Farage inciting hate and division - Hos much longer do we have to endure this hideous individual?

1000 replies

Safi7 · 05/08/2024 00:31

So Farage now has a video statement on Twitter claiming that the current rioting is “nothing in comparison to what is to come.”

Anyone else hearing reverberations of Enoch Powell’s ‘rivers of blood’ speech back in the 70s?

He is also, ‘just putting it out there’ that the police and authorities are ‘withholding the truth’ - ie. insinuating that the murderer in the Southport tragedy was actually acting on behalf of a wider terrorist network and this is being hushed.

If this isn’t inciting fear, paranoia, violence and division, I don’t know what is!

I notice he’s gone very quiet about his pathetic accusation that Channel 4 tried to set-up Reform by somehow planting an ‘actor’ to trundle around Clacton spouting racist filth.

No Nigel, you know full well who that campaigner was - and the other Reform campaigners in Clacton caught on camera with their hate speech. These are your people.

I cannot abide this man. The damage he had caused to the U.K. I have been abroad this last month and don’t want to come back. Years and years he’s been provoking hate. He has ruined the country with Brexit - but he always has someone else to blame. I don’t think I’ve ever despised a U.K. politician so much. How much longer do we have to tolerate this?

They can't even get the phrase correct...

They are deliberately mocking a sacred prayer.

These are probably the same types of people who got all exercised about the Olympics opening ceremony being anti-Christian even though they never read the bible

CassieMaddox · 05/08/2024 10:46

What is this ridiculous "he called us far right thugs" about?
Yes. If you are rioting and smashing shit up, or inciting people to do so, you are a far right thug. Actions have consequences 😂

Honestly the more I hear from the far right the more they come across like toddlers tantrumming. Farage is like the worst kind of "gentle parent" - "there there Tarquin, of course Johnny should have let you break his toy if you wanted, you were right to pull all his hair out, you were just angry weren't you love? Here, have an ice cream and I'll get Johnny's mum to apologise to you"

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 05/08/2024 10:47

farage doesn’t care about anyone but himself. The sooner people realise that the better.

Anyone setting fire to police station and throwing bricks through windows (no matter what their ethnicity) need to be arrested and charged. Being a ‘native Briton’- whatever that means- is no pass to behave like an angry baboon.

I’d be interested to see people’s excuses for the number of police officers badly hurt in these ‘demonstrations’ vs the outcry over the three officers attacked at Manchester Airport.

Justice is treating your friends and you enemies just the same. If you can’t do that then you’re in the grip of a cult.

itsgettingweird · 05/08/2024 10:47

And Spain can make the choice to not allow as many ex pats to retire there if that doesn't work for them. And Spain charges the UK for the hospital care they provide to British citizens under a reciprocal agreement.

They have. Since Brexit you can't just live FT in your second home you brought there. If you want to do that you have to apply for a visa - not easy - and relinquish some of your UK rights and pay into the Spanish system.

I know because I have many friends with places abroad.

Funnily enough many of them voted for Brexit - who now are fuming what they voted for gets the, what the voted for. Oh - hang on. No it didn't. They voted to stop people coming into Britain. Not stop them going into other countries 🤦‍♀️🤔

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 05/08/2024 10:50

I think in the end the result will be tighter controls on social media. It does seem like both the Southport attacker and the EDL have been brainwashed via social media and the dark web. In fact, I can’t think of a terrible incident in recent years that can’t be traced back to the pernicious influence of social media.

Where does Starmer say that people who don't agree with him are racist thugs? You are making rubbish up. This is what he said:

I utterly condemn the far-right thuggery we have seen this weekend.
Be in no doubt: those who have participated in this violence will face the full force of the law.
The police will be making arrests.
Individuals will be held on remand.
Charges will follow. And convictions will follow.
I guarantee you will regret taking part in this disorder.
Whether directly or those whipping up this action online, and then running away themselves.
This is not protest. It is organised, violent thuggery.
And it has no place on our street or online.
Right now, there are attacks happening on a hotel in Rotherham.
Marauding gangs intent on law breaking. Or worse.
Windows smashed.
Fires set ablaze.
Residents and staff in absolute fear.
There is no justification – none – for taking this action.
And all right-minded people should be condemning this sort of violence.
People in this country have a right to be safe.
And yet, we’ve seen Muslim communities targeted.
Attacks on Mosques.
Other minority communities singled out.
Nazi salutes in the street.
Attacks on the police.
Wanton violence alongside racist rhetoric.
So, no, I won’t shy away from calling this what it is:
Far-right thuggery.
To those who feel targeted because of the colour of your skin…
Or your faith…
I know how frightening this must be.
I want you to know this violent mob do not represent our country.
And we will bring them to justice.
Our police deserve our support, as they tackle any and all violent disorder that flares up.
Whatever the apparent cause or motivation we make no distinction.
Crime is crime.
And this government will tackle it.
Thank you.

Thanks for posting all that, good to see it all in context.
He doesn't say that people who don't agree with him are racist thugs at all, does he?
Far right thuggery is what we are seeing on the streets. He's calling it out.
If you're not a far right thug and just "have legit concerns" why are you (general you) feeling so personally attacked?
Does it make you feel uncomfortable? That these people share your views? Just going at it a little bit more extremely?
Good. I hope it does make people squirm/think.
I think it's a great speech.
He's saying we won't tolerate it, and they'll be dealt with.
Much more reassuring than maybe some woolly "we love you, you have good concerns, stand by" crap to appease them.
No. Fuck that. Get far right thugs off our streets.
Funny how you hear stuff like "need proper police, get criminals dealt with properly!"
"No, hang on, wait.... not us!" 🙄😁

Xelawho · 05/08/2024 10:50

Anyone who uses the murder of three little girls to further their own agenda, demanding that society focus on them and their dissatisfaction, instead of providing the space to grieve the lives lost, should not be listened to. Should not be appeased.

The rioters are deplorable - truly the worst of society. They’ve undermined any legitimate grievance by their willingness to take advantage of an unthinkable situation - they don’t care about anyone or anything but themselves - certainly not what’s good for society and the UK. Let’s not pretend otherwise

@Caththegreat and I've got to be honest, sometimes when I see Muslim families of 5 kids walk down the street I am concerned. The attitude of Muslim women I have worked with towards single or childfree people is often discriminatory and I sensed they were more interested in family than community

Clearly lots of people feel attacked or affronted by their own prejudice, it can be hard to come to terms with. But you need to accept that if walking on the street past a Muslim family with 5 children makes you feel concerned then it’s xenophobia at best and racism at worse, not least because you can’t actually tell if someone is Muslim by looking at them. Thats the same as assuming anyone white is Christian.

I think you would also be hard pressed to find a white British person who cared more about community than family. Bizarre outlook really.

I am in a part of the country where being white British is the minority

I work with large groups of people and regularly i am the only white person in the group of 50+ My managers are either 1st or 2nd generation immigrant. (As am I)
The general consensus I have heard regularly is that there are no real white British people in the country.

If I wanted to I could complain about racist language being used by most of the group but let it slide. I am old enough to realise I would just put myself permanently out of work as all the other areas or places around me the same demographics and same issues would apply.

What Keir Starmer and Labour need to realise there are racists and racist thugs in every skin colour.

orchiddottyback · 05/08/2024 01:10

Sorry i'm not in the minority that's all in your head and such a lazy thing to say pathetic. 🙄

The braindead, racist thugs who are doing this and pandering to Farage absolutely are in the minority. I have faith that the majority of people in this country are decent, peaceful, intelligent and compassionate people who don't want any of this. You think you're big now. Just wait until you push the decent people too far. I want the country I love and was born in to be a safe place that I'm proud to raise my daughter and will fight for it if needed as will plenty of others.

"Ali Akbar"????

Racist. Reported.

Why? That's what they were shouting. That's a fact. Is it racist to say that now.

If I say God is Great in English...is that racist?

How very silly you are!

Midnightalready · 05/08/2024 10:58

Yalta · 05/08/2024 10:34

What do you mean by “you lot”

Are you doing a Keir and calling everyone who doesn’t agree with them Racist Thugs

Sometimes you have to analyse a situation and see beyond each incident in isolation.

It doesn’t take a genius to state that things will get worse, that there will be more rioting, more looting, more racial attacks.

The country has been a tinderbox just waiting for a spark to set it off which came from a 17 year old with immigrant parents

This isn’t a Tory problem it is a Labour problem. Labour who were supposed to calm everyone down, do great things and everything would be brilliant when they came to power have just done the opposite and poured petrol on the already burning tinderbox

Whilst the protests in Southport might have started with the children being murdered, the riots took hold because of the general lack of support people have been feeling

Instead of calming the situation Keir Starmer makes a speech calling everyone who doesn’t agree with him Far right thugs.

It puts me in mind of Gordon Brown calling the woman who asked a perfectly relevant question a bigot

It just shows how out of touch with the country he is.

How deaf and blind and arrogant do you have to be to not understand what is really going on.

That Gordon Brown moment was a turning point. Keir Starmer's speech will be seen as another, I suspect.

Coastlines not an entry point could be a factor

There has been alot less immigration and no Islamic terrorism or violent attacks by asylum seekers from dangerous places (Manchester arena, Reading, Bolton, David Amess and on and on and on all happened in England).

One of the comments in the Telegraph linked to an interview with a former government advisor and they were talking about how the police had tried to bargain with a large group of men with weapons outside a mosque (this was described in the interview as a ‘militia’) by telling them to return their weapons to the mosque.

It’s honestly terrifying.

Only by those who haven't actually listened to the speech and are taking offence to what they think he said, or what social media is telling them he said, instead of what he actually said.

I think so too.
It was certainly a turning point for me when I felt we had the leader we need. Quite a rare feeling after the Tories. A strong, no tolerance message is exactly what's needed now and when the rioters start seeing their mates getting arrested they will realise what a bad move listening to the likes of Farage was.
