Mr Blippi Creepy Energy Confirmed With Horrible Past Career

Members of my family expressed unease with Mr Blippi a grown man in tight trousers and braces talking in a baby voice and walking children through playgrounds and spaces, talking to camera. I also felt this instinctively, something was off about it and tried to redirect my kid's attention away but the kid is hooked. Heavily branded (toys, games, you name it) it turns out he has a degree in marketing and used to put the vilest videos online as a character called Steezy Grossman, involving naked men and his own feces. He's worked hard to try and hide this part of his past, but what gets me the most is that his background is in marketing and search engine optimisation, not in education. He has no idea how to behave around kids and even before I knew a single thing about him, his show seems off to me. Look at how many times he spells out his name to children to memorise, or tells them to say his name over and over again as they wash their hands. He's feeding off our kids, admittedly all entertainment is doing that to some extent, but in this case, there's little else to it. It's parasitic and unwholesome.

We don't do YouTube anymore and stick to Peppa and Peter Rabbit

Those are winners!! And Paddington bear, the intro is the best 😂 my 6 month old only watches that part.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/08/2024 12:25

The Halloween song is very catchy though. Its worth a search on YT

Gliblet · 14/08/2024 12:28

I can remember Blippi being painful to watch/listen to, but so was Bing. Night Garden had its moments too (tiddles anyone? And Upsy Daisy scuttling around the woods with her skirt lifted...)

Steer them heavily towards Hey Duggee and hope for the best.

TheSkyRaisin · 14/08/2024 12:33

Yeah, he has an insincere, dead-behind-the-eyes quality to him. I wouldn't be surprised if he's never even met a child either that or he has an unhealthy interest and he just thought he could make lots of money. And he was right. When I heard about his earlier stunts I was only surprised and relieved it wasn't something worse, tbh.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 14/08/2024 12:34

Almost all small children programs are garbage. It doesn't bother me that as an adult, with other consenting adults, he made legal videos for adults.

Wish Bluey was around when ds1 was that age, although I got to watch with ds2.

I think everyone already knows this already? I've seen multiple threads over the years. Yes he is a bit odd, definitely not a natural with children but the same applies to Mr Tumble. There's a fake Blippi now, who's even less entertaining. I don't think some gross-out humour early on in his career suggests anything more than him being a bit desperate. He's doubtless not squeaky-clean in real life, but I'm sure if there was anything worse it would have been found by now.

Can't stand Peppa Pig myself, that was banned in our house. She's so rude.

Yep.

Plus he talks in my husbands sarcastic voice so not great for me!

You’re acting like you’re breaking some earth shattering news. Life tip: you’re not always the first person to hear of stuff.

Cas112 · 14/08/2024 12:40

Just dont watch him then....

This is like T Rex over again

Yes🤣🤣🤣

NotSayingImBatman · 14/08/2024 12:40

Are you new to the internet? This has been common knowledge since about 7 minutes after Blippi took off.

Greenbananasoup · 14/08/2024 12:41

I don’t mind him 🤷‍♀️ and I’ve seen the video, which was just so ridiculous it actually made me laugh. He’s no going to shite on your kids, relax

icebearforpresident · 14/08/2024 12:41

This came out donkeys years ago! My kids are too old for Blippi now but from what I have seen I think the original Blippi/Steezey stepped aside after it was discovered and someone else is playing the character now.

Boopbeepbeepboop · 14/08/2024 12:43

I thought the poo thing with blippi was well known.
He's annoying as anything but any worse than cocomelon or similar? Nobody needs to be an eductor to be an entertainer though. If you don't like him, do what we do, don't watch.

BloodyHellBob · 14/08/2024 12:44

I didn't mind the original Blippi but Mr Tumble definitely gave me the skin crawls, he gives off a vibe (to me) that suggests he doesn't really like kids.

That's a lot of words to say a) this fella made stupid videos for an adult genre of comedy that I don't particularly like either when he was younger and b) you don't think men should be involved in children's entertainment.

My kids don't watch blippi, thankfully, but if yours do and you don't like it, spend less time rambling on here and more time parenting them.

Brainstorm23 · 14/08/2024 12:50

Not related to Blippi but if anyone is looking for a new show for their kids the Storybots franchise on Netflix is awesome. I have a 6 year old daughter who loves it and has learned all sorts of weird and wonderful things from it.

Well … not yet

Tiredalwaystired · 14/08/2024 13:01

Big Cook Little Cook ad captain DJ from CBeebies all did adult comedy as well as kids tv.

Just not at the same time.

Most tv characters are performers first and foremost.

MrsSunshine2b · 14/08/2024 13:02

I banned it the first time I saw it, the whole set up just gave me the heebie jeebies.

EatTheGnome · 14/08/2024 13:03

You know as a parent you can just say no and own the decision. We make loads of unpopular decisions and our kid still loves us.

paristotokyo · 14/08/2024 13:04

I DESPISE his videos, like it actually makes me want to throw something. My son used to like them as he was exposed to them at my mums house which I promptly banned. I tried to block all his content off the YouTube kids app but they kept appearing in different ways. I don't allow YouTube at all now
