Farage inciting hate and division - Hos much longer do we have to endure this hideous individual?

1000 replies

Safi7 · 05/08/2024 00:31

So Farage now has a video statement on Twitter claiming that the current rioting is “nothing in comparison to what is to come.”

Anyone else hearing reverberations of Enoch Powell’s ‘rivers of blood’ speech back in the 70s?

He is also, ‘just putting it out there’ that the police and authorities are ‘withholding the truth’ - ie. insinuating that the murderer in the Southport tragedy was actually acting on behalf of a wider terrorist network and this is being hushed.

If this isn’t inciting fear, paranoia, violence and division, I don’t know what is!

I notice he’s gone very quiet about his pathetic accusation that Channel 4 tried to set-up Reform by somehow planting an ‘actor’ to trundle around Clacton spouting racist filth.

No Nigel, you know full well who that campaigner was - and the other Reform campaigners in Clacton caught on camera with their hate speech. These are your people.

I cannot abide this man. The damage he had caused to the U.K. I have been abroad this last month and don’t want to come back. Years and years he’s been provoking hate. He has ruined the country with Brexit - but he always has someone else to blame. I don’t think I’ve ever despised a U.K. politician so much. How much longer do we have to tolerate this?

Conspiracy theory 'Deep State' bullshit.

The 70s weren't racially harmonious. I can remember 'No dogs, blacks or Irish' signs in B&Bs.

Have you got reading difficulties? I said the 90s!

I know the question wasn’t directed at me, I am not one of the rioters but have lived in (and moved out of) a community destroyed by immigration.

We need to prioritise integration into British (well actually, local) culture. We need to allow pride in Britain rather than constantly talking about negatives of history etc.

This needs to start from the moment someone enters Britain or is born here.

Schools should concentrate on British culture. We need to ensure everyone culture is firstly the local/national culture s as nd their primary loyalty lies to their local community and country in which the live regardless of birthplace, religion or race. We need to ensure everyone can speak English/the local native language. Many people, especially women cant integrate, because they don’t know the language, this leaves these women very vulnerable.

We shouldn’t be having initiatives aimed at certain ethnic groups. If we want to improve peoples lot, this should be open to all.

We need to understand why young white working class boys don’t achieve as well as other groups at school.

I think spreading out migrants is a good idea. I think the make up of schools should have to broadly reflect the demographics of the county in which there are situated rather than local catchments, this would help integration across the whole of society (and probably ease the housing crisis).

We need to stop shouting racist at the police every time they go near an ethnic group.

We need to limit immigration and prioritise people already living here. Too many people on benefits have been so disenfranchised from society that they don’t want to take part or lack the ability to do so.

We need a fairer society and for people to feel they live in a fair society. If I was a white man, getting food from a food bank, no prospect of employment and someone wax shouting white male privilege at me, whilst they see initiatives to help all other groups I too might get angry.

We need to prioritise integration into British (well actually, local) culture. We need to allow pride in Britain rather than constantly talking about negatives of history etc.
What negatives of history shouldn't have focus? And by British culture, what do you mean?

This needs to start from the moment someone enters Britain or is born here.

Personally, all the 'immigrants' where i live are very much very enmeshed in the local community. Community kitchens providing meals for the disadvantaged etc. I agree about the language, which is a service that is offered by their local communities. It's not an overnight thing either though. The vast vast majority speak the language,

We shouldn’t be having initiatives aimed at certain ethnic groups. If we want to improve peoples lot, this should be open to all.
Okay, this argument can easily be we shouldn't have anything for women specifically, it should be open to all?

We need to understand why young white working class boys don’t achieve as well as other groups at school.
Agreed, but a lot don't want to hear the answers.

I think spreading out migrants is a good idea. I think the make up of schools should have to broadly reflect the demographics of the county in which there are situated rather than local catchments, this would help integration across the whole of society (and probably ease the housing crisis).
It's quite common for people to build communities within a community. We have a local italian community where i live, should this not be allowed? They send all their kids to specific schools.

We need to stop shouting racist at the police every time they go near an ethnic group.
If the police were acting in a racist way, we should call it out. Much like if they were being sexist or homophobic.

We need to limit immigration and prioritise people already living here. Too many people on benefits have been so disenfranchised from society that they don’t want to take part or lack the ability to do so.
I don't see the correlation on this personally. It's not supposed to be a slice of pie, others getting a slice shouldn't remove your slice.

We need a fairer society and for people to feel they live in a fair society. If I was a white man, getting food from a food bank, no prospect of employment and someone wax shouting white male privilege at me, whilst they see initiatives to help all other groups I too might get angry.
But again, acknowledging there is a privilege to being a white male is a step our society as a whole needs to take. No-one is saying that all white men have it perfect, we know that's far from true. But it's also possible to note that you have it hard and admit others have it hard in other ways,

Not, of course, the person giving a Nazi salute.

Actually he is a symptom of the problem. What we need to do is tackle the underlying cause of why this man is doing that. Again, I would refer you back to pre Second World War Germany, where you will find lots of ordinary people giving “ Nazi Salutes”

Yes, how can any gov think that lying about controlling immigration since tony Blair opened the gates ie over 20 years, can all then pile on board blaming right wing extremists - no, most people I know do not want unlimited uncontrolled immigration - show me a country that does!
And Tony Blair's decision resulted in Brexit btw.
Put the blame where it belongs - at the feet of the Gov/s and stop blaming the rest of the population.

Yes. I said on a now deleted thread that I remember the NF gathering at the gates of my junior school (industrial Midlands) around 1970. We were actually racially harmonious kids, black, white, Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, all getting on fine.

The far Right want to destroy harmony and anyone who doesn't see that is either very foolish or highly disingenuous.

We are already a very tolerant and generous nation, which is why when things were smashed up - we saw the same number of kind people clearing it up and working together.

For every one person willing to throw a brick, there are twice that willing him to put it back down.

I am not giving up on those misguided kids and in some cases adults, whom have resorted to outright violence, because we can and should be addressing the issues, homelessness, poverty, addiction and feeling totally marginalised. In most cases it is down to very poor mental health.

I have every faith the country will come to its senses, if we are able to agree that we all want the same things at the end of the day. Security, peace, prosperity it should be available to everyone. Not just a few that live in expensive postcodes.

Edited

We don't all want the same things.

The rioters that were out in my city at the weekend were calling for things that I don't really want to repeat on MN because they are so incredibly offensive. They want certain sections of the population dead. I cannot find common ground with them.

I agree with you that the vast majority of people in this country are generous, decent and tolerant. That is why I say that we do not need to listen to this hate-filled mob, they are not representative of ordinary people in any way.

And yes, I agree that we should be addressing the issues of those who are poor and marginalised. I spend a good chunk of my life doing just that. But my efforts will be directed to support decent people who are struggling... not racist thugs that seek to make others' lives hell.

The rioters must be in no doubt that their actions will not give them a platform. Their angry rantings will not be heard. If they want to be heard, they will need to find a different way.

And that is bollocks about the 70s @AnonymousBleep . Think there may have been those signs in the 50s but wasn't around then (and doubt you were either). Going on about the deep state whatever that is isn't the intelligent rebuttal you think it is!

Again, you simply cannot compare pre second world war nazi salutes in a world if propaganda, limited access to information and obviously the full effects of Hitler’s actions to someone in the UK giving a Nazi salute in 20fucking24.
Your views are unbelievable.

Stop making excuses for someone who thinks its ok to support a regime that murdered millions of people in barbaric conditions.

People today know full well what the Nazi's did, no excuses for glorifying their actions.

The evidence before us from the past week, suggests rather strongly to me that it isn't asylum seekers who are failing to integrate.

Strange reply to PP’s absolutely valid points.
Some locals behaving like thugs doesn’t make integration of new arrivals any less important.

No idea. Probably because they are sheltered from all the problems, have private health security etc and don't give a fuck. Its not a hypothetical question they DID do that.

Deardeidree · 05/08/2024 14:32

We need to understand why young white working class boys don’t achieve as well as other groups at school.

Why don’t you examine their culture? What are they being taught at home? is it a lack of fathers?

well isn’t that what certain folk always say when Black or Asian youth aren’t perceived to be doing well in something?

Also fun fact - a working class white boy with no qualifications has more chance of getting hired than a working class black boy with no qualifications. Same with say a uni educated black kid vs a uni educated white kid who have identical qualifications.

There’s a massive body of research which proves racism at all stages of the recruitment process if you have a surname or first name that’s considered non-white. Even if you filter through the earlier stages due to being a black kid with a name like David Smith you can’t really hide your race at the interviews.

It’s funny according to poster like that, we apparently don’t need to uplift or target certain minorities who have historically been discriminated against and held back but yet when white boys are not passing their exams we need to sit down and figure it out. Hmm funny that.

Can we also figure out how we can stop the justice system punishing black boys more harshly than white boys too then ? How we make recruitment processes less racist so black and Asian people don’t always have to work harder and apply for more jobs than the white candidates to get the jobs/promotions ?

Or do we become colour blind again for those things not adversely affecting white boys ?

Devonbabs · 05/08/2024 13:42

And why has he got to the stage where he has such a tattoo?

Just step back on moment to 1930s Germany. Why were all those Germans suddenly ok with persecuting Jews, Roma, blacks, disabled? Are all Germans racists? Or was there something else at play? We’re there two many pressures in society which made Germans think and act in ways they would probably never have considered?

Maybe if people really thought these things through and learned from history we wouldn’t be in this sorry state.

Have you heard yourself? The poor guy, he’s so disaffected with life in 2024 England that he feels more kinship with the 1940s Nazi party. Yes people clearly do need to learn more about history. You seem ti be suggesting that it’s reasonable for people to align themselves with the values of a white supremacy party & display tattoos to show your allegiance/respect to it.

People in Germany in the 30s were beginning to live under a regime of intolerance & oppression. It’s not like the general population there suddenly said oh yes we vote for genocide - they had no choice or voice by then. It’s completely incomparable to modern Britain, thank goodness.

I don't need to be referred back to pre WW2 Germany by you, big part of my degree is in the history of antisemitism.

All those ordinary German people giving Nazi salutes are a real inspiration for how the rest of history should go and such a role model, aren't they? Didn't end in a genocidal bloodbath, did it?

It was a philosophy of hate that they bought in to because it sounded good and gave them something to focus on, even though that something was not responsible for their issues. By the time (some of them) woke up to what was really happening, the regime they (with noble exceptions) had chosen was so big and scary that it could not be opposed without risking your life. The far Right are still doing that, here and now and I will object to any manifestation that "others" and abuses fellow human beings in the name of a warped ideology.

Northernnature · 05/08/2024 14:35

I don't think people should get so obsessed with Nazi salute guy. I have seen similar things in the Palestine marches as well as very anti semitic signs and people dressed as Hamas but you lefties didn't keep going on about that. Wonder why?

BeachParty · 05/08/2024 14:35

Izzymoon · 05/08/2024 14:17

And there you have it.

I’m the problem for calling a Nazi a racist?! A man literally Nazi saluting during one of these riots? But it’s more outrageous to label racism as racism?

Unbelievable!

Yep.
The Nazi is just a "misguided" adult.
The ones calling out racism and Nazis are the problem.
It's beyond belief.
