TW - Upsetting information: XL Bully attack *edited by MNHQ

Another xl bully attack, this time it was in my home town last week.
An xl bully ran out of the house down the road and attacked the nearest dog it saw a little dauchshund ripping both its legs off, it took 4 men and two women to get the xl bully off the other dog. The other little dog is alive thanks to the bravery of other people there at the time , however it had to have both legs ( what was left of them ) amputated.
Its extremely sad. The owner of the dauchshund is an elderly lady who was out walking the little dog ans she is utterly traumatised as expected.
The dog has been seized and owners will be prosecuted we have been told.
The reason I'm posting this is because I feel prosecution and dog being seized hasnt really solved anything has it? What is being done to prevent what happened in the first place? Nothing?? These dogs are still attacking / killing animals and children/ adults
Am I being unreasonable in thinking enough isnt being done to get rid of these hurrendous dogs?????

They are absolutely vile dogs and I have serious concerns about anyone who chooses to own one, frankly.

They should all be euthanised. And I say that as a lifelong animal lover and dedicated dog owner.

It's happening all over. This was recently, and did make the news, possibly because they had footage:

TW: video.

That's horrendous! I couldn't watch for long, how disturbing!

Please change the title of this thread it’s extremely graphic and distressing.

Totally inappropriate. People need to have a choice to read something this distressing.

IMO, we need to really ram home the problem with bully breeds, so raising awareness will hopefully change the law so that they are fully banned sooner rather than later. Sure it's graphic, it happened, and it will continue to happen until a law is passed to properly ban them all.

I'm not a particular fan of xl bully's actually. I'm trying to see things fairly and not tar all dogs with the same brush.
Pitbulls get a bad rep too but I've known some lovely pitbulls.
I just think it needs run like gun control where responsible people with valid rationale and training get to keep them.

There is no rationale for keeping one of these as a pet.

They should be banned and the people who own them should face serious jail time.

THIS.
There is one not too far from me, and it's owners have begin leaving the bloody thing's muzzle off- and not on a lead either.
Completely irresponsible.

They never seem to be owned by responsible or sensible people.

If they were ALL aggressive, I expect a ban would have happened already. But the issue is SOME of them go the way of their genetics, and you can't tell which will flip. Therefore, we do need to ban them all.

Notgivingup54 · 11/08/2024 00:40

Horrific! Simply, horrific. The measures are not working, these dogs need to be taken off the streets but not sure how you do this? Really troubling for everyone and so sad for that little dog who is disabled for life now.

MatLeave · 11/08/2024 00:40

Blame the owners!! NO, they're bred to be killers and shouldn't be in homes and society. Time to eradicate and stop further breeding. Kids should be able to take their pet dogs for a walk without the fear of being attacked by an XL Bully. I might sound harsh but there are so many people defending them and these attacks are happening daily.

Has anyone heard the saying ' there are no bad dogs, just bad owners'?
Any dog can be dangerous if they are mishandled. It's just that some of the bigger ones are very strong and can cause a lot of damage. Plus I find it's usually the smaller dogs who have very bad attitudes.

Are you dense?

CoconutSky · 11/08/2024 00:42

I’m bloody sick to death of hearing about these dogs
Every single thing seems to set them off or cause them to attack. It’s about time they were culled.

None at all

Notgivingup54 · 11/08/2024 00:43

The difference is ... a smaller dog wouldn't be able to do as much damage.

oakleaffy · 11/08/2024 00:44

Citylightsarebright · 11/08/2024 00:02

Um... nice try ... no I wont ignore the fucking breed a moment , sick to the back teeth of comments like this! Ignore the breed? Ignore that this breed has lock jaw so strong and huge body weight and strength behind it as it is an xl bully that it took 4 men and 3 women to save the dachshund??? And you what want me to ignore the breed ? And do what? Pretend it was a spaniel or something? Get a grip now and stop making excuses for these vile creatures.
One of the women there is close to a friend of mine and she said it was the most horrific thing she has ever witnessed in her life.... that dog was not letting go and was shaking the dauchshund like a rag doll so no we will not pretend that this dog was another breed!!!! Jog on

Edited

This is where a Pitbull {From which XL's are bred} attacks a man- look and see what they do to try and get the dog off- it's terrifying.

@Citylightsarebright XLB Pits escaping from houses and yards is far too common.

abouttogetlynched · 11/08/2024 00:46

Don’t be snide, it’s the owners not the dog 😏 XL bullies are well known to be big softies when with the right owner innit

Ponkpinkpink15 · 11/08/2024 00:46

OonaStubbs · 10/08/2024 23:45

They should be banned and the people who own them should face serious jail time.

@OonaStubbs

Honestly, you want to jail people for legally owning a dog?

our prisons can't contain all the murderers, sex offenders etc that it needs to & you want to put more people in, people that legally own a dog?!?!

Heretotalk1207538 · 11/08/2024 00:46

I disagree the people breeding these dogs should have some sort of regulations put in place. Anyone can breed. Take a loom at the dog owners. Iv seen these dogs be gentle as anything. They are big dogs they need to be trained. If u cant handle the dog dont have it. Its down to the owner the breed is getting a bad name and its not the dogs. Look at the owners!

Yes, it's usually thick people with no critical thinking skills that trot it out at every opportunity while completely ignoring the facts.

CoconutSky · 11/08/2024 00:48

If it’s not the dog and only the owner then why do they need to be in a constant perfect environment or it snaps, if it’s the owners then why does this breed have a tendency to lose its fucking rag constantly and instead of just being abit growly it snaps out of nowhere and either maims or kills

Why anyone would want one of these vile things in their house having them on eggshells constantly is beyond me
But it is about time people took their head out of the sand. These dogs are absolutely bred bad

It IS the dogs.

They are bred to fight other dogs, and they attack children and adults too.

They are extremely unstable, and very few people are strong enough to manage the brutes. They are idiot magnets 🧲 as well..

silverjackal · 11/08/2024 00:51

Poor, poor dachshund. I'm glad it got help in time, the people who intervened are very brave

Ponkpinkpink15 · 11/08/2024 00:51

@Citylightsarebright that poor wee dash & owner 🥲 that's traumatic.

its going to take some time for them to die out. The ban isn't going to solve the issue out overnight banning is pointless anyway as they'll just create another mixed breed.

Notgivingup54 · 11/08/2024 00:51

@oakleaffy too true! You rarely hear of a smaller dogs getting free & attacking other dogs & people.

No, I'm actually quite intelligent and I don't need to resort to slinging insults to get my point across.
I try to evaluate, process and form an independent opinion, even if you don't agree with it. That's what this platform is about, or am I mistaken?
