Now that she's the official nominee, is anyone else excited about Kamala Harris's chances?

Just to get it out of the way - I am completely against Trump being elected President. I'm pretty excited to see Kamala being officially nominated, and looking forward to her fighting a strong campaign - albeit slightly nervously. Anyone else?

More waffle and untruths.

Trump was tried in New York as that's the jurisdiction where the alleged criminal activity took place. He did it to himself.
As has already been stated, the jury was not mostly democrats so the voting patterns in the state are irrelevant. The voters didn't convict him!

If you want to talk about bias and the law, maybe look at who Trump appointed to the Supreme Court.

Voters are the jury you muppet. That’s how you get called for jury service from your voter registration

knitnerd90 · 08/08/2024 12:33

Actually no. It's one source. They use multiple sources to generate jury lists. My husband was called for jury duty before he became a citizen (once he explained,
he was excused). They do this precisely because not everyone is registered to vote. They would have got his name from property tax rolls or the drivers licence database.

and many New Yorkers register as democrats only because they want to be able to vote in the primary, which can officially decide many New York elections.

Okaaaaay. We will assume that it was a totally unbiased jury then

I suspect @Molly70 remembers I said this above, but I will remind others that the juror who admitted to getting his news from Truth Social (Trump’s media platform) and others who admitted to sympathy with Trump were amongst those voting to convict. The decision was unanimous

Voters are not the jury.
Jurors are actually called via multiple sources, not just the electoral roll.
Seriously, educate yourself before throwing these false claims around. Are you incapable of posting the truth? So weird.

'you muppet'
Is that supposed to be an insult? I love muppets. You'll note that I haven't been calling you names despite the fact that almost every single one of your posts is a falsehood.

Why don’t you look up jury selection in US. You will ding the primary source for selecting a jury pool is from voter registration lists.

It’s so tedious these people - when they’ve run out of rope to hang themselves they resort to the insults, in the style of their leader.

@Molly70 is notably failing to address the fact that some of the jurors who voted to convict Trump in NY supported him politically

I don't need to look it up, or 'ding' (?) anything thank you.

I lived and worked in the USA (including in New York) for many years, part of my work involved the court system.

However, in case you need further guidance, here is the relevant extract from
the New York State Unified Court System guidelines which as you'll see offers a list of sources for jurors:

Commissioners of jurors
How are people chosen to be called for jury service?
The New York State court system obtains each year the names of state residents who are included on certain lists-registered voters, state taxpayers, licensed drivers, recipients of public assistance benefits and recipients of state unemployment compensation.

Please clarify what exactly you are trying to argue about.
Is it that Trump was found guilty due to bias on the part of the jurors?
And they are voters in a Democrat-favouring jurisdiction where he committed his crimes?

I actually said voters didn't decide in that it wasn't a state-wide vote, but if you want to keep arguing go for it, happy to prove you wrong if I can be bothered to reply but maybe for your own sanity you could give it a rest now.

How about the Supreme Court declining to halt Trump's sentencing for his conviction on felony charges?
Would you like to claim they're biased against Trump/Republicans as well?

But the conviction was required to be unanimous.

If the Trump supporters thought Trump was Not Guilty, all they needed to do was say so. The jury did not even discuss the case for very long - that is a sign the jurors were of one mind

it’s probably due to election interference

@Molly, we can only assume this is sarcasm. Even if there were proof of election interference, and there never has been, the Supreme Court is not elected. It could not be interfered with

All of this back and forth with Trump apologists is utterly besides the point. The race is binary: you either chose Trump and a national ban on abortion, a “fugitive uterus “ policy that tracks women’s periods and denies them the right to travel for reproductive freedom or you vote for the Democrat. That’s it. That is the choice.

Trump has NEVER said he would ban abortion nationwide. He said he would let the states decide themselves. Where does this misinformation come from? Trump should sue Harris for incitement/disinformation on social media. Also highly ironic is Harris’s labelling of Trump as “weird.” The only weird one here is cackling hyena Harris LOL.

Maggiethecat · 08/08/2024 14:57

Trump frequently speaks in word salads. About such charming topics as Hannibal Lecter. When did Kamala Harris embrace her Black identity? (Ans: She was brought up biculturally Black and South Asian and attended a Historically Black University)

To my ear KH has a full throated gutsy laugh showing that she isn’t afraid
