What temperature is your house right now?

The back part of my new house is really good at keeping cool - due to hard floors and aspect I guess.

I’m in Berks, supposedly 29c outside.

House is showing 23.5c. Very grateful as I have young kids and a dog.

Just curious.

Our last house was a new build and unbearable, would often only be a degree below outside temps.

Back of the house 23.7
Upstairs at the front which gets the sun all day 27.1

All curtains and windows currently shut. We have a blackout blind in the kitchen at the front which blocks the sun better than the curtains upstairs.

longdistanceclaraclara · 12/08/2024 13:30

Currently 39 in my office which is a loft conversion. Thankfully the rest of the house is cooler so I have decamped downstairs.

TwitchyJerk · 12/08/2024 13:30

22.8 in the bedroom with air-conditioning, and 25 in the lounge.

Windows open all night and shut, with blinds down in the morning. HATE it!

My kitchen/diner says it’s 32 degrees. It’s at the back of the house, south facing new build extension so insulated to hell. It’s actually unbearable.

Do you have your Windows open?

It's 24 in the hallway, it's 32 outside and I'm staying in the house.

Cobblersorchard · 12/08/2024 13:38

About 20 no hotter anyway, it’s a thatched cottage. We still use a normal duvet in summer, and butter always stays hard!

pepperaunt · 12/08/2024 13:39

Front of our flat south-facing so sweltering! I’m currently hanging out in my lovely friend’s air conditioned hotel room.

MagneticSquirrel · 12/08/2024 13:39

25.1C indoors. 31.9C outdoors and rising.

SukeyBenedict · 12/08/2024 13:39

It Is 38 degrees here today (expat) and inside I think the AC is on 26. Sometimes my working environment (inside no windows) is 30-32. Not nice.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 12/08/2024 13:40
  1. I feel fortunate as I have a cool flat but outside it is 28 today.
Droolylabradors · 12/08/2024 13:41

@DoIdriveaVauxhallZafira lovely in winter. We have flagstone floors with underfloor heating in the kitchen but I usually turn it off as it makes my feet hot. We have an everhot on all year around and it's lovely in winter and barely noticeable in summer.

We do sleep with all windows open upstairs in the summer. However none of the windows fit properly as all v old so lots of winter ventilation 😀

SocksAndTheCity · 12/08/2024 13:42

29 in the living room/kitchen/hallway, 26.5 in the bedroom at the back with the curtains shut. 32 outside, apparently.

I need to nip out but that will require getting dressed, so it can wait.

WoollyHair · 12/08/2024 13:43

NE Lincs, 29 outside and 28 in my office - we do have a breeze which is helpful but still warm.

It feels stuffy inside but one dog seems to be staying cool by splooting on the cool hard floor...the other one is outside laying on the lawn because he likes the heat (as long as he doesn't need to move). Bowls of cool fresh water everywhere!

Yes I slept under a duvet last night. Though it was the warmest night we have had in ages. We live rurally by a river so if there's any chilled air to be found, it's with us!

Wore my jumper walking the dog by the river at 5.30am!

Splooting

Marvellous word!

virgocatlover · 12/08/2024 13:44

29c inside, 30c outside

OhmygodDont · 12/08/2024 13:45

Just checked the garden house and it’s a cool 23 in comparison.

Xmasbaby11 · 12/08/2024 13:45

21.5 in Sheffield. It’s 26 outside. It’s a Victorian house that generally keeps cool, so lovely in the summer and hard to heat the rest of the year!

Killingoffmyflowersonebyone · 12/08/2024 13:54

Temperature outside: 28 (as of 12:00, according to the BBC).

Temperature inside right now 19 (but I have AC units throughout the house that I switched on this morning)

wickerpram · 12/08/2024 13:59

22 degrees - Northumberland. Old farmhouse.

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 12/08/2024 14:00

Alexa tells me it's 23.6° in my lounge. I've got the front and back doors open and the ceiling fan on.
Also in Berks, where it's apparently 31° outside.

HowardTJMoon · 12/08/2024 14:05

32° outside, 25° inside. It's a new build and I noticed last year that it's slow to heat up when the weather's hot but it takes ages to cool down as well. I had all the windows open first thing this morning but once it got hotter outside than inside I sealed it all up and closed the curtains on the south facing side.

Mumofyellows · 12/08/2024 14:09

It's 25.5 degrees in here but the back doors are open and there a bit of a breeze flowing through. Heading to Croatia on holiday tonight, it'll be hotter there but thank goodness our apartment has air con!

WeRateSquirrels · 12/08/2024 14:09

28 in my (home) office (south east). Lovely😊

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2024 14:11

30 in the lounge. Hotter than the sun upstairs. New build with lots of big windows and insulation taller than me.

Theoldcuriosityshop · 12/08/2024 14:11

29° indoors, hate it, it's pretty unbearable.
