Sickening behaviour. Surely tasering the man is enough.
He is on the floor tasered so you give him some kickings to the head?

Hope this is properly investigated.
Greater Manchester Police have an awful reputation.

I can't watch it, I presume the person on the floor isn't white?

What’s the colour of their skin got to do with it?

Laurahenry · 27/07/2024 18:45

A

AllesAusLiebe · 27/07/2024 18:49

I see the full footage has been released. May I invite everyone who believes that this incident occurred to two nice, upstanding family-oriented lads who didn't deserve to be handled roughly to take a look. . . I'll wait.

Elle7 · 27/07/2024 18:50

I’ve just watched the WHOLE clip! Sickening! The man on the floor WAS the one who broke the female’s nose! Not only that, he was completely out of control, injuring at least two other police officers!

HansHolbein · 27/07/2024 18:50

The new CCTV footage showing what happened before the kick and stamp is interesting. He deserved it but the police can’t lower themselves to that level. What a mess.

Quite a lot, clearly.

ItsMeNotTheProblem · 27/07/2024 18:51

I’m still holding the view that police are not placed to dish out punishment.

It’s still not appropriate to stamp on the head of a man in the prone position, whatever the circumstances IMO.

Elle7 · 27/07/2024 18:51

There wasn’t just ONE out of control though, the pair of them obviously have anger issues!

Elle7 · 27/07/2024 18:53

What does the colour of the skin have to do with the footage I’ve just witnessed, the WHOLE footage! Skin colour has NOTHING to do with two aggressive people totally out of control!

Agree but to use skin colour as a fucking excuse! Nope!

Feeling under threat by a baying mob, having just seen a colleague's nose broken and other colleagues also assaulted could all mean that human emotions & self preservation instinct take over.

I'm not condoning it at all, but I do think we need to know the full story / context and then for the CPS to act accordingly.

Trial by social media & appeasement of mob rule is not what should happen in a civilised society.

I still think the police officer was wrong but "baying mob" sums it up really

It was an uncomfortable watch all round. The threats to the police were palpable

The mob butting in and distracting and the "parent of an undetermined age" wandering around getting in the police's faces

And there is NO excuse for the demos and meetings with "community leaders"
And the ambulance chasing lawyer rubbing his hands at the £ signs

Flibflobflibflob · 27/07/2024 18:56

I just watched it, tbh I don’t blame anyone for wanting to boot either of them in the head after that. Doesn’t mean it’s ok for a police officer to lose control and do that, the police should still be looking at that officer.

But by god did those two deserve it. They are clearly extremely violent, I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the first time they’ve been involved in a violent altercation.

The footage is horrific. How the arseholes can go on TV waah'ing about what happened, just disgusting. If the one in the fetching sky blue outfit hadn't been tasered he was not going to stop. Our police really do have to put up with some crap.

cakeorwine · 27/07/2024 18:59

A link to the footage.

It looks like he has been tasered.
The whole incident just seems strange.
The police walk up to the person and grab him. They seem to put him in a headlock very quickly.
Then a fight breaks out very quickly.
The person seems to be tasered.
Then the police officer kicks him in the head.

There doesn't seem to be a baying mob in that video
Mostly it's people queuing to pay for parking.

Flibflobflibflob · 27/07/2024 19:02

I can’t get over how many glossed over the fact that he punched a woman (looks like two women actually) in the face. When I heard that I thought, “yup that guy is going to turn out to be an utter prick generally”.

DelightedGirlDad · 27/07/2024 19:02

Firearms officers are supposed to be selected on the basis of their ability to remain calm in tense situations. The fact of this violent attack on a person who posed no immediate threat goes beyond questions of the criminal culpability of the officer involved (though this needs to be fully followed up), it raises urgent questions about the suitability of the selection process.

If they'd have got their hands on a weapon they'd have used it they were like out of control animals, deserved everything they got. Although the PC should've known it would all be on cctv and maybe stuck to a repeat taser instead.

It was afterwards, there were a bunch of people outside the police station calling for the police officer to be arrested and the “victims” set free.

If you are a firearms officer, surely the way you approach people should change, given you are carrying weapons.

It looks like the officers came from behind to the man who was paying and within a few seconds, he was in a headlock and the fight broke out.

I would have thought that if you had a weapon that could be taken off you if the person resisted arrest would alter the way you approach someone - just in case they resisted.

They had tasers. I guess they had pistols. It was a crowded environment.

I am not a police officer - but it looked like the way they initially approached the person was not the best way. Especially if the police officers were armed

Yeah I think thats why you get a very heavy response from an armed police officer. There was that thing about how many police officers in the US are shot by their own firearms.

It’s actually pretty scary to be put in that situation. I have zero sympathy for those two pillocks but still, police must remain in control. I do hope they face charges for assaulting police officers though.

When the thug hospitalised the 1st officer it wasn't about skin colour.
When the thug hospitalised the 2nd officer it wasn't about skin colour.

The moment the 4th officer's boot connected with the thug's head it was all about skin colour.

I understand you think the Police officer was wrong. But looking at the whole scenario.

You're a firearms cops going to arrest someone in an airport. You are met by extreme violence, you manage to Taser one of them and then are attacked from behind in a chokehold. You have a gun on you.

You get up and see the bloke appear to lift up from the floor. It's a confusing chaotic situation. I can understand why he's kicked him thinking "You are not in any circumstances getting to your feet".

You also have other injured cops, and cops with firearms who had/were being assaulted.

Let's face it, they were lucky they weren't shot, fighting with cops with firearms like that.

If you are an armed police officer, do you think the intial approach to the suspect should have been different?
