To think that girls weren't allowed to do triple jump at school in the 90s?

Just that. I definitely remember (secondary 1990-98) being told that we couldn't do triple jump as it could damage our insides?

Ooo, I hadn't considered that would be a problem - could they not have a general anaesthetic? I'm not sure I'd want to be awake whilst they yanked it out!

Oh they would absolutely get a general anaesthetic! But they'd need a tube in their airway once asleep, and having a javelin in your neck makes that a bit more tricky than usual...

I was at secondary school 1990-97. We definitely did triple jump as I was the person doing it for the team at one point. We didn’t do it until year 10 / 4th year though.

I don’t think my school had triple jump. We had an outdoor long jump, but most people refused to jump into it because it usually dog or cat shit in it, as it was a joint school/community playing field.

we had discus, hurdles and a painted track on the grass. And once the teacher set up a high jump inside. That was the extent of our athletics.

I was at high school in 1991-1996 and we did triple jump and 1500 metres. It This was a working class school in the north west. All our PE teachers were female.

I went to secondary school in the mid 90s. Us girls did triple jump, I remember because I hated it.
