Are you wanting rural or a town?

East Anglia is a big area. It includes Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex … yes, it contains Cambridge, like many nice areas of the country contain cities.

AgnesX · 26/07/2024 19:09

West Cumbria (and I don't mean the Lake District)

dollopz · 26/07/2024 19:09

what do you want exactly? Why do you want to leave? How much can you afford?

Town ideally or at least very good public transport connections to town

Hm, 500k, don't need schools nearby, would like a few nice shops and restaurants, somewhere that's nice to be and interesting but for some reason no absolute hordes all summer crushing my will to live

Suffolk is beautiful and lots of villages have small train stations so good access if commuting to London etc .

DeadsoulsAngel · 26/07/2024 19:12

How many bedrooms, detached/semi/not bothered/flat ok? Anywhere you need to be near or avoid?

3 bed ideally but 2 would do, would prefer a house but flat with garden would be ok, but since this is for hermitage reasons house really better and detached ideal, nowhere to avoid except places full of tourists

Northumberland.

Some bits of the Peaks and Lakes and other National Parks are quiet outside of the honeypots.

ManxDi · 26/07/2024 19:25

Come to the Isle of Man my dear, we have space and need more fellow hermits...

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 26/07/2024 19:28

Non touristy but nice town - Newcastle u T.

Rammed full of students though, but does get quiet in the summer.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 26/07/2024 19:30

Chesterfield had nice areas. 30 mins to Sheffield, 30 mins into Peaks. Holymoorside area.

Cyclebabble · 26/07/2024 19:32

Head away from.the North Norfolk coast and look at towns such as Wymondham and Attleborough. Great places to live. Some good schools. Short journey to the coast and Lindon by train in 1.75 hours. So doable 2 or 3 days a week

TheGirlWhoLived · 26/07/2024 19:33

Worcester is lovely and certainly not overrun with tourists! No influx around summer etc. Malvern is close and sounds like it would suit you well

Carrotsandsticks · 26/07/2024 19:35

Weybridge or Cobham. Completely empties out during summer as everyone goes away. It's just like Italy.

RadRad · 26/07/2024 19:37

East Grinstead
Tunbridge Wells
Horsham

Gooselady · 26/07/2024 19:42

Worcester
Hereford
Cheltenham(?) maybe does get touristy during races, festival etc
Leamington Spa
Malvern
Gloucester
