just curious really. DH and I have never done this, and I wondered if that is the norm?

We do. But we use life 360 so we can track the kids too xx

Itiswhysofew · 03/08/2024 16:04

Not normal for me.

Butterflyfern · 03/08/2024 16:04

Nope. We just share location via WhatsApp if we're looking for each other somewhere (eg I'm picking him up from football)

MapleTreeValley · 03/08/2024 16:05

We don't - I'd be happy to, but I respect his choice.

avocadotofu · 03/08/2024 16:05

Yes we do.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 03/08/2024 16:06

No way

didistutter56 · 03/08/2024 16:06

Yep, we do. We have the family set up so we can all see where each other is. It’s very nice for having a coffee waiting for you when you get home!

Canyoudigityesyoucan · 03/08/2024 16:07

We do. It’s really useful for us, especially as we spend some of the week apart. I often forget I can check but when I do, or need to, it’s very useful and reassuring.

But would say, for those couples with trust issues, that it would be a terrible idea, and if I didn’t implicitly trust DH I wouldn’t torment myself with having it!

sunsetsandboardwalks · 03/08/2024 16:07

No, definitely not.

StormingNorman · 03/08/2024 16:07

No. It’s never come up tbh.

Yellowsubmarineunderthesea · 03/08/2024 16:08

Ya we do plus share it with my 2 dds in Oz. It started with the children when they were much younger and travelling home from college so I'd meet the train in time but they've both left it on while they travel. I'll often get a txt from one or other of them like "what you getting in town/how's the beach" etc. it works for us 😀

TheTempest · 03/08/2024 16:09

Yes we do, Me DH and DD and my mum all have it. It’s really handy for seeing when to start dinner etc.

Mrsjayy · 03/08/2024 16:09

No, it never occurred to us to, it feels a bit intrusive Dh drives about for his job he would be here there and everywhere where as I'd .be in the house 80%of the time 😃

Waaaaaahh · 03/08/2024 16:10

Yes we do because then whoever is making dinner that night doesn't need to tell the other one what time they will be home.

SparkyBlue · 03/08/2024 16:11

Yes and I only use it to check if he has left work so I get dinner started

user1474315215 · 03/08/2024 16:11

We do, also adult DC and my DS. We don't stalk each other but we do find it useful for meeting up, checking on progress on a long journey etc.

Owlplant · 03/08/2024 16:12

Yes. We have Life360. Mostly for the kids but it's useful when someone is making tea.

Changingplace · 03/08/2024 16:12

StormingNorman · 03/08/2024 16:07

No. It’s never come up tbh.

Same, I don’t know what use we’d get out if it, but if other people want to then that’s up to them.

CaptainCabinets · 03/08/2024 16:13

Nope, only time I share my live location with anyone is if we are planning to meet somewhere, or if it is in the interest of safety to do so. For example, I might consider open location sharing if DP or I decided to climb a mountain alone. My best friend shares hers with me when she travels alone for work as it makes her (and I suppose me!) feel safer to know that I would call her if anything about her location looked unusual.

Other than that, I don’t feel the need to check if DP is having a pint on the way home, and he doesn’t need to know if I’ve treated myself to a takeaway without offering him anything 😉

StoatofDisarray · 03/08/2024 16:13

No. I'm not sure where he is right now - a beer festival but I can't remember which one :-)

Yes we do. It’s useful - I leave from work and he gets tea on. He does call outs and gets called out in the tiny hours and I like to see that he’s ok (intrusive, 2am ‘but what if he has a crash!’ thoughts). It’s not something we use frequently but it’s handy to have on!

Mrsttcno1 · 03/08/2024 16:15

We all have each other on the Find My Friend app for iphone, so I have my husband, my parents, my sister and most of my friends on there🤣

Calamitousness · 03/08/2024 16:15

Yes we do. It’s useful if I get lost and I don’t want to rely on just sat nav. He can talk me through where I’m going in real time. I can see where he is when he’s out and know when he’ll be home etc. very handy. It’s not intrusive because we are married and don’t have any secrets.

Waaaaaahh · 03/08/2024 16:16

StormingNorman · 03/08/2024 16:07

No. It’s never come up tbh.

We started using it when dd started to walk home from school on her own. She was supposed to send me a text when she got home but after a couple of weeks she kept forgetting so we stayed using find my phone instead.

Then I started asking her to look to see where dh was so I could start dinner and then we shared our locations with each other too.
