on the left side). Waves of shivers, pressure mid-chest, jitters, dizziness. Also had a funny stomach and the feeligns of a panic attack (though I wasn't stressed). We called 111 and they sent an ambulance came to my house. Two ECGs were normal, but they told me to go to A&E for blood work, as there's an enzyme that indicates heart attack episodes.

I'm fine - blood work showed nothing at all wrong with my heart. They think I have a low-grade chest infection so treated me accordingly. And.or a bad case of acid reflux (which I'm prone to).

Once I got home (after 5 hours), I felt so stupid wasting everyone's time, but the risk of leaving it when it was something real was definitely worth the wasting of time. Get yourself checked out (though I'm late to the chat).

Natalieannamay · 18/08/2024 15:26

Iv spoken with 111.
they have said as I’m not currently in pain they are getting a doctor to call me in the next hour. No idea what he will do or say, if not I’m calling my doctors first thing and asking for a ecg or blood tests.
they told me if the pain comes back to call 999 straight away.

Under some circumstances they will order a troponin blood test outside of A&E. The norm is to go to A&E. ECGs have limited use. You might have to plan a trip up there this coming week. I've found going at 10am is late enough that those there overnight are seen to and the queue hasn't built up too much.

Ihearyounow · 18/08/2024 16:28

I can guarantee you that the 111 doctor will say to go to a and e. I have never found 111 to do anything useful.

Impending sense of doom is actually considered a medical symptom

its incredible how it works.

just a useless bit of info for you

3luckystars · 18/08/2024 16:39

I hope you will be ok.

Ifyoumust222 · 18/08/2024 16:42

Hello… I’ve not read all the posts sorry, felt I needed to urge STRONGLY to go to AnE…. If it’s your heart you need urgent help. It may of course not be your heart, but absolutely no way of knowing without professional help. They are symptomatic of a heart attack in women, but also many other things too. Hopefully you are on your way. All the best

Wabberjockey · 18/08/2024 16:47

I get so annoyed by posts like this. My family member collapsed in cardiac arrest in their thirties because they ignored cardiac symptoms.

Ozanj · 18/08/2024 16:48

I had similar symptoms that turned out to be a trapped nerve caused by carrying my son. But A&E ruled it out

doubleshift · 18/08/2024 16:49

I hate this kind of OP. Dramatic tale of serious sounding symptoms with bold title to match. 100% of well meaning responses say act on it and OP responds with nope, can't possibly deal with it now and wait for treatment will be too long.
Why bother posting 🤷‍♀️

Welshmonster · 18/08/2024 16:49

Don’t ignore these symptoms by wasting hours asking for advice on here. Women heart attack can present differently to men.
your daughter could become an orphan
don’t martyr yourself.

Getonwitit · 18/08/2024 16:50

Before my heart attack, i had no symptoms on the lead up. As it was happening all of the pain was in my neck jaw and face i didn't even look ill.. Do not mess about do not second guess. It is 999 there and then or you won't make it. Take 300mg of asprin and get on the phone or you risk dying. Not being dramatic it is just the reality of a heart attack.

Dangerous post. Heart attack in women presents way different to heavy left crushing pain on left side. My pain was all above my shoulders.

And lots of inappropriate unsafe posts about random symptoms and diagnoses that have NOTHING to do with what the OP may be experiencing.

FacingTheWall · 18/08/2024 14:39

Yes they do make you wait.

That's what I thought.

I waited all of about 180 seconds for two nurses and one doctor to appear at the door calling my name, so it was just about long enough for one of them to look at their screen and read the entry.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 18/08/2024 17:05

Will you child have to go into care if you die ?
'my partner has cancer and not in a fit state to watch my daughter all those hours especially at the moment while receiving treatment. '

Caththegreat · 18/08/2024 17:13

Amd if you didnt have dd you wouldn't care about your health?

Makes you wonder what would actually have to happen to get someone to ring 999 or 111 or go to A&E without having to post on MN first.

999 and 111 is there for just this type of situation

Lampan · 18/08/2024 17:20

I don’t usually comment on threads like this but I was watching an old episode of Ambulance on iPlayer last night and a woman who was having a heart attack described the sensation of ‘burning’.

Why have you put such a dramatic thread title only to minimise all the advice people are giving you? If you think it’s heart attack symptoms you need to be in hospital.
