To think Elon has lost his mind?

I used to be a big supporter of his. I was absolutely obsessed with his work on SpaceX and neuralink. His Joe Rogan interviews are some of the most interesting conversations I've ever listened to. Since he bought twitter I feel like he's been radicalised. I honestly can't square the man he seemed to be while building this extraordinary career with who he had become.
I still agree with him on quite a few topics, but his outbursts on twitter this week to stoke the riots is just reprehensible. His comments seriously make me feel sick. I really hope he is held to account when the dust settles. Although I don't hold out much hope.

In the app so can't set up voting properly, but essentially
YABU - Elon Musk is of sound mind
YANBU- you're right, he's lost it

people are responsible for their own actions, just because someone says do x does not mean they should, otherwise eg imagine if more people took whats in the papers and acted on that etc besides people are saying elon should not say x, but then why are people not saying the same about different newspapers and main stream media as they hold more influence and can be used to shape public opinion and society's perspectives etc @JennyBeanR

CiaDinnerout · 08/08/2024 01:19

if we hold elon to account then the whole mainstream media should also be held to account

Yet you portray Elon Musk as the arbiter of Free Speech? Really, really?? He is absolutely not.

I never used those words, you did. He's certainly not censoring speech the way Meta and YouTube are, and he didn't take the bribe to do so from the EU.

As for The Guardian, I cancelled my sub years ago when they began peddling trans ideology (they get £ from the TQ÷ lot) and featured odious misogynists like Owen Jones. Some of their senior journalists have left for that reason too. It's why I call it a comic, and why I urge anyone who cares about women, children and the LGB community not to buy it.

Elon and X are not perfect but far better than many of the other platforms and mainstream media outlets.

Gorgonemilezola · 08/08/2024 07:29

Free speech is not hate speech. Something which Mr Musk doesn't seem to understand. Or rather he does understand, he just doesn't care.

keffie12 · 08/08/2024 08:07

Never been keen on him. The fact he was a Trump supporter and still is did it for me.

I'd forgotten about what he said about the rescue diver ot the Thai caves youngsters

Blarn · 08/08/2024 08:10

He's an arse. He seems like one of those people who feels very smug about their intelligence but has no common sense whatsoever.

If he is such a free speech man why did he temporarily block Yulia Navalnaya's account after she pledged to continue her late husband's fight against the regime?

Everybody has their own agenda so Elon Musk, he is not some sort of warrior saviour of ultimate free speech.

This was a tweet from his daughter. I think it says it all

To think Elon has lost his mind?

As Marina Hyde points out , one thing the English Civil War 2.0 lot have in common is they are not in England. Elon is presumably on Thunderbird 5. Yaxley - Lennon is in Cyprus. Laurence Fox is in Cork. Please don't let him have an Irish granny 😱, we have enough problems. Andrew Tate is in Transylvania? I suppose Farage is visiting London. But hoping to stay with his imaginary friend in Florida in early November. Great patriots all.

Araminta1003 · 08/08/2024 12:49

Does anyone know why Mr Musk appears to dislike Mr Starmer? It seems quite personal. Is it because of the non dom stuff or trans ideology? They are very different men in character, almost polar opposites. Starmer strikes me as a good loyal husband and father etc. who isn’t greedy. Yet he still got to the top.

Mandaxx25 · 08/08/2024 12:51

You really haven't figured out he's controlled op yet? There's no hope for some of you.

Farage is in Hong Kong.

He dislikes Starmer because Starmer doesn’t show Musk any deference , unlike that embarrassing display by Sunak at Bletchley Park. The sight of the PM of Britain acting like a subordinate fanboy towards Musk was disgraceful.

Musk probably hoped that a Sunak win would mean he could get the same tax breaks and subsidies in UK as he gets in the US, as well as a weakening in employment laws.

Farage is in Hong Kong.

The one place you’re most unlikely to see Farage is in his constituency surgery listening to locals issues.

This morning Musk quote tweeted a fake Telegraph article stating that Labour were considering detainment camps on the Falkland Islands for rioters.

The original tweet originated from Ashlea Simon, the coleader of far right party, Britain First.

Musk's tweet was seen by 2 million before he eventually took it down.

But no mention of the anti rascist demonstrations.
He's very selective with what he decides to amplify isnt he.

SidekickSylvia · 08/08/2024 14:40

But no mention of the anti racist demonstrations.

He has retweeted the video of Labour Councillor, Ricky Jones and it is now trending. Ricky Jones has been suspended. I think he posts or re-posts the type of information that he believes the main news channels will ignore.

It's the same reason most of the Right hate him - they think he's a poor politician and they can't understand why he keeps winning.

He has obvious weaknesses - he's not someone most people warm to, he's not a brilliant speaker, and his strengths are not ones the "culture-war Right" (for want of a better term) respect or even recognise. They would probably be less angry with Blair because they'd have had some "excuse" for being beaten by him.

I thought back in 2020 he was being underestimated and I still think that. If he wins a second term in 2029 they'll still be saying how useless he is.

I suspect this shows that he really does believe this stuff. It was so obviously stupid that someone just cynically exploiting the vulnerable for money wouldn't have touched it.

I always disliked him. He said some horrible things about the diver who helped rescue the Thai football team from the flooded cave.

This. I thought he was a dick over this; because the divers rubbished his idea of a submarine to rescue the cavers, he called the divers who went in paedophiles. I've been suspicious of him ever since.

Rhaenys · 08/08/2024 23:14

The way he treats his children is disgusting at the very least. I’m horrified by the alleged carry on regarding his youngest 3 children.

Indeed he will. I'm not sure what the British government can do about X though if people post under nom de plumes I can't see them releasing any information
