I had Seventy hyal skin booster under my eyes a few years ago and it did this. Massive bags which took nearly a year to recede. I used to massage them with oils in the evening and I think that helped. Definitely the hyaluronic acid caused it, was supposed to dissipate but didnt just sat there. Would never bother with any of it again too much can go wrong. I joined the facebook group Facial Damage from Radiofrequency and Lasers Support Group, after an IPL facial left me sick and swollen for a week, helped me to realise how often and how bad these things can go wrong.

I agree this has massively opened my eyes up (the irony!)

So glad I found this thread. I'm also having issues with puffiness having had this treatment months ago. For anyone interested, I've attached a link which shows how long fillers can remain(although PN isn't actually a filler) It's about 20 minutes long but really informative!

Ps...I should add that I originally had treatment in July last year and that was fine. However, I had a second treatment a few months ago and I now have swelling under both eyes.

dollyblue01 · 28/04/2025 08:10

I’ve had it a few months ago and it turned out I’m allergic to hydraulic acid , took six to eight weeks and all kinds to try and get rid of the massive bags it caused, never again would I do that under my eyes.

Hi! I had polynucleotides under my eyes 2 months ago and am left with swollen sausage under one of my eyes. My dermatologist is recommending to dissolve (I had under eye filler years ago). Did the dissolving work for you? I’m terrified of dissolving and wondering if I should wait another month to see if they go away on their own.. would love to know what did/ didn’t work for you 😊

Mines been over a week now and I also had a microneedling facial this week and dare I say it but my eye bags are looking flatter. I’m hoping it continues that way. I think with hyaluronidase it can take a good few weeks to see the full results if you haven’t previously had filler.

Did you ever see improvement from the dissolving?

Puffypolyneuceyes · 24/05/2025 08:49

Would love an update on how everyone’s eyes are doing. What has worked for you and what hasn’t. I have the same issue as many of you. Swollen eye bags after second polynucleotide treatment six weeks ago. Likely it has caused 8 year old tear trough filler to have swollen - despite never having any problems before. Two Topilase and microneedle sessions did absolutely nothing but left eyes sore so not going to bother with them any more. Thinking only option is to dissolve but terrified the results with be even worse - hollow and more wrinkles.
Would love to hear if anyone has had success in getting their eyes back to normal.

Anothermum25 · 24/05/2025 12:44

Hi,
I am 46 and stayed away from dissolving due to high risk of side effects. I have 15 years old tear through filler which probably cause this reaction, similar to your case. I’m 5 now months down the line from the PN treatment causing eye bags but they are steadily improving and almost gone now. I’ve tried topalise and it did nothing however I does improve on its one in time. 6-12 weeks mark was the worst and most consistent swellIng after which it started to subside. I would wait for 6 months if I were you and if the problem is still present then I’d look at dissolving but I would not rush it - let your body work naturally on it. I hope this helps.

whymewhyme · 24/05/2025 13:39

I had slight seeing for about 1 week then it went down. I didn't rate it at all

Puffypolyneuceyes · 24/05/2025 17:27

Thanks so much for replying Anothermum25. I’m the same age as you and it sounds like we’ve had the same timeline and reaction - old filler, swelling after PN and no improvement with Topilase! It’s so reassuring to hear yours have nearly gone back to normal. I’ve been getting a bit desperate and looking at everything from dissolving and refilling to fat transfers and blepharplasty to fix it - none of which I can afford and all of which have their own risks themselves. Sounds like I should wait it out for now.
Can I ask if you found any eye cream or product helpful during this time?

mildredmoomoo · 25/05/2025 02:14

After 2 months of puffy sausage under eyes due to reactivated old filler l decided to go for ultrasound guided dissolving. I went to see 2 dermatologists in 3 separate appointments before making my decision and both told me it would take years for the swelling to go away on its own. The dissolving worked mostly and about 70% of the swelling has dissipated, I’ll do for another round of dissolving once I return from vacation in a few months. I did a lot of research before dissolving and while not at all ideal and definitely risky I decided to go for it as I would rather go for a long term solution such as lower bleph and fat transfer and in order to do this I would need to dissolve any existing filler any way. So I am seeing this as the first step towards a long term solution. It’s been a humbling experience. I am not used to seeing myself as I am now, I am 2 weeks post dissolving and my under eyes are feeling very hollow. I am not sure if it’s at the level it would be naturally or if the dissolving has worsened it, as I had filer for so long I don’t know what my true baseline is. I’ve read it can take time to resettle after dissolving so I’ll give it a few more weeks. However, feel I can better accept the hollowing as I know there are ways to address it. For now, I am practicing acceptance learning to embrace my flaws and thinks twice before undergoing any cosmetic treatments.

Hi,
i don’t think any of the creams made much difference, to be honest. I used an ice roller also and various eye gel patches with a very marginal difference. I found that I definitely looked more swollen in the morning and a having a cardio session followed by a steam room would help to bring it down. I also had Botox at the same time as PN which is thought to make the swelling worse as there is less movement which added to the lymphatic blockage. In regards to dissolving: it depends on how severe your swelling is? Not sure how much of what is written about dissolving is true but I personally know people who looked worse after the dissolving and went in circles of refilling the area with HA again as their eyes got incredibly hollow. I would not risk it at my age as have read the dissolving can continue to work for months after the treatment and some horror stories on tissue damage etc etc so I would say it’s the very last resort for me, too many bad stories around and I would just give it a bit of time first. Good luck and I hope you get better very soon.

newfriend05 · 25/05/2025 16:10

If you’re allergic to fish or shellfish. You should not have this treatment

Thanks for all this. Interestingly mine look a bit better after sauna/hot yoga too! Can I ask how high your swelling/puffiness is? Mine is right under the eye - worse one side. I had a zoom consultation with an expert filler dissolver this week in the US - just to hear his opinion and he thought it was very unlikely to be filler as it was so high and close to the eye. Apparently filler swelling (which he treats and dissolves on a daily basis) is typically lower - in the tear trough area but mine is above there. So he concluded it was a fat pad that the moisture in the PN and made swell up. He said looking worse in the morning tied in with this. So now I’m even more in mind to leave it and see what happens and not try dissolving. Thanks again for sharing your experience - it makes so much difference to know you’re not alone and there is some hope!

My swelling under one eye still hasn’t gone away after 4 months. I contacted the manufacturer who said bruising under the eye can cause puffiness which takes months to go away. At my age (57) I doubt any stretch in the skin for that length of time will recover so it’s frustrating. I’m backs again to see the injector at the end of march and will then be asking what remedial steps they are prepared to take. If nothing I’ll have to look into scans to see what happening or surgery to try and fix the puffiness.

I’m having the same issue it’s been over three months now. I have soft lumps and swelling under both eyes it looks terrible. My doctor has been very good I’ve had steroids that took everything away as soon as I stopped them it all came back. He’s done the wait and see situation and he is now consulting with an eye specialist to get some advise as he’s never seen it before and he’s a very experienced doctor in this field. I had Philnest my doctor also has a scanning machine he checked for filler there was nothing there he said everything looked normal. I am now waiting to see what’s next but I have a feeling it might be surgery. Has anyone managed to get any more information? I will share if I find anything more out that would be useful on here.

I had a little bit of dissolver which did a bit of improvement but not everything resolved. Ive been using an LED and microcurrent eye mask daily and that has improved it much more. I would say if you have swellings under both eyes and there’s no filler there after 3 months it’s likely to be fat pads that have pushed out or become more prominent due to the PN like mine. Surgery was refused to me so close to the PN treatment (6 months!!!) and I was told to wait up to a year before they would look at that hence I tried other routes. Try using a silk pillowcase. My eyes are always worse on days I don’t use one.

Hi all, I had Botox that went wrong and left me with huge eyebags for months. It was awful… anyway, I’m 47 and the skin did go back to normal… no empty sagging bag. Xx

Which LED eye mask do you use? Thanks!

I had PNs in the lower face and neck. Big blebs and a few small bruises appeared very quickly which the practitioner said was entirely normal. I was horrified. In the description it said no downtime and the blebs soon disappear! Felt so self conscious on the bus on the way home, looked as if I had a terrible disease. It took 5 days for these blebs to disappear, and I never left the house. I sent a photo to the clinic, and again was told this was normal. I decided I couldn’t face the remaining two treatments and cancelled them. I’m not having it again, and I've read about similar experiences online, plus the results were not worth the money, according to some.
I don’t think clinics should be offering this treatment- I bet many more have had similar problems.

Hope it wasn’t hydraulic acid as that would have dissolved and burnt your skin- it was hyalonuric acid!

The ‘blebs’ are normal. I looked awful after each of my 3 treatments but within 48 hours they disappeared. My last treatment changed the product and therefore the result hence my issues.

Thank you I will look into this🥰
Have your under eye returned to normal and did you have any more dissolver?
Thank you for your quick reply im currently in painc mode xx

AngieBei · 15/06/2025 17:44

I only had issues under one of my eyes which made them look very odd. I didn’t go back for more dissolver as whilst I had improvement with it, it intermittently swelled again. I think the PN has partially blocked the lymph’s under that eye so lots of things make it look worse- sleeping on it, lack of sleep etc. The eye mask has got it back to about 80% the same and I’m hoping over time the PN will dissolve from the lymph system and the rest of the swelling will go away.
