What temperature is your house right now?

The back part of my new house is really good at keeping cool - due to hard floors and aspect I guess.

I’m in Berks, supposedly 29c outside.

House is showing 23.5c. Very grateful as I have young kids and a dog.

Just curious.

Our last house was a new build and unbearable, would often only be a degree below outside temps.

It was 15C earlier on so I popped the central heating on for an hour as I was cold. So it is now nice and cosy.

East Scotland.

Kneeslikethese · 12/08/2024 14:13

22.5. I'm in the front room (north facing) it's very pleasant

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2024 14:14

We can't have most windows open at night because of traffic noise. It doesn't cool it down anyway. The heat is in the walls. My town nearly always gets listed by the BBC as the warmest at night.

JudgeBurrito · 12/08/2024 14:15

It's not warm here today but yesterday was 23 outside, between 19 and 22 in the house. New build. I was concerned about warm days because you hear so much about them being awful for heat retention, but we've not had a problem. We just keep the blinds closed when the sun is shining in, and air the house overnight when it's cooler outside.

Bobbotgegrinch · 12/08/2024 14:17

About 25 right now.

It'll be lovely this evening though as we've got a ruddy great hill right behind us and on hot days the cool air rolls down it. We open the windows and patio doors and get a lovely stiff breeze pushing all the warm air out.

We moved in three years ago and not once have we had one of those horrible hot sticky nights where noone gets any sleep.

Coastalcreeksider · 12/08/2024 14:18

25.5. South coast.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/08/2024 14:20

26° - London. Not sure what it is outdoors but very warm.

Crunchymum · 12/08/2024 14:20

27.5 (according to the Gro egg)

32c outside.

Towerofsong · 12/08/2024 14:22

29.5c in my home.office, south facing with two windows.

Was the.same last weekend when it was hot.

fliptopbin · 12/08/2024 14:24

19 degrees inside, 23 degrees outside. I am in N Yorkshire.

garlictwist · 12/08/2024 14:26

Thermostat is in kitchen and it says 21. It's not that hot outside where I am though.

Fluffyc1ouds · 12/08/2024 14:27

24 degrees but it's quite cool outside today.

We have quite big variations with the temperature in our house. On a hot day recently it was 28 degrees inside, and in the winter it drops to about 4 degrees (which I find difficult to imagine right now!).

Belladone · 12/08/2024 14:30

I’m near Ely here and it’s 32 in the shade outside, my bedroom at the front is 29 but my living room at the back is 22, I’m lucky enough to have air conditioning units in the house, I only run it in the bedrooms at night/evening as it costs a lot to run, but the living room is lovely and cool. Kitchen gets hot, south facing and no air con just a ceiling fan and blinds pulled down

ns87 · 12/08/2024 14:30

29 in upstairs bedrooms, miserable!

NannyGythaOgg · 12/08/2024 14:33

25 degrees.
South facing lounge with 3m bifolds open. Tends to be pretty much the same as outside when cloudy, like today. Generally a bit cooler inside when it's sunny out.

spikeandbuffy24 · 12/08/2024 14:35

Ground floor apartment
21c inside, always cooler than outside

RagzRebooted · 12/08/2024 14:36

Bedroom was 28 degrees an hour ago, living room is 28 now too. Big french windows facing the sun and not well insulated. Bedroom always hot because the radiator comes on with the hot water. Other side of the house isn't quite as bad until the sun moves, but nowhere that side to sit. It's horrible and I was already feeling ill (think I've had COVID) and don't do well in the heat. I vacuumed earlier and it nearly killed me.

We're moving 300 miles north in two weeks and I can't wait!

MrsLeonFarrell · 12/08/2024 14:36

32 outside, 23-25 inside depending on where in the house I am. I am little obsessed with curtains, windows and doors and managing the heat.

Mind you one advantage of the 40 heat we had is that 30 seems better than it used to.

Boopbeepbeepboop · 12/08/2024 14:38

21deg c. I've got the Aircon on, 31deg c outside. Our house is a new build and before we had aircon would be in the high 30s in this weather.

What temperature is your house right now?
NetflixAndKill · 12/08/2024 14:38

28° downstairs and 31° up 😯

KnittedCardi · 12/08/2024 14:39

30 outside, 25 inside. It feels delicious when you come in. South West Surrey. Always hottest here. We are just down the road from Wisley.

Deliberationdivinationdesperation · 12/08/2024 14:39

Thermostat is saying it's 25 degrees in the house, and my phone is telling me it's 22 degrees outside

Yep we're in a new build... I swear the house doesn't hold the heat this well in winter though as we're always shivering from late September

MonsteraMama · 12/08/2024 14:41

Downstairs is a breezy 22° thanks to the layout, floors and ceiling fans. My husband is currently lying on the kitchen floor because it's flag and cool as a cucumber.

Upstairs is approximately the temperature of the surface of the sun.

ShowOfHands · 12/08/2024 14:42

It's 23 degrees in the house and 31 outside.

Just a bog standard 1930s semi but thick walls and it stays relatively cool. If I'd left the curtains closed, it'd be nearer 20.

whirlyhead · 12/08/2024 14:42

It's 33 degrees in my coolest room.
