To think Elon has lost his mind?

I used to be a big supporter of his. I was absolutely obsessed with his work on SpaceX and neuralink. His Joe Rogan interviews are some of the most interesting conversations I've ever listened to. Since he bought twitter I feel like he's been radicalised. I honestly can't square the man he seemed to be while building this extraordinary career with who he had become.
I still agree with him on quite a few topics, but his outbursts on twitter this week to stoke the riots is just reprehensible. His comments seriously make me feel sick. I really hope he is held to account when the dust settles. Although I don't hold out much hope.

In the app so can't set up voting properly, but essentially
YABU - Elon Musk is of sound mind
YANBU- you're right, he's lost it

What’s sad about the whole situation is an horrific crime was committed on those poor children and the prime minister hasn’t addressed being hard on knife crime with maybe introducing stop and search instant prison sentences for carrying knifes. The person who committed murder on those poor children probably will get away with it I think his court case isn’t going to be till 2025! He needs life 100 years no getting out. Nobody is talking about this at all.
illegal immigration does need to be discussed and to stop but you can’t talk about these important issues because you are seen as far right or being racists. There is no true free speech anymore .

ExpatAl · 07/08/2024 20:45

As we’ve moved on to the murder of those three sweethearts. One of them is the spit of me when I was young. Unspeakably awful.
We don’t know about the murderer. The awful truth is, like USA school shooters, he probably won’t remember why he did it a year on. I feel for his family as much as I do the other families shattered in an instant,

Elon is a stereotypical [neurodivergent] man who hates things not going his way, hates when anybody disagrees with him and wants to control everything and everyone. Since he has the money, he is using it for his own benefit and buying Twitter must have been a thrill for him because he can post whatever he wants whenever, while enabling those who think like him to do so the same.

He's an arrogant serial baby daddy, a racist, misogynist, eugenist troll who enjoys the power he has.

ExpatAl · 07/08/2024 20:55

But I don’t believe the riots are about recent events although that was the catalyst. We’ve had lockdowns, unbelievable hardships, political scandals, police scandals, extremely toxic discourse about immigration. It’s been a long time coming.

YABU for ever thinking he was decent. What do you agree with him about?

He’s always been like this it’s just more visible now he’s even more prominent in the media

This!! He is absolutely reprehensible! Stoking division - he only bought Twitter to try and control and manipulate social media. He pushes a far right agenda and gives a platform to Russian bots/racists and Andrew Tate - yuck

The man who murdered these children was born in Cardiff. What has any of this to do with immigration? This horrific tragedy has been highjacked and exploited by the far right to further their cause. It dishonours these children and this sickening crime.

I agree with your latter point (though I seriously dislike X/twitter as a platform).

A true moderate may not agree with your opinion/stance, but will respect your right to have a differing opinion.

DadBodAlready · 07/08/2024 21:32

Its a means to an end. When he acquired twitter it hemorrhaged a lot of users.
His tweets or whatever they are now called, are meant to inflame and generate reaction. People then sign up and post comments / responses especially in the highly targeted 25-34 age demographic,
And its working. I personally know 11 people who re-registered and followed him solely because they got wound up by the publicity around some of his posts. He now has over 133m followers on twitter, and active twitter user counts are increasing again.

I don’t care where he was born it was horrific what he had done and being born in Wales doesn’t make it acceptable. My point was - nothing is being done on knife crime zero tolerance- stop and search to try and prevent it happening again.

You discussed the horrific murder of these children in the same post as you mention immigration. My point is that these murders have nothing to do with immigration as the murderer was born in Cardiff. I find it absolutely sickening that this tragedy is being exploited to push a political agenda. A political agenda which is inciting terrorism by calling for the burning of families being housed in hotels. Knife crime is unspeakably horrendous and I can agree that far more needs to be done to prevent it.

I never said the murders were to do with immigration. All I mention was you can’t discuss immigration as you are seen as being racist or far right. X is the only platform where you can openly discuss topics whether or not you like Elon Musk it’s not controlled by media or government. I should of put a space between both discussions sorry for confusion.

YABU as I'm all for free speech (and there are restrictions), which is fundamental to a functioning democracy.

Yet, we're seeing governments attempting to curtail this with hate crime laws here in Scotland to the extent that you can be prosecuted for saying something in the privacy of your own home (yes really) that the government disapprove of, such as 'humans can't change sex'. And Starmer will introduce this in England if you let him.

In Canada, there's the Orwellian online harms bill which authorises house arrest and electronic tagging for a person considered likely to commit a future crime.

You may not like the individual but Elon's done more to protect free speech than most, and I'm grateful to him for it.

I expect I'll get pushback, but I believe you have the right to express your opinion even if I don't agree with it.

Elon is definitely not about Free speech!!

Elon Musk has become the world’s biggest hypocrite on free speech | Elon Musk | The Guardian

The world needs people willing to stand up for freedom of expression – which makes Musk’s trajectory all the sadder

I've never heard any report that he has ever been violent to any woman, that's an extremely serious allegation. Please provide a source?

She is saying he expects love to involve people treating him badly. The full quote:

""He's attracted to chaotic evil," Grimes, the singer whose legal name is Claire Boucher, told Isaacson. "It's about his father and what he grew up with, and he's quick to fall back into being treated badly. He associates love with being mean or abusive.""

I've been following him and his companies pretty closely for many years now and have never encountered any accusation of him ever being violent to any woman ever. And looking at Google, nobody else seems to have either. Seems like you alone read this account that he was not even just violent to one woman, but had "a history of being violent to the women in his life" - which has now mysteriously disappeared, along with everybody else's memories of it.

As you have somehow managed to misinterpret the not-at-all ambiguous source you yourself sent (?!), I think your memory of 'what you read in the past' is very likely faulty. In actual fact, I think it is far more likely you've never read anything at all that suggested he has ever attacked any woman, and that you're throwing extremely unpleasant allegations at a man with no proof whatsoever because you don't like him. Bit of a silly thing to do, he is very fond of suing people...!

The man's a complete arsehole. There are thousands of things you can use to attack him, you don't need to resort to libellous and offensive accusations of domestic abuse.

Elon Musk and Grimes' relationship timeline, from how they met, to 3 babies, and their latest split

Here's a timeline of the relationship between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and singer Grimes, including a move to Texas and the birth of three babies.

Well there’s going to be rather a clear perceived link- his parents immigrated here shortly before he was born. We’ve (understandably) seen nothing of them so theories as to what ideology they exposed their British born son to will abound. He’s not an immigrant… but he was only in Southport because of immigration.

Him kicking off yesterday and threatening to sue advertisers for not advertising on X shows he’s bleeding out and becoming desperate. Big brands don’t want their ads next to Tommy Robinson content. They’ll put their money elsewhere.

He doesn’t know how to run a social media platform, has let his fanboys lead him into making terrible decisions, and now he’s trying to bully big brands into saving X.

He's an untrustworthy arrogant narcissist.
And his name is an anagram of Lone Skum. So what were his parents thinking, calling him Elon? WTF sort of name is that, when it took me 2 seconds to spot the anagram? 😂

Because that's not how you spell "Scum"?

(Although he is)
