Fuming right now.

Been on a night out with work, partner picked me up, he is a named driver on my car.

Had issues with insurence when I renewed. Noticed policy was inactive after paying yearly fees. Spoke to insurence who apologised, stated the policy will be activated and gave £100 as a gesture of good will, this was in may

Police just pulled us over. Breathalysed DH driving the car and stayed we had no insurence. Checked policy and it's come up again as inactive. Have been told we have 7 days to prove insurence or DH will get 6 points in his license, this will effect his job.

I'm mortified. Obviously I'll contact insurence on Monday, but what if they say we are not covered. I've attached a screenshot of email provided by insurence but I'm really panicking now. What do I do??

Car is now registered. Parter is now named driver. We have spoke to insurance and they have confirmed even prior to being a named driver as he is fully comprehensive he was able to drive mine third party, even though I'm a partner and cars are from the same household.

I've spoken to them and he is a named driver and even if he wasn't was insured to drove mine 3rd party.

No idea why he is not documented on the certificate, honestly this is awful

Apparently they have raised a ticket to add policy to MID and could take 5 - 10 working days. I said this isn't good enough as only have 7 days. What do I do now?

You say this is your stuff up, it is having consequences for me, and if you cant do it in 5 days then I will be claiming for a refund of my last 4 months of policy payments, please don’t make me speak to a lawyer about whether or not you’ve failed to provide the service you contracted to, as that is very clear.

I am going to look at taking legal action.

Sooooo, apparently the certificate and confirmation off the insurence isn't good enough. As its not on the MID then it's not insured. I'm livid.

Called the company and they just keep saying but your documents are in place.

This could result in 6 points for DH

This can’t possibly be correct.

I once sat in the back of a police car after breaking down on thd 42. The system flagged up at least a dozen uninsured cars as I sat there. The officer explained to me that they rarely act on the information without other factors because vast majority of the time it’s a glitch on the database or it’s a recetly insured vehicle that hasn’t made it onto the database yet.

you here to take it higher - it’s bullshit

Outandabout43 · 11/08/2024 12:10

I think it was because it was early hours they pulled us.

I've been driving around since March with it not on the database and never got pulled before.

I've been a drunk young person in a car being driven by a sober young person in the small hours, who got stopped by police. It's understandable why they might stop especially if it looks like it was uninsured. Actually (not applicable to OP) even with a sober driver, having a car full of drunks increases your chance of an accident.

Def complain to insurance co but glad it all got sorted.

What for?

ABirdsEyeView · 13/08/2024 10:09

Possibly because insurance company gave exposed OP to all kinds of stress because they took her money and failed to do their job properly?
